Two weeks is up, and the kittens have just been granted limited access to the rest of the main floor of our house. They're still a little bit little to be running around all over the place, but they can have supervised visits to the living room and dining room. As they get bigger, they'll be granted more freedom.
Below is a short video of their first outing and their meeting with Bean.
You'll hear them peeping and squeaking as they make their way from the bedroom to the living room. They got lost along the way, so they cried for each other.
Bean was waiting for them when they were released. She's always very calm and non-threating when she's introduced to the new kittens and she always lets them come to her first.
Six kittens is a lot, and almost overwhelming for Bean. You'll see uses her paw to establish her boundaries. She's always good about letting the kittens know when they're getting to be a little too much for her.
At the end of the clip, Bean makes a dash out of the living room. Any guess where she's heading? Yep. Straight for the kitten food. She's so predictable.
I thought you all might like seeing how introductions usually work.
Enjoy!
The Queen on her throne waiting for her court to come pay homage!
ReplyDeleteThe one thing missing from your beautiful photos -- the mewing of little kittens. Squee!
I love how her first instinct is to lick their heads. And then bat them down. So funny!
ReplyDelete900 kinds of awesome. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE!!! I could eat them all up...including Miss Bean!! She's so patient with those babies! I want them all!
ReplyDeleteOh My! Adorableness to the Nth degree!
ReplyDeletethe squeaky mews of little kittens is music to my ears. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest thing I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteBean is such a good foster~bur~ball.
I would LOVE to adopt a kitty!
We live on Bainbridge!
Is this litter already spoken for?
LOVE the big white fluffy one!
So sweet and adorable~
xo
Bean is such a treasure. That little video did my heart good.
ReplyDeleteIts like she counted the kittens, looked around and gracefully walks off stage to get some kitten kibble...now that her birthday presents have been licked and pawed.
ReplyDeleteBean is her usual calm and cool self. I hear-
ReplyDelete"NO!, actually, i am NOT your mama. But i will be glad to talk to each of you, later , on a one on one basis as time permits", hmm, you smell ok..."
Carry on then...
such a good Beanie Auntie.
Oh. My. Gosh. My Fiona kitty and I watched, mesmerized (she's a natural mama kitty herself). Those tiny squeaky peeps just about did us both in! Another awesome litter that is full of win. (Love that The Bean hightailed it for the food, hehe)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS!!!!! OMC! I love the first kitty that approaches sees Bean and makes a U TURN! Then the white kitty goes STRAIGHT up to her! Bean is a good kitty!
ReplyDeleteAwww, I am nearly dead from the cuteness! Linus was the first one out, of course - but Freddie Jean, Kirby and Peter were the bravest! I felt bad for Maxine (?) getting the paws, but I can see how overwhelming it must have been for Charlene. Thanks so much for this, Laurie!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. My cat Zelda was sitting with me while I was watching it, and she started looking around for the kittens!
ReplyDeleteButterbean shows remarkable restraint not rushing the new kittens. I would scoop them up and probably scare them with a hug.
ReplyDeleteThat was super cool to see! What an interesting dynamic. and ridiculously cute of course.
ReplyDeleteCharlene's tail is so lush and spectacular, I nearly started to bat at my screen- I don't know how kittens can resist that thing.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love how Bean was perched like a Queen on her throne, and the kittens gradually went to her...their meowing was gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love how Charlene shoots a look at you, Laurie, before skulking off to the kitten food.
ReplyDeleteShe's so good with them!!
ReplyDeleteI love this sneak peek...thanks so much for letting us in on the fun!
ReplyDeletexxoo,
Adorable! I love when the one kitten gets pushed out of her space! She took to them pretty well, though! The introductions were cute...but as they kept coming, you could see her get a little bit anxious, as if to say "exactly how many kittens do you expect me to put up with? " =^..^=
ReplyDeletePeter's tail is just the cutest! It was sticking straight up but with a little curl at the top. And I love how Charlene gives them all kisses as greetings. What a happy little video.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to watch - especially loved those little kitty mews.
ReplyDeleteI love how she sits there and waits for the little ones to come up to her and doesn't scare them off. >^.^< <3
ReplyDeleteThat Bean is really something. What a great girl. I watched this film a few times in a row and loved every bit of it. So cute on everybody's part.
ReplyDeletethe video made my day! so cute. and bean - she's amazing! what a lovely cat! you can be so proud of her! :)
ReplyDeleteNo surprise that Linus is leading the charge out of the kitten room, or that the marmie boy got Charlene's first kiss. I adore Peter's question mark tail! Whenever Simba's tail forms that question mark, he is most-decidedly up to no good. I can't wait to hear all about Peter's antics soon.
ReplyDeletesomeday I would like to foster kittens, if I ever end up with a bigger house... but I see how important Charlene is to this process. I can't believe how easy this was - no hissing, she licked that little one RIGHT away. this was so wonderful and interesting to see!!
ReplyDelete"This milk bar is CLOSED!"
ReplyDeleteThe mewing. Oh the mewing. Tooooooo sweet.
ReplyDeleteQueen Butterbean, you're the best! A little affection, then firm with the rules. Well done, madam! Can't wait to see more interaction!
ReplyDeleteMy Harley's ears perked up when she heard the kittens squeaking. However, I'm not sure she would deal with kittens nearly as well as Ms. Bean does!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting this video. I've only watched it about a million times already. I had been wondering how the first meet and greets went and this certainly answered my question. I think that little orange boy cat must have delicious ears. First his sister, and now Bean licks and noms them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet introduction to Bean. It is amazing how quickly the kittens explore when the door is opened. They are such precious little souls.
ReplyDeleteCharlene never fails to amaze me. She has that perfect balance of allowing the kittens the freedom to approach her and the loving manner in which she teaches them acceptable limits.
ReplyDeleteI know she can be a Naughty Bean sometimes, but when it comes to interacting w/her young charges, she's the best Aunt Bean going. WTG, Charlene!!
Bean's the boss! Haha!
ReplyDeleteAwwww ... such a special video. It's so lovely to see the meeting, and to see how the fur-babies go around in a little squeaky pack. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove how Bean groomed the first two and then when they started getting too close gently reprimanded them. She is a fantastic kitty greeter!
ReplyDeleteCharlene is amazing with those babies.
ReplyDeleteAnd the little mews...aww just melts my heart.
I too loved the mews and squeaks. They are soooo cute! I agree with what Kathie said. Miss Bean is so good as a kitten greeter and establishing boundaries. Off to enjoy the kitten nom's, Miss Bean?
ReplyDeleteawww...I love the video..They are soooo cute with their tail up!Bean will be a busy bath-mommy..so she does deserve in return a little bit of kitten food!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so great, next best thing to being there. Bean is so great!!
