This was a weekend filled with goodbyes. Harlan and Nelson left Saturday morning. Neville and Tressa left Sunday. It wasn't easy parting ways with these kittens. But it never is, of course.
We couldn't be happier with the families we found for The Lovejoys. I think if you met them, you would all approve too.
Harlan and Nelson's Pa has agreed to sign a contract and continue to provide pics of the boys as they grow under one condition (yes, he added a
It's easy to do. Just pick up a few extra cans, or a case or a bag when you're at the store next, and drop them off at the shelter. Or, as Kat Box Janitor suggested, find a grocery store that delivers, place and order and have them send it to the shelter.
After you made a donation, let us know by leaving a comment on THIS post.
If everyone donated just a little bit, think of all the animals we could help together!
Once we see the donations roll in,, the pictures of Harlan and Nelson as they grow up will be released to the world.

Safeway will deliver (with a $50 minimum) to the Tacoma/Pierce county Humane Society. You can order online here.
they look all grown up with their collars on! what about donations to our local humane society? e.g. i'm in cache co. utah right now. or i could go closer and donate to greenhill in eugene, ore. next time i'm home..
ReplyDeleteI already donated from your post a few days ago, so I claim to have been grandfathered in.
ReplyDeleteMake with the pics.
That's great (and a nice touch) but what about Tressa? I hope we won't completely lose track of her--I want to see pics of her as she grows up. She's such a lovely girl.
ReplyDeleteYah!
ReplyDeleteWhat about a grandfather clause?! I donated three cases worth of Eagle Pack canned to the Houston Human Society. Rather than throw my beloved-late Morgan's chow away because her brother Azzy doesn't like it, I lugged it to the Humane Society and donated it, keeping an eye out for the next kitty that will pick me to be its forever Mom.
Oh, I miss them already!
ReplyDelete-Brooke - I'm also in Cache Valley, and the local Humane Society is out on Valley View Highway, (200 North and 2370 West). They would probably love a donation. :)
AmazonFresh delivers in Seattle free with a $30.00 minimum :-)
ReplyDeleteYay for Harlan & Nelson's Pa!!! Sounds like he is an awesome cat-dad already!
ReplyDeleteI donated a couple of cases to my local foodbank. My vet was having a food drive to try to help folks in crisis keep their pets home & out of the shelters.
Hurray for continued Lovejoy pictures!
ReplyDeleteHomer and Henrietta just gave a gift card to the local pet store to the CATSNAP. http://www.catsnap.org/
After my foster gets a home, I'll donate to the shelter where I volunteer. My fostering is on the opposite end of the spectrum from your guys--still cute cats, but I always get the older ones. Currently I have a super sweet fourteen year old if anyone on here is in the DC area. He's a total cuddler.
ReplyDeleteWell, I donated to the Tacoma/Pierce County site last week when you first posted and I am going to be taking my leftover kitten cans (and probably some more stuff to) when I get a chance this week. I am also going to be taking some kitty litter that was never opened (cats refused to use it and we had gotten 2 big bags - boy was that a fun week of trying to convince them) since they can probably use that too. I think that should get us some updates on all 4, don't you?
ReplyDeleteThe boys look adorable with their collars on. I will miss all of them tons but am so glad they have found wonderful homes!!
I just donated a bag of Innova low-fat dog food to the Seattle Animal Shelter. Not kitty food but still food for another species of four-legged friends. Also, I'll confess I bought the bag unintentionally since I was in a hurry and ended up buying the wrong kind of food, but rather than return it, I thought it would be better to give it to the shelter.
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious to know exactly how you find the homes for these babies. And does your blog help?
ReplyDeletei volunteer at and am planning to donate to the spca of central florida the next time i'm there, which is the 30th! i have a bunch of cans and some treats too!
ReplyDeleteI donate food every week to our local animal shelter, Ty Agored. (As I said in an earlier comment!) That's in Aberystwyth, Wales; tell the kitties that!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think I see two tiny suitcases in this photo. These two absolutely adorable boys look exactly as though they're going on an important, big journey. Probably because they are - the trip of their lives.
ReplyDeleteHooray for their Pa. Way to go.
We donate regularly to our local (Santa Clara County, CA) SPCA, but this inspired me to donate to yours, too. It feels good.
I've just bought a 20lb bag of kitty food for the Nine Lives Foundation here in Redwood City. Will be taking it on over tomorrow. Does this count?
ReplyDeleteEvery donation counts,, any shelter, anywhere,, cat or dog food,, whatever.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, if you donated before you are grandfathered in.
Thanks, folks! Keep it coming!
Hurray for the Lovejoys, inspiring us to spread the Love and Joy!
ReplyDeleteSigh - those tags are ginormous at their age....they will groew into them, and it sounds like they got an awesome new forever home.
I will order later this week, after I see what is in the budget after another case of feline K/D (kidney diet) food...
Donation dutifully made to the Maryland SPCA, bring on the kitten pictures! (like we needed an excuse to write *that* check...)
ReplyDeleteSince I'm in MD, donated cash to Tacoma HS, instead. Will run some cans over to MD SPCA, too... it's just a few min. from where I work.
ReplyDeleteSecond the opinion that Harlan & Nelson's dad shows real potential! What a great clause for a great cause!
I'm heading into my local shelter this week with some toys my kitty has no interest in and a spare cat carrier that we don't use. I'll add a bag of food to that delivery.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all you do.
I'm a college student, so I don't have much to spare at the moment, but if it helps, I volunteer at my local humane society and my parents donate in my name as an annual birthday gift :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Ma'am! :) To the shelter where I volunteer!
ReplyDeletewow, this is really overwhelming! so many wonderful donations all over the country (and wales too). special thanks to laurie and the babes' new pa for this APB.
ReplyDeleteand bethany, there is a special place for you in heaven for caring for that sweet 14-year-old kitty. bless your heart!
tomorrow is my volunteer day at the tacoma hs, i'll drop off my donations so count me in, laurie!
That is certainly a clause I can get behind! We actually just dropped off 2 cases of food to the Frederick Animal Rescue people this past weekend since our little boy decided (AFTER we ordered 2 CASES) that he didn't like that flavor (Natural Balance Venison & Green Pea)anymore! It's like that old saying goes "Dogs have owners - Cats have STAFF!".
ReplyDeleteI'm a first time visitor to your lovely blog and I must say I'm hooked, so...
ReplyDeleteOn it. There will be a donation to the HS sometime this week-ish... or the following, pending payday.
Please, pictures, please.

ReplyDeleteFood isn't all that is needed. If you have any crafting ability, or know anyone that does, please take a look into the Snuggles Project. Unfortunatly, not all kitties and pups get to live in loving foster homes like Laurie offers, and they could really use something soft and warm to cuddle with (and learn to make biscuts on!).
Thank you Laurie for hosting the IBKC Blog and for being an awesome foster home for kitties from The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County! We also appreciate your reminder to folks to donate food to their local shelters. While the Tacoma shelter feeds Science Diet dry food, we also need canned Friskies classic pate for the vet staff to use for kitties who need meds. We provide food to families in financial stress for their pets so that they don't surrender them to the shelter for lack of resources, so our Pet Food Bank is always in need of both dry and canned food. We love to refer folks to your site because the photos always bring smiles. Kathleen, HSFTPC Director
ReplyDeleteI donated food and an old carrier to my local Petsmart Charity.
ReplyDeleteDonated to my local shelter!
ReplyDeleteI'm a first time visitor to your blog. I love kitty pictures! You are a special person to foster....if it's with me more than 2 weeks, I can't part with it. That's why I have 10 cats and a dog!
ReplyDeleteThis past Friday I donated 30 one pound bags of kitten chow to my local shelter.....I felt that that was the least I could do since I took a VERY pregnant stray to them a couple weeks ago! I just ordered 10 more coupons for more free kitten chow to donate.....it's a great feeling.
What lovely pics of them..I am in Ireland, so I ordered a large food selection (over 50Kg) + plenty of kitty toys for animalcaresociety.ie Hope that counts.. Good bye Lovejoy babies, I will miss you soooo much.. - Jeanne
ReplyDeleteYOU ALL are amazing !
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I get back from my trip,, I'll be posting lots of new pics from Harlan and Nelson's family!
xo Laurie
I just donated $25 to the Arizona Humane Society. You can donate online at azhumane.org. I have been a supporter for five years.
ReplyDeleteI live the pics and the kitty stories!
We donate to both animal rescue organizations, as foster parents, and to the food bank.
ReplyDeleteWe've got a big local shelter, so big that it buys food in bulk, so I gave it cash instead, to make it go that much further.
ReplyDeleteI wish it were teeny tiny, though!
I'm off with my family for the holiday weekend, but as soon as I'm home again, there'll be a donation from me to add to the list! Not sure whether it'll be to yours or a local shelter, but either way, there'll certainly be something. This's one Wisconsinite who's plenty happy to spread the kitty love. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for the snuggles project link, by the way. I'm a rather beginner weaver, so this is very good to know.
