Hey, Big Boy!
Yesterday you met the tiniest,, today you're meeting the biggest of the brood.
He's mostly black, but he's got some gray streaks on his back and sides and a little bit of white on his chest. He's quite fluffy and round. I guess I would call him a dilute fluffxedo.
He was the first to purr.
Everybody is doing great. They all have mastered the litter box. Not a single accident ANYWHERE. Every one's eating well too.
Last night I was going into the kitten room and Charlene snuck in behind me. I scooped her up quickly, so she wouldn't make contact with the babes or their food.
They had just tucked themselves into their basket, and were ready for bed.
When they noticed Charlene, their little heads popped up and they looked at her wide-eyed. The tiny guy cried out, wriggled around and started kneading his tiny paws on the edge of the basket.
No one had acted like they missed their mama before, but in that 3 seconds when they saw Charlene, it seemed like they did.
I have to say, it kind of broke my heart. Poor, sweet little orphan kitties.
This morning I was greeted with lots of swishy tails and purrs. They had a good breakfast, then everyone came over and sat on me while they washed their little faces. One by one they jumped off and started their morning wresting routine.
All is well in their world.

*gulp* A tear in my eye and a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteWelcome little bebes! You've got wonderful new moms! Laurie will take good care of you until you get to meet Ms. Butterbean.
The birthday party idea is wonderful, Laurie!
Well, break my heart, why don'tcha!
ReplyDeleteThat's just about the dearest little story I've heard in a long time. There should be some sort of gentle kitty autoclave so that kittens and Charlene could be together immediately.
Is three the total?
I totally fell in love with Wilemina, and have been following your blog ever since...but this is the first group to capture my heart to this extent since that first little darling and her turkey drawing!
ReplyDeleteMore, more, more!!!
Oh, won't they be happy to meet Charlene Butterbean!!!! Maybe, just maybe, as happy as she will be to meet them!!!
ReplyDeletePatti in KY
I'm officially in love!
ReplyDeleteDitto Kleinwort's response to your poignant story about the babies missing their mom and Charlene's defiance of the quarantine.
Cheers to all the babies' success with the litterbox and generally thriving.
How is it that each new group is the cutest most adorable ever?
He looks JUST like my kitten did as a baby. Sweetest little thing EVER. If this little guy keeps his coat pattern, he should have a 'gray mane' thing going on when he grows up.
ReplyDeleteAnd that story is both heart breaking and adorable. They want Charlene love!
Aww, soon Charlene will be their mama.
ReplyDeleteI just kept re-reading the bits about the little guy making bisquits & mewing when he saw Miss Butterbean. It breaks my heart so much, but is so bittersweet, too...
ReplyDelete*wipes tear from cheek*
ReplyDeleteCharlene wants them as much as they want her!
At least the bebes have you, Laurie, to climb on and supervise as they attend to their morning toilette (in more ways than one!)
I can't wait until they all meet!
poor little tiny tim!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww...soon the mutual need for Butterbeaning will be met!
ReplyDeleteChanter, Laurie described this little guy's coloring perfectly. He's sitting up, looking at the human holding the camera, with a sweet "pick me up and love me" face.
Awww what beautiful babies!
ReplyDeleteawww sweet! i wish i had a kitten room lol!
ReplyDeletelove the title of this blog! i usually check every day! makes me smile, thank you!
Oh my heart! I think it just broke into a million tiny pieces...poor little baby, kneading his basket and missing his mama...don't worry little ones, Mama Laurie and Auntie Charlene will take wonderful care of you.
ReplyDeleteLook at that sweet round furry face! Its so sad that Charlene and the kitties can't be together yet. They will have all kinds of love and attention from Miss Butterbean soon, I hope.
ReplyDeleteAwww! He's gonna be a big hunka love. Love his little ruff coming in.
ReplyDeleteI love fluffy purry boys, so this kitty's a fave of mine already.
ReplyDeleteCharlene is going to get to those babies - doors be damned! Bless that Butterbean's heart! She must have a 6th sense tracking device for little ones needing nurturing. Just like her human Momma.
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me of Orson! Oh, how I would love to see a grown-up shot of that little bruiser. Orson's new family, if you're out there... please!
ReplyDeleteWe're all counting the days until Butterbean meets the kittens. I know you know best and there's a good reason for the quarantine, but I wouldn't mind seeing it end just a little early. Thanks for taking good care of them. What do you know about their mama?
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that story! I recently lost my beloved 17 year old kitty and now I'm looking to get a pair of kittens (not as a replacement, but to start afresh). I so wish I lived in your area!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know kittens could have chubby cheeks. So. Freakin'. Cute.
ReplyDeleteYay, new kitty babies. And they are all so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have a tear in my eye after reading that story. Seems like Miss Butterbean has missed having kitties as much as we have. I can't wait till they get together, we will live vicariously through the IBKC. You guys are so lucky to see everything in person.
ReplyDeleteSo cute so cute so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, can I give a shout out to my little foster guy here? I'd like to introduce you to Lofa Bun, my 3-month-old foster bunny. See him and his fellow fosters at hayisforbunnies.blogspot.com. Thanks!
Now, back to kitties ~ YAY for biggies going home! Handsome Joker's owners came for him yesterday, while sweet ChaCha and Maddie found their new forever homes! YAY!
Welcome to the new little ones! The tiny guy crying for momma tugged at our heartstrings.
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to read the formal introductions and see more pictures of these lovely little babies.
Charlemagne and Tamar
Ahh, the lil darlin. I'm sure Charlene and you will have extra snorgles for him when quarantine is over, Laurie. Give him an extra for me!
ReplyDeleteOh, the SWEETIE! And your story touched me too -- you know, Laurie, you may not realize it, but you provide such pleasure! The pictures are brilliant, the stories perfection, and for all of us who(may as well say it) all but worship at our little treasures' paws, this is nothing short of a delirious delight. Now I'll go back to enjoying the Anticipation of the Butterbeaning!
ReplyDeleteyay! kittens! they are heartbreaking...but oh so sweet.
ReplyDeletehugs,
puglette
So sweet, i can hardly stand it! Your photography is quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteIs there any question why i love kitties more than anything????
"He was the first to purr." This loving attention to each individual kitten is one of the many reasons this is so much more than "just a blog."
ReplyDeleteCharlene's overwhelming desire to nurture those babies, and their recognition of her mama's heart, just knocked me out.
This wait was so worth it.
As always, your photography is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story, I could just picture the scene.
I think the purr of a kitten is one of the best sounds in the world!
squeeee! Such beautiful babies, I totally understand charlene's eagerness to meet them!
ReplyDelete*sniff*
ReplyDeleteThis story makes me want to be a foster mom so bad! Someday...
ReplyDeleteWay to sneak in Charlene! Quarantine....Smarentine! What baby-faces. Told my husband kittens are back...he said I couldn't have one...Ha! But he will be checking out the site, too...just you wait!
ReplyDeleteCutest kitties ever! Again!
ReplyDeleteooh, I just love the big fluffy boy kitties.
ReplyDelete:)
Jennifer
For when I was child,
ReplyDeleteLeft motherless and alone,
You gave me succor.
Oh my goodness! The cheeks on that kitty!
ReplyDeleteA bit late, but... awww! *sniff* The story about the wee littlest of the kitties' reaction to charlene about broke my heart, too. Poor little fuzzies. There's going to be a whole lot of mutual kitty love once she can meet the babies, I have no doubt.
ReplyDeletethey sound absolutely darling! You are soooo lucky, Laurie. :) *cuddles the lot* I love the description of the dilute fluffxedo, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who loves fluffy, purry kitties. Many, many cuddles and scritchies!
