Bad tho' he be--I have a tremendous soft spot for Lovell. Perhaps orange cats can't help being bad--they just seem to have the kitty devil in them. Then they fall asleep and your heart melts.
Here's the misunderstood Lovell lying sound asleep on the floor with his beautiful head against that marvelous patchwork ottoman cube. His tiny tail makes a gracious curve as it wraps in front of his body. A turquoise blanket has been pulled off the ottoman, no doubt in a more exuberant moment, and it's become the cave in which he sleeps. What a dear sweet boy. He's clearly incapable of having a single naughty thought..... .... Multiple naughty thoughts? You betcha!
I've just figured it out: His real name in "Love" and the two extra "l"s at the end are just to emphasize the love. Or something. Does it seem as if I'm looking for ways to avoid cleaning my house?
Anne..no, a philosophical discussion of etymology is a very rational way to avoid housework. 'sides which, I couldn't agree more. (And I'm visiting a friend in St Paul; I couldn't do anything to MY house if I wanted to.) AND---that is the sweetest picture of Lovell yet, the sweep of the whiskers does it for me.
Oh, my. I said it before, and I'll say it again. All the stories about sweet Lovell's alleged naughty behavior are just lies, vicious lies! Can anyone looking at this precious sleeping angel seriously believe him capable of any misbehavior whatsoever? The only thing being trashed here is Lovell's reputation.
Shhhhhhhhh.....he's invisible under the blanket..anyone can see that. And I am not buying the sweet sleep thing. I have an orange cat like Lovell ( Miss Liza Kitty, thank you very much) and even when they are asleep like he is in the pic, they are always listening..(look at the ears, duhh) What a doll, though.
Lovell is indeed love! Even if he gets those wild kitten ideas during his naps and then simply has to carry them out! Love you, Lovell!!!! You remind me of my very first kitty, Sunshine (I was 4 when we got him so I am not certain about his troublemaking - all I knew was I loved him!)
I've worked with children long enough to know that the cuter they look while sleeping, the more mischief they get up to while awake. I can only assume the same is true of kittens. All week we've heard whispers of Lovell's exploits, and yet here he, looking like a perfect angel. Oh Mr. Lovell, you don't fool us!

ReplyDeleteHe's so precious - a bit on the rowdy side - but precious beyond words.
ReplyDeleteJulia
Oh that Lovell! Look at him, all neatly asleep, looking like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. He knows which colours suit him too! ;)

ReplyDeleteOh goodness, he's so handsome! If I didn't already have a cat and kitten wreaking havoc and eating me out of house and home, I would be tempted!
ReplyDeleteAH, those stripey little legs! They remind me of my dear old Juice. I lost her last summer at 16, but I still remember her stripey orange kitten legs.
ReplyDeleteDream those sweet dreams, little Lovell. You're that much closer to conquering humans all over the world with your kyoot!
ReplyDeleteYes. I am a sucker for Lovell.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet boy in naptime. Hell on wheels when he's awake. Its the Marmie way.

ReplyDeleteLovell is just showing how VERSATILE he can be.
ReplyDeleteNo cat should have just one face to put to the world!
But this little Lovell just makes me want to drive on down to curl up with him....
How's 0230 sound Laurie?
