Turtle and Girth
A couple of weeks back, I shared a few pictures of Mr Thurston Easterbrook crawling through the belly of their turtle scratcher. If you missed it, you can see them HERE.
This week, things are getting a little tighter. He can still squeeze through it, but he did have a panicky moment while trying to pass through it last night.
I may just have to put the turtle away before his girth is too great to pass through.
I know he'll be crushed, but it's for his own safety. You understand, don't you Thurston?

Bigger kitties need bigger toys. Oh boy!
ReplyDeletethey grow to fast. my shlomo stopped being able to fit into the space under my laptop as it sits on my lap some time ago. it was a sad moment when i discovered this.
ReplyDeleteThurston m'dear boy. You are growing up...or is the turtle tunnel getting smaller?
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm
We're going to need a bigger turtle!
ReplyDeleteOh my. This made me laugh VERY loudly. Tuxes and turtles are two of my favorite things in this world. And could I picture panicky little Thurston thinking he was forever trapped in the cardboard turtle? Yes, yes I could.
ReplyDeleteOh, Thurston, I luv you! And I luv you in your turtle!!
ReplyDeleteYup: time for a bigger turtle! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, poor little Thurston! It was a sad day for Melly when she realized she could no longer climb me (it was not a sad day for me, however).
ReplyDeleteWe have a toy similar to this and just rolled up a towel and stuffed it inside so no kitties would get stuck. They got to keep Mr. Big and didn't get stuck :)
ReplyDeleteLove these photos. Hope their little operations went well. :)
ReplyDeleteAre these shots post op? If so, they really bounced back quickly!! Love 'em, thanks!!
ReplyDeletetoo funny - it is great to watch kittens (and even adults) suddenly realize they can't go where they used to! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the turtle!

Tishbite, my tortoiseshell kitty, used to crawl into the sleeves of my bathrobe while I was wearing it and nap. When she got older and bigger she would still try to hide up my sleeve. Of course it didn't work so well. :)
ReplyDeleteThis post made me think of The Dark Tower:
ReplyDelete"See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
On his shell he holds the earth.
His thought is slow but always kind;
He holds us all within his mind.
On his back all vows are made;
He sees the truth but mayn't aid.
He loves the land and loves the sea,
And even loves a child like me."
... and the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee! [apologies to Stephen King]
