Goodbye My Little Musselmans
New to Tacoma and newly married, Seth and Lynna were looking for a pair of kittens to add to their lives . They found Darla and Olly on the Humane Society's online list of available pets, and Lynna emailed me Thursday to find out if they had been spoken for. They sounded wonderful, so we set up a meet and greet for Friday afternoon.
I think before they arrived, Lynna and Seth had made up their minds, these kittens were theirs, and meeting them was just a formality. It seemed the kittens knew this too, because I have to say, they didn't try very hard to impress them. They just napped comfortably in their laps.
I suppose just by showing how at ease they felt with these strangers, they were showing who they really are: sweet, trusting, little kittens. There was no need for somersaults, leaps, pounces or any other kitten antics to impress these folks. They just needed to say, "we love".
We chatted for awhile, filled out the paperwork, said our goodbyes and off the little family went.
I got an email from Lynna and it sounds as though the kittens are adjusting nicely to their new home, and of course, they love them already. Of course.
Spending the past week with the Twins, minus their litter mates, we really got to know these two. They are truly enchanting little beings and it was such a pleasure having them here. We miss them dearly, but wish them the best. Mostly, we're so happy they stayed together.

Congratulations, Seth & Lynna! What a precious pair have entered your lives. And just YIPPEE that those two are staying together.
ReplyDeleteI'm always torn between happy that the babies find homes, and sad that they are leaving. Sounds like Darla and Olly will have a lovely home and the best thing is that they are together!
ReplyDeleteThe best wedding presents ever!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs always, it is so great to hear the kittens found good homes and went off in pairs. (Waits 15 seconds.) Now where are you getting new kittens?
ReplyDeleteI also have this silly mental picture of the kitties in cap and gown being handed a little diploma from Charlene in full academic regalia: "Go forth and make me proud.", right before they go to their forever homes. Did The Bean's camera happen to catch this?
I'm sure Olly and Darla will be cherished in their new forever home, and as I like to think of it, they turned a married couple into a *family*. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to start a newlywed life! I've got a feeling D and O are going to be a perfect addition to the new family.
ReplyDeleteGoing to miss seeing those sweet, upturned faces, tho!
WELL. I hope Lynna and Seth have a camera.
ReplyDeletecuz we are going to be needing some growing up PICTURES! Yeah! I am so happy they found a home together. the story did kinda make me shed a tear though... bye bye little fuzzies.
Sounds like Olly and Darla found the perfect forever home. They have really grown to be gorgeous kitties.

ReplyDeleteAhhhhh. It's always so bittersweet when the babies find their forever homes. I'm so glad they got to stay together though.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Darla and Olly found such a nice family!!
ReplyDeleteThank God! I actually had a dream that my sister adopted Darla last night, but in the dream I was so worried about Olly. This is very good news, bittersweet to be sure, but very good. Blessings on all, and especially on the little black-and-white Musselmans.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to read this! And, best of all, they were their family's first choice. These people didn't know about the whole Musselman family. They chose Darla and Olly out of everyone available at the shelter. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the whole little family.
Aww. Enjoy your new home, loves.
ReplyDeleteYay Twittens!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss you, little ones! Have a happy life in your forever home!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time with your new humans and your forever home. We'll miss you lots, but are so happy that you've found your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy it is to see them go together!
ReplyDeleteHooray for being adopted as a pair! That's the BEST news possible. In addition to fostering, I love that you find the best homes for your charges.
ReplyDeleteIs it okay if I shed a tear that I couldn't adopt them, what with living in Texas and all? I'm going to be jealous for the next five minutes and then be really happy that they're together forever in a great home.
ReplyDeleteI love happy, purry endings.
ReplyDeleteI just hope we get lots of pix of their lives!
Lynna and Seth have joined the IBKC community - WELCOME!!!!
What a great beginning to a new life for all of them! Yay!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! It's perfect that they went to a couple, so there will be one lap per kitten.
ReplyDeleteAll happiness to you, Lynna and Seth, and there are so many purrs in your future, Darla and Olly!
How wonderful - we love a good ending to our stories! Bye-bye sweet kittens - you will always be Olly to me. :)
