Oh dear. I'm glad she likes to be called "Millie", because that's where I was going. Such a big name for such a tiny kitty. An orange girl kitty? Rare as hen's teeth! Welcome, baby girl. Those boys had better be good to her. :)
I'll take one to go please! :D Millicent/Milly is such a cute name for a cat! So old fashioned and beautiful! Milly seems like the perfect little lady for anyone she chooses to adopt.
I don't think I've been this in love with a kitten since Willamena. Seriously, that second picture...I was reduced to monosyllables for about five minutes. Wow.
That is the cutest little tail ever!! I can't wait until my kids get home today to see her. There are sure to be swooning. I am hoping that the tortie's name is Betty. She sure is a looker.
Anonymous: Broadly speaking, if both parent cats are ginger, all their daughters will be ginger, too. There's a tortie girl in this litter, though - so I suspect their dad is a ginger tomcat, and the mum is a tortie or a calico herself. Same case for the Darlings. There we even had two torbies, Selma and Lucinda ...
Ginger girls need to inherit the gene for ginger color from both parents. For ginger boys, only one ginger (or tortie or calico) parent is necessary. So ginger girls are indeed rarer than ginger boys - but by far not as rare as tortie or calico boys, who only crop up under really exceptional genetic circumstances.

ReplyDeleteGood morning Miss Millicent. Would you like to come and live in England?
ReplyDeleteOh Milly is just adorable! I love her sweet little face.
ReplyDeleteMartin - Laurie never mentioned what the tortie's name was! LAURIE....WHAT IS HER NAME!!!!??????
ReplyDeleteMilly is the kitty equivalent of a dreamsicle! She may be tiny but she packs an orange punch of cuteness!
ReplyDeleteI will be completely and totally envious of that lucky soul that lives near enough to the IBKC headquarters to adopt Milly.
Snorgles for darling Millie. She'll grow into her name, and then watch out!
ReplyDeleteNo one missed anything,, I haven't announced it yet.

Hello, little Milly! You've stolen my heart as have all the others in the Draper family (well, to be honest in all the past families as well).
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest little tail ever!! I can't wait until my kids get home today to see her. There are sure to be swooning. I am hoping that the tortie's name is Betty. She sure is a looker.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
The Van Dyke's
The Drapers. So brilliant. :) And what adorable little boys and girls!
ReplyDeleteI bet the tortie's name is going to be Dawn Draper. Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteDamn! Why do you have to be on the west coast when I am on the east coast and in love with Milly!!!!!!! She is the most adorable girl ever.
ReplyDeleteShe is a little darling!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to control myself, but it's very difficult. Three marmies and one's a girl. And an unnamed tortie!
ReplyDeleteMaybe she'll be "Lillian", but MAYBE, just maybe, she'll be "Mabel." :)
I'm with Jenna...The little lady tortie would make a beautfil Betty Draper...almost sounds like a play on Betty Grable's name. *heehee*
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Milly! As you've read, you already have a gaggle of admirers - as befites a cute little beauty bitty like you!

She is soo cute. Ah, four cats is not too many cats, right?!?
Cheers!
Oooh, I second the "Roxie" suggestion for the tortie. It'd be a perfect (purrfect? ;) ) name!
ReplyDeleteAw, she looks just like Francine Darling! But I'm surprised at all the orange tabby girls - I thought gingers were usually boys?
ReplyDeletegood morning gorgeous Milly...oh you made my day..just opened the browser and here you are..on my screen..gorgeous gorgeous girl...

Cute! I learned that ginger kitties are usually male. So she's quite special. Well, she is anyway of course... They all are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Nadine. I didn't know any of that except that calico kitties are almost always girls.
ReplyDeleteMilly is too precious for words.
Milly, Milly! *hugs*
