Wow, Laurie, you do get the very cutest kittens evah! Roland and his siblings are ALL adorable. Kittens in our rescue tend to be either 1) black or 2) brown tabby. A very few black and whites or grays or oranges, almost no floofies. Yes, they're cute, but not much variety... Do we have a different gene pool in Austin?
You know, Anne, you may not be too far off base when you say Roland is working his Walter Cronkite thing - Go to Amazon and take a look at the cover photo of Cronkite's autobiography "A Reporter's Life" There is some resemblance...
Too cute.. I agree about loving the name, partially because I also love the Dark Tower series. Rough and tumble, always true to those you love, soft on the inside.. true to character! I can't wait to see how this little man's character develops :) ♥
I can see the top reporter or senior picture ideas, but with that sober yet inquisitive look I've got to say my first thought is that he's offering to listen if anything's troubling you.
Btw... IBKC alumnus, Elvis of the blog Albert and Elivs blog is very very ill.... He could use some prayers and good wishes... http://albertandelvis.blogspot.com/
Ah, He does look the part of brave Roland; I wonder where he hides his olifant to call upon Charlemagne. Okay, so uber geek that I am, I immediately went to La Chanson de Roland.
Look at that distinguished pose Mr. Roland Furman. Ah the softness is palpable.
ReplyDeleteRoland looks quite professorial in this picture.
ReplyDeleteIs this Roland's senior picture?
ReplyDeleteThe handsome little floofernutter's name suggests he could be a TV anchorman -
ReplyDelete"The Evening News with Roland Furman" has a ring to it!
Oh, Roland, what a precious little bundle of floof you are!
ReplyDeleteHi Mister Bister! He is just too much. I love him already.
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOVE the name Roland! This might be because I love The Dark Tower series, but still!
ReplyDeleteIt really does SCREAM "sturdy, dependable...but all soft inside", doesn't it?
What a little heartbreaker! I think he's my favorite of this litter...
ReplyDeleteRoland! Quite the distinguished name for an itty bitty, and it looks like it suits him to a T. Or, is it an "R"?
ReplyDeleteHe's Roland-Poland (Roly-Poly for short).
ReplyDeleteStay classy, Itty Bitty Kitties! ("Anchorman" reference.)

ReplyDeleteAnother winner of a name! I'm with Melissa on the Roly-Poly look of him. And I do think there's a certain Walter Cronkite potential too.

Bounce around kitties,
Then off to beddy!

What a doll and what big paws you have there, Roland!

ReplyDeleteWe love you, dear, serious Roland!
Wow, he's so beautiful! Wonderful floofy picture, Laurie!
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this looks like his senior picture. Can I propose we add Ph.D. to the end of his name?
ReplyDeleteSo cute! What a handsome young man... I mean kitteh! ^__^
ReplyDeleteA good strong name. Roland is going to be one handsome mancat when he grows up. :-)
