This kitten is too cute for words. I had to comment at work, because if my own cats saw me browsing the internet for other kittens, they'd be extremely hurt and jealous.
The kittens you foster never seem to still be with their mothers. Why is that? Are there so many surrenders of just kittens without the mother cat? Are they separated from their mother's just prior to coming into foster care? When I foster kittens, the mother cat almost always is still in the picture and I foster her too.
Linda, There are babies that come into the shelter with their moms but we choose to foster only the orphaned kittens. With two grown girls in the house, I've never thought it would be a good idea to bring a third lady in. (especially a stressed out mama cat).
As for all the orphaned kittens, sometimes they are feral - babies are found and turned in and mama remains out there in the world. Sometimes orphans are surrendered by irresponsible cat owners - their cat gets pregnant, they keep the kittens until they are weened (and become more work and more expensive when you have to feed them), then surrender kittens to shelter and keep mama.
