She's so adorable! Where does Miss Bean get her sparkle balls? I've looked several different places, but can't seem to find some for my own kitties. :(
@Becky - I just got some for my cats at Michaels! They're with the foam shapes. :) I didn't think my little kitties (4 years old) would like them but they adore them! :)
Most kitties just love the sparkle balls! If they're new to them, keep an eye for a while. My Minnie likes to chew on them like bubble gum and I'm afraid she might swallow. No sparkle balls here.
OMC - that was great. What I think I love the most is that she has you trained to throw them to her so she doesn't have to get off the back of the chair! :)
I'm with RF, of course it's Charlene's favorite game; all she has to do is lie there while you do all the work. Way to go Charlene! I'll bet she Tweets this video and says, "Look what I've taught Laurie and Craig to do!".
AWWW Dusty/Klepto....so cute...Not as cute as Miss Bean, though.
Miss Laurie, I have to admire Miss Bean's leather perch. My leather library chair looks like we ran over it with the lawn aerator. Mommy said she gives up and it doesn't get new leather until somewhere freezes over. Which is odd because it has frozen over here a few time this winter.
I usually pick up sparkle balls at the smaller pet stores. You usually don't see them in the big box pet stores, unless they're part of an assorted toy pack.
You can find them at craft stores for much cheaper than pet stores, but they don't seem as sturdy as the pet store variety. They shred easily, and can become potentially hazardous. The pet store ones can shred eventually too, and when it gets to that stage, I always throw them out.
This reminds me of the stories my dad used to tell me about his old cat D'artagnan! Apparently while he and my mom were living in a lofted apartment, D'artagnan would stick his head through the loft banisters and swat a ball of tinfoil back down to them. They called it volleyball.
Riza and Mei like sparkle balls too, but only the smaller size, and they tend to munch on them if I don't watch them. Good thing they're cheap and easily replaceable. For SeaTac area folks, I get them at Mud Bay.
Roxie loves her fuzzy faux fur mini mice. Her favourite game is laying on the top platform of the cat tower and I throw the mouse up at her. She bats it every time, it looks like she is body slamming the poor little mouse to the floor. Depending on the trajectory..sometimes I get a mouse back in the face ;)
I have also tried it with paper balls and all other various balls we have around the house and it doesn't matter this size, she gets it everytime :)
Yes...she has me well trained too to sit on the floor and throw her toys up for her :)
Mud Bay Granary in Green Firs shopping center, University Place, has the small sparkle balls that my cats love. We must have 30 hidden away somewhere in the house -- the cats bat them around and carry them like prey, and then they stash them somewhere. I think they're behind the dishwasher....
Miss Bean you have skills! My cats love to hang out on their cat tree and have me throw their sparkle ball or some of the soft felt like balls to them of which they bat down. It is a fun game for them and me.
Thanks for showing us another one of your many talents, Miss Bean. My girls love their sparkle balls, too. Floofy girls and sparkle balls are the best!
Where does one find sparkle balls...I have several family kitties who would be ga ga about them. (They currently find balled up aluminum foil irrisistable!)
Our 9 year old black kitty loves his sparkle balls too. He also likes to tear them to shreds and leave the sparkly innards all over the house. As a result we buy a big canister of them every year. Does Charlene shred her sparkly prey? Fortunately (but somewhat oddly) on the few occasions when a mouse has found its way into the house, Toby has not shredded his plaything. When 14 pound cat lands on mouse, mouse really stands no chance....
Aww...I wish my kitteh liked sparkle balls too. She just ignores hers even when I try to toss them to her. :(

ReplyDeleteI liked her "composure grooming" in the middle of play time...
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see more of The Bean when you are kittenless! She would make quite a shot blocker were the Sonics still around.

ReplyDeleteThat is amazing that you could catch your fast moving cat on video! Your kitty must've gotten the fast gene from you!
ReplyDeleteDid you know there's a Bean doppelganger (sorta) out there that has become well known for his klepto skills? Check out this video.

Oh and sometimes Mommy can find sparkly balls at PetSmart and in multi-toy packs at Walmart.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, look at her go! I love that she actually caught one - crazy!

ReplyDeleteAhh Charlene, I am so happy to see you at your 2nd favorite activity. Kittens being the first of course!

ReplyDeleteCharlene should get with Sue's Frannie - they both have mad skillz!
ReplyDeleteAwwww ... we love the video.

ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen this news report (see link) The cat Dusty looks like male version of Bean...but with more sinister habits....

ReplyDeleteLove the air of nonchalance. After all, one has to be cool at all times. It's in the "Kittyly" Kitty Manual, page 1, paragraph 1, sentence 1.

ReplyDeleteWha-BAM! I couldn't help saying that in my head while I was watching. Charlene, your paw-eye coordination is impressive.
ReplyDeleteRetractable claws are a wonderful thing!

ReplyDeleteI watched a video. I think Bean loves to play with the sparkle balls. I find this cat is most amazing cat.
