I'm Their Mother, She's My Sister, He's My Brother

Yes, I'm their mother, she's my sister, he's my brother.

Let me explain...you see my little foster children, Nigel and Mimsey Frost, are being adopted by MY parents, which will make them my siblings too. And I guess that makes Charlene their sister, and they are her aunt and uncle. And Craig would be both their father and brother-in-law too.

Did you hear that? MY PARENTS, Dave and Sharon, are adopting Nigel and Mimsey Frost!!!

MY PARENTS!!!

I know you're excited. Well, maybe a few of you are crushed because you wanted them too. But MOST of you are excited because you know this means we'll be keeping close tabs on this adorable pair.

Of course we've got to figure out how we're going to get them to Iowa, where my parents live. We're working out a plan right now.

I know some of you have inquired in the past about adopting kittens from afar. Normally, I keep our kittens local, but because these two people are the reason I am on this planet, I'm willing to bend the rules for them. Just them.

Nigel still has a couple of ounces to gain before can go, but it won't be too much longer. So yes, they're short-timers, but in a way, they're life-timers too.

  3. EEEEEEE!!! i'm so happy!!

  4. Yay! I'm sure they will have a wonderful life growing up in America's Heartland. (As a former Iowan, I know these things.)

  5. Aww, this is wonderful! I will be delighted to see updates about them from time to time as they grow. Congratulations to your parents!

  6. Yaaaaaaaay!!!!
    That's awesome news!

(really, how could your parents resist.... it's kind of impossible)

  7. Exciting! Why these particular kittens though? We've been trying to get your parents to adopt pretty much every litter.

  8. Well, we've always known your dad is the "Kitten Whisperer". Now we've finally met the kittens who are the "Dave Whisperers".

I spent the better part of my childhood wishing for a younger brother or sister. After I was married with kids of my own, my parents got a Bichon puppy who they refer to as my brother. Hooray for white fuzzy brothers! (And for adorable kitty sisters too!)

  9. GreatShe,, there were lots of factors involved. Mostly, the timing is just good.

  10. This is such wonderful news for everyone involved!

  11. Dooohhhh! Omigosh, this is exciting. Your folks are true cat people, and I am so happy to see a couple of little kitties go their way. Fortunately, the kids are small, so if your folks fly there won't be a problem with weight restrictions or carrier size.

    ReplyDelete
  12. That is wonderful news! They will have a great home, and just maybe we'll get updates on them too!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Whoooohoooooo!!!!!! Yea for purrfect timing!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I hope they keep the orginal names because they are purrfect! So, when your parents visit you will they be bringing the two fur balls too?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Woohooo, Laurie!!! The kitten magnet must be mighty powerful to attract kittens all the way from Iowa! And you make exceptions for all the right reasons, I remember how Maddie Bouvier found her forever home!

    ReplyDelete
  32. In your link to all the posts with your parents, the first one on Oct 22, 2007, said maybe they were on there way to being cat people. Well, it took a little over three years, but you were right!

    ReplyDelete
  33. It just don't get no better than this here!

    ReplyDelete
  34. How are you going to get them there ?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yay! Lucky kitties indeed! I'm flying my two kitties to Michigan in cargo in 2 weeks and I'm so nervous. I'm going to be miserable until I know that they're home and comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hooray! Your parents seem like such wonderful, kind-hearted people. Nigel and Mimsey are so lucky to be the chosen kittens :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hmmm, I'm thinking when these two beauties leave your house their "left the nest" photos will have to sport asterisks...because they really won't have left after all. Way to go Frostlings!

    ReplyDelete
  38. "Is this heaven?...no it's Iowa" :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. FANTABULOUS NEWS!!! How very serendipitous for both your parents and the Frosts...hurray! but hee, kittens, quite the adjustment hmmm? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Congrats to all involved. Now wouldn't it be weird now Laurie that you'll be on the other end of the internet video calls?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Perfect! I can't imagine a better home for these two!

    Great quote, Cat!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Instead of trying to figure out how to transport the Frosts to Iowa, maybe your parents could just move out here to the Sea-Tac area.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Looks like the seed planted by the Finches has sprouted in the Frosts. :) I thought before that Mimsey reminded me of Walter and/or Ira in appearance just a little, so this is nice to see. Plus that gloriously fluffy boy (did you regret using the name Lambert already?)

Anyone else think of Jabberwocky every time they see these kitties' names? "'Twas brillig and the slithy toves / Did gyre and gimble in the wabe / All mimsy were the borogoves / And the mome raths outgrabe." (Apologies for misspellings; I'm going on very old memory here!)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Boy oh boy oh boy!!! First my Giants win the World Series, then Sharon and Dave adopt Nigel and Mimsey. God's in her Heaven and all's right with the world. :)))

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wow! Guess it was finally the right match between your parents and the itty bitties. :)

    Awesome all around!

    ReplyDelete
  46. that's wonderful!! I am thrilled for you all!

  48. your 2007 post --
"They are well on their way to becoming "cat people". Maybe my next visit home, I'll bring them a kitten."

And you'll be giving them 2 kittens.

  50. That is great news, lucky parents and lucky kittens ;o).....I have only fostered one kitten so far with the shelter that I volunteer with, but i was able to place him with my son and his girlfriend so I can see him every now and then, it's a win-win for everyone. Looking forward to hearing all about the upcoming adoption and travel to Iowa for these dear little kitties!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yay for Dave and Sharon and Nigel and Mimsey!

I assume your parents are well aware of their obligation to the blogosphere to provide pictures at regular intervals? :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yay the Kitten Whisperer aka Papa is going to be getting his very own kitty! Congrats! When my parents had their dog, it was frequently mentioned it was my sister. It is the running joke in our family. They say the dog is my sister and tell them my two cats are their grandkids. Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  69. That is just fabulous news and I'm so excited your family relations have gotten so crazily complicated! Good job mom & dad!!!
