Kitity Hiatus
For the first time, in a very long time, we're officially kitten-free. Orson, Inez and Edward all left for their new homes bright and early today.
As sad as it was to say goodbye to the last of the Davenports, I have to say, it's nice to have a little quiet around here. We've had a steady a stream of kittens through this house, and as much as I love it, I need to take a week (or two) off, to avoid burn out.
During my kitty hiatus, I'm going to take a break from the blog as well.
When I return, there will be the last of The Davenport's departure stories, a fresh batch of kittens, perhaps a new set of Pettibone cards and a couple of other surprises as well.
Stay tuned folks, have a great holiday weekend,, we'll see you soon.
xo

Rest well and enjoy yourself, Laurie! Even angels need rest and respite!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to give plenty of loving to Ms.Butterbean in the meantime
ReplyDeleteTake all the time you need! We junkies will just wander through old posts to get our kitten fixes.
ReplyDeleteYou're the BEST Laurie! We'll miss you but we're ALL IN FAVOR of your break from us and kittens. Can't wait tillyou're back though.....XO
ReplyDeleteHave a great time off and catch lots of deep breaths for next time!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, you can rest with the assurance of a job well done. Enjoy the quiet time before things start getting crazy again!
ReplyDeleteDear Laurie and crew,
ReplyDeleteYou take all the time you need. Send our love to Miss Butterbean and dear Drewie.
We all appreciate everything you do, and the fact that you let us sneak glimpses into your life... well, that's just icing!

Best wishes to all the kitties that left you today. And, XOXO to you too, enjoy your break.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your well deserved time off Laurie! I don't know how Ms. Butterbean will feel after a few days with no kittens though, you'll have to let us know :)
ReplyDeleteMuch love and luck to the Davenports.
ReplyDeleteHave a good break, Laurie! Give Charlene an extra little head skritch from me.
Have a wonderful "vacation," gal! You, Craig, the beauteous Ms. Butterbean and Drewery so deserve a nice, relaxing bit of time off! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you, but you thoughtfully set up the Flicker page for us to share with each other in the meantime. :-)
We'll look forward to your return, Laurie! Have a great time!
What they all said. It will only make the next batch that much more enjoyable for you all.
ReplyDeleteAs displeased as I am at the dearth of kittehs, I know you will be giving Miss Butterbean a lot of well deserved affection. Give her a little nosing and a tummy rub for me as well.
ReplyDeleteGT
I hope we'll some of Charlene Butterbean's life an an only child...even if temporarily basking alone in the spotlight. Thanks for your gift to us all in this blog, and in helping to save the kittens. Biscuit, Cookie and Kate meow their appreciation.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Hilary: "What they said!" But you absolutely deserve a period of quiet and rest (*I know those babies require things like warm cotton balls to learn to wee &c*)and you've left us with a powerful LOT to anticipate in the meantime! LOVE to all, and to my fellow IBKC fans here: Have a safe and lovely and restful Day Off!
ReplyDeleteLaurie,
ReplyDeleteAs a recent IBKC addict, I encourage you to most definitely take the time you need to avoid burnout. This blog and the work you do are such wonderful itty bitty lights in a sometimes depressing world, so please care for yourself so you can continue.
Phew - you display your labor of love so beautifully, we can lose track of how long you go without a break.
ReplyDeleteCharlene and her staff ALL deserve a break. There is a great deal of IBKC history and alumni records to go through, so have no fear.....
...we will still be here!
Purrs....
Aww Laurie, I'll miss you while you're away. Kittens or no kittens, I do look forward to reading this one, daily if I can! Take care & have a very nice time- you give a lot, so it's only fair you take some time for yourselves too. And extra special scritchies for our Dear Miss Butterbean!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, Charlene & the Gang, you certainly deserve a break. We'll be waiting (although not patiently) for your return and an intro to more IBKs.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, let's celebrate Chloe's adoption!! She's an angel straight from heaven, has been at the shelter for a while, and was most recently at Met Vet (an offsite adoption locale). A gal saw her on Comcast this week, and scooped her up! YAY!
Dear Laurie and other devoted members of the IBKC - Congratulations on another litter of bittys, (bye-bye sweethearts!) well-placed in Forever homes. Now, do everything you can to rest up and pamper yourselves. Follow your hearts - we know that ultimately it will lead you to another bitty family in need of your special brand of fostering.
ReplyDeleteScritches to you all! And - A special Yay for Shana's reports of the older kitties who find homes - most recently sweet Chloe - Keep the good news coming, Shana!
Have a nice break... we all need it sometimes.
ReplyDeleteRest well, and we'll be waiting for you and the new kitties!
ReplyDeleteHave a good rest Laurie and spend some time relaxing with Drewey, Butterbean and family.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture of Orson there!
So many thanks for everything you have done for the kittehs, yourself and us!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your rest and all that.
We'll be with you no matter what you end up doing.
Thanks again!
Have a good rest-up! We will miss you & the Daily Kitteh - but, you deserve a rest, too!
ReplyDeleteYou and Ms Butterbean spend lots of time together having fun!
I'll be waiting for the newest batch of IBKs and your wonderful posts!
I would love to see Inez and Orson as they grow up in their new homes! Are they going as a pair??
ReplyDeletemartin j - Since Laurie is on hiatus, I can tell you that Orson went as a single to a loving family that includes another kitten and a "schnoodle", and Edward and Inez went to a great home together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue - I'm hoping you get pics when they are bigger as Orson reminds me of my Thomas kitty and Inez reminds me of my Sooty...
ReplyDeletePlus the fact they are my favs of this batch! :)
Hooray for making such a healthy decision, Laurie. We can't give water from an empty well, can we? You and your crew are seriously important and special to so many of us, not to mention to the darling itty bitties you nurture and love.
ReplyDeleteOn a selfish note, I can't help but be somewhat relieved about your hiatus, as it corresponds to one of my own. I'll be out of reach for a month, and knowing I won't be missing *all* the action will be something of a help while I undergo IBKC withdrawal.
My very best to all the IBKC members, with special mention to dear Charlene Butterbean, the Auntie Mame of the feline set.
Enjoy your time off and thanks for all the joy you bring to everyone with this blog and the families who adopt the kitties you & your team have fostered. I'm looking forward to the next batch...
ReplyDeleteI'll miss reading about the kitties...It's the first thing I check in the am and the last thing I check at night. Have a good rest, and I'll be looking forward to your return, all refreshed.
ReplyDeleteBye, Davenports! Have a good life!
ReplyDeleteRest well, Laurie and the rest of IBKC!
Take all the time you need. Even the fabulous IBKC needs a rest sometime. Don't worry, we'll be here when you get back. :)
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOO! I depend on you to stave of my own burn out! What will I do without your brilliant kitten photos and tales?
ReplyDeleteYOu guys get some much deserved rest!!! I think Ms BUtterbean will let you know when she wants more kittens in the house!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice break Laurie! You have done such a wonderful job finding all these beautiful babies their Forever Families. Looking forward to seeing some Pettibone cards, would love to send some my family.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break! I look forward to meeting the next batch of IBKC'S >^.^<
ReplyDeletePettibone cards! Yay Pettibone cards! Just in time to prepare for the holidays! What could make someone happier then Alvie Pettibone in their mailbox?
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful kitty blog :) Enjoy your break.
ReplyDeleteI know you're on a kitty break but I keep checking in, just in case.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
ReplyDeleteHave to say how much I love your sofa and curtains, and the orange chair in some of the kitten pics. I've got just the spot for that chair.
ReplyDeleteHi Laurie! I just wanted to let you know that I received my cards! Those were a bright shining beacon in a horrible, no good, very bad day.
ReplyDeleteI have fallen in love with your blog! Today is my first visit, but I am going to read everything from the past and await your return.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I fostered for the TPCHS until 1997 - about 250 kittens and moms worth. We only have one cat now - from one of our final litters. We allowed ourselves that indulgence that led to our extended fostering sabbatical. Margarite was our wonderful HS coordinator!
I check in too and love to see comments from the other groupies who are tapping their toes and paws.
ReplyDeleteWELCOME Dana. Everyone should look at Dana's incredible prize from fostering (and the fabulous posts and railings in the photo too!).
Is it two weeks yet?
Dana, what a gorgeous kitty!!!
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks? It feels like a month already!
i miss seeing the itty bitties already! hurry up and get there kitties! :)
ReplyDelete(I do hope that your break is going well though, and I actually think it is a good idea.... I just enjoy seeing the cats so much)
Hi Dana! Welcome to the IBKC groopies!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful kitteh!
I'm seeing people checking in, so I'll post a request for warm thoughts (prayers if you do!) for some human ittybitties-- twin grandchildren born 1 Sept. (one of each!). Almost 3 months early and very tiny, Baby Boy and Girl could use some prayer. They seem to be doing as well as possible, though Baby Boy will need surgery to close his prenatal heart valve, which hasn't closed. Thanks, guys, you have big hearts! New Grandma Marjorie
ReplyDeleteDana, Have you captioned that wonderful shot? How about, "Requests for interviews are considered, but not promised."
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new grand-babies Marjorie, I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteMarjorie, keep us posted on those itty bitty babies. Blessings on your babies and their whole family!!!!!!
ReplyDelete(((Marjorie)))
ReplyDeleteHolding your itty bitty babies in prayer!
Welcome Dana!
ReplyDeleteSo cool to hear from another fostering family! 250 itty bits is no mean feat!
That's a great shot! And what is this lucky former fosterling's name?
We just got back after two weeks on vacation and picked up a litter of six fosterlings the next day...no rest for the weary. I think our resident cats wanted more time off before the next deluge!
ReplyDeleteWe got an award! We'd like to pass it on to you.
ReplyDeleteStop by and pick it up !!!
We've had an incredible number of adult kitty adoptions and rescues lately ~ I think it's time for a report....
ReplyDeleteI know I won't remember all the names, but YAYs for biggies Hank (I really fell for that handsome boy), Mitzie, Sullivan, Callie, & Buster who all found their new forever homes! Plus, beautiful Eloise & Princess went to rescues!
Now, where are those new IBKs? This has been the longest 11 days of my life!!
You deserve a nice nap! Mom says she admires the wonderful work you do, and wonders how you manage to ever let the kittens go!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's not just me feeling like these past IBKC-less days are endless (at least it's not as long as a trip to Australia).
ReplyDeleteHow could it be that it's been nearly two weeks and I just noticed Orson's sweet little reflection?
ReplyDeleteYAY for one more big kitty getting adopted ~ Dexter found his new forever home! He's a hunky boy, so handsome and charming. It was wonderful to walk into the shelter today, after just one day off, and find him gone ~ he didn't even say goodbye but I know he's super happy in his new digs. YAY!
ReplyDeletecome back kitties!
ReplyDeleteMArjorie, how are your babies doing?
ReplyDeleteXO XO
I'm having IBKC withdrawl :)
ReplyDeleteTake care...and maybe take some bubble baths. Thanks for taking care of all the kitties!
ReplyDeleteWe need some new kitties.
ReplyDeletei feel so bad that Orsons new family hasnt been able to share photos of him all grown up with us, i think he is the most beautiful boy and reminds me very much of a cat i had as a teenager. i wish that his parents would be so kind as to send us all a photo so that we can see him as a mature adult kitty, and maybe a little bit of bio- so that we might all know how well he is doing in his new life.
