Almost Time...

DSC_0354

Marcel and Imogene Bartlett will be leaving us this evening, so we are savoring these last few hours with them. We'll miss them, but it's time for them to go. They're getting big. Especially Marcel whose getting SO long and wide too. Imogene has delicate features, and her body, though sleek, is quite muscular. She looks half his size, but weighs just a couple ounces less.

Don't they make the loveliest pair?

Here you can see a bit of Imogene's smokey patches. Everyone who's ever met her has said they've never seen a cat with coloring like hers. And "everyone" includes some folks that have seen a WHOLE lot of cats in their day.

I'll tell you all about their family tomorrow. I think you'll be pleased when you learn where they are going.

Tune in tomorrow, friends.

  7. My Cicero, a light orange tabby with a whitish face, has smoke going down the midline of his tail. No patches though.

They are lucky kitties to get to stay together.

  8. All I want is for them to go to a home that will love and care for them their whole lives. That will please me plenty. The same goes for every cat and kitten in the world.

  9. They look so happy piled together. It's a hard life, huh, itties?

I wonder if Madama Butterbean thought that Imogene's spots needed some extra washing?

  10. so sweet together -- probably some of Marcel's dark coat has rubbed off on Imogene when they're spooning together. :)

  13. Maybe she is a mosaic(having abnormal number of chromosomes) or a chimera, this happens when 2 fertilized eggs fuse after fertilization resulting in a single fetus made up of multiple genetic profile's giving the skin area's that are coded for different colors. Cool huh? This can happen in all animals including people. People usually don't even know it unless they have a genetic profile done.

  14. Little Imogene, did your genes decide that becoming a muted tortie/torbie was too much work or came with too much stigma about the tortie-tude, so they just gave up, and went for the overall light orange color? Regardless, you are beautiful and are one lucky gal to be headed to your forever home with your big handsome brother <3

  21. Awww!

I'd wondered about mosaicism/chimerism as a cause for Imogene's coat, too. Whatever the reason, she's quite the little darling.

  22. JasonInIllinois -- Amen to that!! I fervently wish for the same things each and every day! :)

  25. My co-worker (in FL) has a kitty like Imogene. Here name is Penzoil as she looks like she has oil smudges on her. Imogene is now the second kitty I have seen with this coloring.

  26. Penzoil! That's cute! I think she looks like like she has rubbed around on an oily engine or bike chain.

    What Jason said!!!!
