We had a couple of little visitors this morning. Opal and her little brother, Ellis, came over to see the kittens. Opal also wanted to bring by her annual donation.
First, they met Geraldine and Phoebe who were bouncing around the living room. Both girls have had experience with little ones, and did very well with Ellis and Opal.
Ellis was as entertained by the kitten toys as he was by the kittens.
Next, we went into the guest room to meet the Batsels. Everyone came out to say hello, but Clifford was the most comfortable. Opal claimed "MOM, he wants to come home with me". I have to admit, he was quite happy in her arms.
We had a nice visit, and before Opal left, she gave the kittens her donation. She brought four quarters, four nickels, four dimes, and four pennies for the kitties.
That's from her very own piggy bank, too
.
Bless your generous little soul, Opal.
That's almost a squillon! Every little bit helps.
ReplyDeleteWe <3 Opal! And Ellis too. But Opal for her dollar and sixty four cents. How.cute.is.that?
ReplyDeleteOpal has grown so much over the past year. She will some day make a wonderful kitty mom!
ReplyDeleteI agree Angie B. She has grown - what a sweet and beautiful soul. Ellis is a doll too.
ReplyDeleteClifford sure looks comfy!
I'm starting a petition to have the next little girl kitten named "Opal". Who's with me? (I know, I know, I should have won that auction!)
ReplyDeleteBless you, Opal! You are an inspiration to us all.
ReplyDeleteOpal is soooo adorable and generous. Clifford did look quite happy with her.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see more of Miss G and Phoebe too.
Opal, you make my eyes leak. I can only strive to be as generous a person as you are.
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully precious.
I love Opal! I think she would make an excellent kitten mom for Clifford--they look so perfect together.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering when Opal might be paying a visit this year. What a sweet little girl, who is ever so generous. And her little brother Ellis, looks very comfortable with the kitties for being so young. <3 you, Opal, for your kind spirit and beautiful soul.
ReplyDeleteYay Opal!
ReplyDelete@Patti - if you're lucky you might win the raffle for the naming rights to a future kitten.
Opal and Ellis have both grown so much! What fun to have them as part of the campaign again this year!! I also echo the call to have a kitty named for Opal! What a treat that would be!!
ReplyDeleteLuke 21:1-4 The Widow’s Offering
ReplyDeleteAs Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Last year, as the fundraiser was coming to a close, beautiful, gentle, generous Opal came by your lovely home to make her donation...and I immediately thought of this story.
The circumstances are not the same, and so many people have given so generously...
But there is just something so sweet and poinant about a young lady, reaching for her piggy bank, and giving so generously from the little amount that she has.
I am so proud of Opal...
And IBKC...
So much good has been done to help those who simply cannot help themselves without our generous love and support!
Ellis is turning into such a big boy!
ReplyDeleteAnd Ellis would be a great kitten name, too....
I think i was looking forward to seeing Opal this year, more than anything else. Such a generous soul. And yes, Clifford looked very comfy in her arms.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of how wonderfully generous young Opal is! And how gentle her brother Ellis is with the kittens.
ReplyDeleteTheir parents are amazing, too.
Geraldine & Phoebe have grown, eh?
Little Clifford in Opal's arms....sigh!!!
A gift from the heart is always worth at least a squillion or three right?
ReplyDeleteHi all, Sheldon and Pearly pdate photos on the IBKC alumni flicker gruop YEY!!!!
ReplyDeleteOpal is such a sweetie. I kind of think of her as an unofficial Itty Bitty and it looks like Clifford is quite taken with her. Could be kittie love at first sight. So nice to meet Ellis as well. He seems like a very thoughtful young man.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anon for the alumni update alert.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patti and Laura that Opal and Ellis are the embodiment of sweetness and I'd love to have some kittens named after them :)
I love being able to see Geraldine and Phoebe -- and now Pearla and Sheldon on the IKBC alumni page. We just need some Marla updates and photos and I'll be content. I miss her! I hope she's not missing kitty companionship.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Marla's mom could adopt a Batsel to keep Marla company...
ReplyDeleteOne of these days, you need to name one of the girl kittens Opal!
ReplyDeleteAnd I see now that I'm not the first to suggest this!
ReplyDeleteTwo things.
ReplyDelete1. I agree with the above commenter. Name an upcoming girl kitty Opal. And an Ellis, too. They would be so thrilled.
2. Can you start a blog about Opal and Ellis? Or tell their mom to start one?
I've been wondering, how did Opal's coffee date with dad for Father's Day go?
