I remember seeing Springsteen in college, mid-80's, and after two solid hours of rockin' he said "I'm, just gettin' warmed up!" and played for another hour and a half.
funny you should mention that, but butterbean quarantine is what i've been jokingly calling the room we're sponsoring. the itty bitty kitty community will be honored on the plaque... maybe butterbean too. we'll have to see how much space there is on it!
another vote for Butterbean Quarantine. lol We, your fans, say it alot, I know. But YOU are truly amazing and the fundraising by your furry crew is the sugar sprinkles on top.
Oh my, oh my, oh my!!! We've got to thank elaine again for suggesting that an ambitious goal was well within reach!!! And Laurie (and the committee) for being wise enough to go for it!
What an awesome community! Sue nailed it - my heart just swells thinking about it!
Put down another vote for the Butterbean Quarantine. The kitty's got spend a little time in the BQ before making it out into the world. That has a nice sound. So official. BQ, the IBKC HQ.
yep. 15squilllliionnn!!so so happy to see that first thing in the morning..Now little Hubie, all the phone lines are for your girlfriends!!!Great Job Laurie and all the sweet sweet sweet Darlings...
Yay!! *Happy Dance* I am so thrilled for the IBKs and the IBK Community. Count me in for Butterbean Quarantine! You are so right; every single cat and kitten matters, so very much. Thank you for everything you are doing for the cats and kittens in your area!
I saw how close we were last night... and I dared to hope... I checked my checking account again (Nope, still no money)... I went to bed thinking, wow, we're so close...
And this morning...
I have said it before. It's an honor and a privilege to be part of this loving virtual community. There's so much smut and (forgive the rudeness) crap on the internet that it is more than refreshing to have something so good and so pure available to us 24 hours a day.
This is one of only a handful of sites I visit, without fail, every single day. Even if there are no new pictures, I go through the posts, because I want to know how you all are doing. I want to know if a certain picture reminds you of a kitty you used to have, or if another post reminds you of a story you once heard, or which lucky grown-up kitties have found homes. I want to console you through your losses and celebrate with your triumphs. And yes, I want to shed tears with you when "our" beloved kittens finally find their furever homes and graduate from the IBKC.
In Governor's school (high school, eek!), I first learned of the philosophy that all acts of kindness are in fact selfish ones - because the giver is made to feel good about him or herself as a result. I think I understand that a little now, so many years later, because I am downright proud of what we have done so far.
In the end, it's nice to know that even though each of us is so small in the universe and so far apart from each other geographically, we can still unite and do something truly good.
With sincere affection, Ms. Darin Nateharn Sujjavanich Holly Springs, North Carolina, USA
What else is there to say that hasn't already been said? I love feeling a part of this awesome on-line community known as the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee. You guys always "make my day!"
I could hardly wait to log on this morning to find out the awesome awesome news!!!!
HURRAY HURRAY!!
This has made me cry too. It is truly amazing!! With everything going on in the world these days this community has done something so wonderful, so heartwarming I think I am going to melt :) :)
Laurie, for all you and all the foster fur parents do for these kitties..you bring these little puff balls into your home and love them to bits until they are ready to face the world as confident, loving kitties. And, for the shelter, for without them it is hard to imagine what would happen to all the animals that pass through their doors everyday.
My vote for Butterbean Quarantine is official as well!!
congrats! i remember way back when, when the goal was 2 squillion, and it just kept creeping up and up cause it was getting reached so quickly. yay!!!!!!!! :D and omg LOVE this joyous little kitty face!!
Wish we could have given more, but our local Humane Society shelter had a major cat food crisis. So ... at the insistent noodging of our HS kitties Trudi, Miep and Gonzo (and with the encouragement of fellow feline friends Putt-Putt, Burl, and Dot) we also made a juicy donation to help feed the local kitties.
Putt-putt has got to be one of the cutest kitty names I've ever heard.
Oh, yes, and I'm hoping for the Butterbean Quarantine (or BQ for short) name on the plaque. Heck, a framed photo of our hero next to the plaque wouldn't be bad, either.
Or maybe one of those multi-photo frames, with various pictures of Miss Butterbean taking care of kittens on behalf of the shelter?

ReplyDeleteSo awesome, Laurie! If anyone could have done it...it was you. Although I'm sure the Darlings pushed any number of givers over the edge. :)

So glad you got the 15 squillions, it makes me feel less guilty about not donating....
ReplyDeleteBut before I get linched ;-)
We live in the UK so I gave to two local animal charities instead. RSPCA and Cats Protection who both have centers near where I live.
Wonderful news, Laurie! This is terrific! And count me as another vote for Butterbean Quarentine!
