Days with Drew - A Slide Show for You
Good morning, friends. I can't even begin to thank you for all the kindness and love that you've showered upon us. We've read every single word you've sent our way and we're touched by all of them.
Thank you for being there for us. I hope you know what a special bunch you are.
I put together a slide show of Drewey pictures. They're not in chronological order, but the last pictures of her are from the last days. Of course her early days are pre-digital camera, so this really only represents the past 8 years or so. It will take some time to go through boxes of photos and scan them too, but eventually I will do that and share those with you.
Thank you again. We love you.

ReplyDeleteps- have you thought about keeping Thelma Lyttelton? she looks a bit like drewey being gray and all..just a thought.
<3 you all!
Simply the best kitty face that ever there was. Ever. I love you Drewey.
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty little lady she was. rest in peace, drewey. you were loved, sweet girl.
ReplyDeleteSuch a noble cat. Drewey will indeed be missed.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute for a beautiful cat. The silence speaks volumes about your grief. She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Laurie. Thank you so much for sharing Drewey with us. Lots of love to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteDrewey was a sweet looking kitty.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you.
Thank you for sharing the pictures of this wonderful cat. You can see how the Bean liked her and how happy Drew was living with you.
ReplyDelete*Sniff*
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am very sorry for your loss but thanks for sharing these--and Drewey--with us.
What a sweet girl Drewey was...just precious. My Ginger is only 3 but she is already my cranky little girl and I love her all the more for it. Love the pics of Drewey sleeping with her paws over her face..so cute! Seeing the pictures of her with Butterbean makes me wonder, how is Bean doing? Does she miss her big sister Drewey? Laurie, thanks for the slide show, hope you and your family have a happy Easter weekend, same to everyone in IBK land!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful love-inspired pictures of Drewey. i wanted to kiss that space between her sweet ears.
ReplyDeletexx,
christine h
What a great slide show. She really was a regal gal and I am sure she still is now that she is on the bridge. And I think one of my favorite pictures ever from this website (although really, how do you choose just one?) is the one with Drewey looking at her reflection in the computer. Not sure why but it sure is cute to see her little face seeming to peer back at you. Comforting, warm thoughts are being sent your way.
ReplyDeleteShe certainly was a special girl and your pictures capture that beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing her with us. I have had a soft spot for the Drewster since I started following the blog a couple of years ago and I can only imagine how much you miss her.
Thanks for sharing the life of Drewy with us... May she attain the utmost peace....
ReplyDeleteI do agree with what grumpy wilf said! I know it is too soon but....
What a grand dame. My thoughts have turned to you often during this difficult time. I add my thanks for your generosity in sharing these fantastic pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your joy and pain with all of us. Know that there is one person in Denver who feels your pain.
ReplyDeleteAww... I missed yesterday's blog due to travel.. Having gone through the same thing a few months ago with my dear, sweet Dusty, the pain is still fresh, and believe me, I know how it feels. I'm so sorry, and know that there's nothing that any of us can say that will ease the pain. Be kind to yourself and to the Bean, I'm sure that she will miss Drewey too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your heartache though.

ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to read of Drewey's passing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the beautiful photos, Laurie. Hang in there, and my love to all of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laurie, for this extra look into the life of Drewey, grand dame extraordinaire. I loved the way the images focused mostly on Drewey's serious side, but then there'd be the occasional fun one (Drewey with cowboy hat and bandanna, Drewey with the garden duck). What a wonderfully multifaceted lady she was. May your family be blessed with peace and togetherness this Easter weekend and all year round.
ReplyDeleteI cried.
ReplyDeleteShe was a lovely little lady cat, and I'll miss seeing her pictures.
hugs from me and my Ash-cat and Kismet-dog.
Clare
Oh, my dearlings, what a beautiful tribute. Thank you for it, Laurie - I'm sure I'm not the only one who wept one little tear for the loss of her....but it trickled into a smile; her personality is so clear in each picture. Your gift with the camera is a blessing to me.
ReplyDeleteEvangeline and Lilliane got extra hugs (oh heck, yes - a little extra treat too) in her memory.
What a lovely tribute. I had to smile a little, especially the pictures of Drewey spying the tiny Butterbean. Thank you for sharing her memories.
ReplyDeletewe all have a drewey in our house. so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry for your loss. You have made a beautiful tribute.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute to a much loved family member.
ReplyDeleteLosing a pet is a hard rock in your heart.
So sorry for your loss.
Diane
Many thank yous for the slideshow and sharing Drewey with us. Her appearances always made me smile deep inside.
ReplyDeleteShe's a lucky cat to have had such a long life in such a loving household.
Much love, hugs, and comfort.
-Vally AG
Oh, hugs to you. I know you will miss Drewey.
ReplyDeleteOne of the great sadnesses in life is that we live so much longer than our pets, and so must outlive them. But at least this is balanced by the ability to bring so many more into our lives. My deepest sympathies for your loss.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou could tell which ones were of her in the last few days. She did look like an old lady :(
ReplyDeleteAhhh Drewey, your face spoke volumes. Charlene may have the charm, but you always had the gravitas.
Drewey looks so happy in all those pictures. You gave her a wonderful life. Hugs from me and my little old lady cat, Callie.
ReplyDeleteI will miss the resident IBKC crank. RIP Drewey!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to dear Drewey! Such a great personality - it comes through with every picture. I love the pictures of her dealing with a young Charlene - they really were pals, although both would probably deny that. Prrrs to you all from Cagney (an other old lady cat) and me!
ReplyDeleteSmiling through tears - what a lovely and loving trip through your wonderful memories of a very special kitty. Hugs!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful memorial to drewey. thank you for sharing it, laurie.
ReplyDeletelooking thru i just wanted to kiss those beautiful little white toes with spotted pads and her sweet little tummy and pink nose.

Wow.What a great Maude face she had - always expressive, always being She Who Will Not Be Ignored.
ReplyDeleteWe will miss Drewey and hope your house isn't silent for too long.
So sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose a furry child.
ReplyDeleteYou have my condolences and my love in this time of sorrow.
Thanks, Laurie. It is just a lovely retrospective. I loved that cranky old lady from afar and I will miss her.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I see her finding Hyacinth's Poppy at the bridge (after a nice tour to meet and greet old friends). And the two grey lady curmudgeons settling down for a good discussion on how to save the world from idiots.
thank you, that was beautiful. how lucky you are to have had 18 years of Drewey love, and how lucky she was to have 18 years of Laurie & Craig love.
ReplyDeleteDrewey you were a beauty inside and out! The Drewey posts have always been my favorite (and that's saying a lot with so many delicious kittens to choose from).
ReplyDeleteI watched with tears in my eyes and my 20 yr old boy cat J-Kun draped over my shoulder. He's also a little worse for wear these days. My heart goes out to you.
Love,
The Townhouselady & her 5 indoor and 2 outdoor cats.
Thank you for sharing Drewey (and all the kitties) with us. I loved Drewey from afar from the first moment I saw her. We both were one with our inner cranks. I will miss her dearly and can only imagine how your hearts must feel. I hope that the love and warm thoughts of all the IttyBitty followers will help.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you lost your Drewey. Still, she lived to a good age and, thanks to you, had a lovely life. Again, many condolences.
ReplyDeleteDrewey's pursed/puckered little mouth has always made my heart flutter. Thank you for sharing these. The ones where she is looking at a younger Charlene as she kittens about are so precious. But I really love the picture of Drewey in the bathtub with Charlene looking at her. Oh Drewey, such a wonderful life you had you little sweetpuss.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. Thanks, Laurie, for sharing these photos and Drewey with us. I love her but you knew that.
ReplyDeleteThat was truly beautiful, and Drewey was certainly a lucky girl to have such wonderful parents. You gave her a great life and she will forever be remembered through the IBKC. Once again, we send our condolences, love, and support to you, Craig, and Charlene.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Drewey. Eighteen is an immense age, she looks so lovely in the photos. Thank you for sharing these with us.

I just wanted to write in and send you my condolences. I've had the pleasure of following your blog for a while now, and I always loved seeing pictures of Drewey. I was so very sorry to read about her passing. Thank you for sharing her with us.
ReplyDeleteMy beloved 18+ y/o cat died a year ago today so I understand how you feel. So sorry to hear about Drewey- she was a wonderful cat and was clearly well loved. Sending happy thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute to Drewey. Such wonderful pictures to have and cherish. Losing a furkid is so very hard and the pain sometimes feels like it will never go away. I am just so very sorry about your loss of such a dear kitty and I'm so glad that you have so many pictures to treasure. (I always take hundreds of pictures of my kitties and dogs and decades later are still looking at them and remembering the good times and the love). Lots of love, Debbie
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your sweet & cranky Drewey with us via these wonderful pictures. I hope the loving memories you have of her will bring you at least some small measure of comfort at this painful time. RIP, Miss Rooster. You will be missed by many.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace little Drewey:) Say hi to my beloved Charlie in the afterlife! Frank and I will continue to embrace our inner crank in your honor:)
ReplyDeleteThis was beautiful. Thank you for putting together this slideshow and sharing it with us. I only wish every cat has the chance to be as lucky as Drewey. She may have been grumpy looking, but we all know those cats are the sweetest and best to those they love. Keeping you in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteDrewey was surely the Grande Dame of Contented Crankiness. The dowager queen living a serene life of many pleasures, including the pleasures of a good grumble about youngsters and younger sisters.
ReplyDeleteI just remembered the fundraising we did for The Butterbean Quarantine room.
ReplyDeleteWhile the Human Society probably needs unrestricted gifts more than anything, I like the idea of counting a total of gifts in honor of Drewey in the number of cases of food for older cats.

ReplyDeleteA wonderful slide show. I truly enjoyed watching the expressions on her oh-so-expressive face.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have the support of Craig, Charlene, the Itty Bitties and this community. I am sure it helps...
Great idea AnnF! An idea worthy of The Crank.
What a beautiful, elegant lady she was. I am so terribly, terribly sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteShe was a gorgeous little lady. I was heartbroken to hear about her passing. She had a long and happy life. Every one needs a little bit of crab in their life and she always made me think of my old crabby cat.
ReplyDeleteRIP Drewey. You were loved and we miss you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laurie, for sharing these pictures with us. Thank you for letting us get to know Drewey and say goodbye to her. Hugs to you, Craig, Charlene, and all the itty bitties.
Such a beautiful Drewey..thanks Laurie for sharing all those memorable pics with us..She will stay in our hearts forever.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick question: does Charlene know that Drewey is gone? She might knows something is up I'd say...
Loads of Love from me and Adventure Kitty...
This brought tears to my eyes...thank you for sharing... she was a beautiful lady.
ReplyDeletedeb (and stinky)
I cried when I read the original post.
ReplyDeleteI cried yesterday when I told my husband.
I'm crying again now after watching the slideshow.
Thank you for sharing her with us.
It is never easy to lose an old friend. Thank you for giving all of us fans of Drewey the chance to share these memories and say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteSweet old girl. Thanks for the bittersweet slideshow. Sending you all hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. I have my own cranky old lady cat snoozing on my lap, and I know how much they mean. Thanks for the slideshow; you gave her a lovely life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely lady. She will be missed. Thank you for the slideshow and hugs to all of you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing Drewey, Bean and babies with us. Having had cats aged 13,17,19 and 21, the shock of their passing is deep and painful.
ReplyDeleteBut knowing their time is over is horrible. Thank you for sharing with us the good, the bad and the Drewey. She will be missed by many.
I've only been reading for a few months, and as much as I love Bean and the Babies, I have had a special soft spot for Drewey. I really enjoyed your recent post about 20 things we might not know about her.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss. What a lovely, special girl she was.
What a precious cat, and such wonderful pictures and memories! Thank you for sharing these heart-warming glimpses into her life with us.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful slide show, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this slideshow of the fabulous Drewey! I know how much you are missing her. Each kitty has its own space in our hearts and lives and when they are gone, a little piece of our heart goes with them. Sending warm thoughts your way & thinking that Drewey may be meeting up with my little cranky Alice. They would make a pair...
ReplyDeleteI don't usually comment, but I have to say how sorry I am to hear about your dear Drewey. She was obviously a very special cat, who deigned to share her love with select few. Our time with our furry ones is all too short, and the immense grief is a representation of the deep loving bond between you and Drewey.
ReplyDeleteFly free Drewey! I hope the Rainbow Bridge is everything you hoped it would be!
Hi - What a sweet, dignified and serene little lady cat Drewey was. A little while back when you posted some photos of her, I got a cringe of "uh-oh." I'd seen that look before. Just this past December, I lost Shaidii. He'd been with me almost 18 years. He meant the world to me and, even when you know this is coming, the loss is still a shock. There was so much about him - his habits & our relationship - that I miss, like I miss cats I've lost before him ... Cif, Marco, Chelsea, Afreyt and Toast ... I've got two sweeties with me now, Daena & Buzz. New habits, new kitties (3 years & 7 months). But like people, no two cats are alike. Thanks so much for sharing Drewey, Charlene and all your wonderful little ones with us. It makes my day in ways I can barely describe. Blessing to you, Craig, Charlene & the littles.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauuuuutiful girl. She is in my heart forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Lady! Thank you for sharing the slide show with us.
ReplyDeleteI am a human servant to 3 cats, on who is a beautiful 15 year old lady cat that also has an inner crank but incredible sweetness and willingness to trust that I see in Drewey's face too. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Cheri
What a lovely lady. ^_^ Thanks for sharing the photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these photos. She was a beautiful, distinguished lady. I know the pain of losing an elderly cat and it's not easy. Know that you're in my thoughts.
