Is it the new couch?
Nope. But that's pretty exciting.
What is it, kittens?
Oh dear! A dog!
No need to worry. Bean's got the situation under control.
The dog is Dulcey and she LOVES kittens. You've met her before, she usually comes by around Christmas with her owner, Sarah. Last year when she came through she met Walter and Ira Finch. A couple years back, she met the Darlings.
Dulcey is harmless, but still, the kittens kept a safe distance. Bean, however, was not afraid. Or amused.
I love how big Clarence's eyes are in the 4th picture...and how the rest of the clan are looking at the dog, but Clarence is fixing his gaze anywhere but. I can hear him now "If I don't see it, it doesn't exist. If I don't see it, it doesn't exist." Don't worry Clarence, Charlene will make sure Dulcey doesn't over stay her welcome. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove how protective Charlene is at standing guard over the little ones :)
ReplyDeletePoor Dulcey probably just wants to play and is confused that everyone else isn't excited to have a new playmate too
Great new couch by the way! :) Complements the kitties' colours perfectly
Awww... they are so cute. And that is a very nice couch, what happened to the other one near the window/
ReplyDeletePoor Dulcey, in that last pic it looks like Charlene is scolding her for making such a ruckus. Either that or for tracking mud into HER house.
ReplyDeleteAww....dear Dulcey! I love how the kittens reacted, all differently.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, we're all excited about the new couch!
The new couch is very exciting - especially as it shows off the kittens so well!
ReplyDeleteI love Dulcey. She should come visit the kittens more often, IMHO. :)
ReplyDeleteClarence's eyes kept getting bigger and bigger! But where did Imogene end up? It looks like she disappeared in #4 - did she end up closer to the D-O-G?
ReplyDeleteWe love those dogs that are willing to help "train" new kittens. And how is it that kittens react like that with no background about dogs?? Funny....
ReplyDeleteBrooke, Dulcey lives in SF and only come around these parts once or twice each year.
ReplyDeleteClaire, Xmas tree is in the window now. Brown couch will relocated to another room or may just go away.
Gee, if you'd like an 8-foot reverse camelback couch that needs to be re-covered, I could hook you up... It's kitty approved and nap certified, but too big for my place.

naww. this kittens are getting so big! still not big enough to feel brave with the dog though.
ReplyDeletelol that really made me laugh! Thankyou! lol
ReplyDeleteDulcey looks so sweet! I'd say it seems the babies reacted pretty well; unlike a certain Hubie Darling... But Walter Finch is still the bravest of them all!
ReplyDeleteLove Imogene's prairie dog neck in the 3rd photo. So cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my, just looked at the Finch post with Dulcey... has it been almost a year?? Oh, how I could have moved to Seattle just to adopt those two... Not that every one else before and since isn't special, but those two were SPECIAL... Glad to see Bean is on duty, and more relaxed that when she had Walter to worry about becoming a DOG snack... At least the Bartletts aren't giving her quite as many gray furs... yet...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful new couch, but has it passed the "Craig sleeps with kittens" test yet?
ReplyDeleteHa, I love your description of Charlene's reaction to the dog: not afraid, or amused. Good for her!
ReplyDeleteGood to see all the kittens filling out and fun to see the dog visit photoessay! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLove the puffed up kitty photo. Not surprised that Miss Bean isn't amused by the dog. One swipe from her and I bet that dog will run!
ReplyDeleteMy word, Dulcey is the exact same coloring as our Busy. The Livelies had about the same reaction to Busy as the Bartletts to Dulcey... However, the Livelies are now quite fond of their doggy big sister.
ReplyDeleteCute! (And I like the couch, too!)
ReplyDeleteumm, new visitor and seeing flickr errors where wonderful kittens should be :(
