OH! The Places They'll Go!

 DSC_0208

The first couple of days our new little litter was hanging out in my craft room.  I tried to keep everything off the floor and out of the kittens' reach, but with this litter, everything is within their reach.

The little girl is a percher, and never likes to nap at ground-level.   I went to check on the kittens the other day,  and could only find the three boys.   I looked for her  in the usual spots - on top of boxes and storage bins - but I just couldn't find her ANYWHERE.

Well, I just wasn't looking high enough.  There she was, four feet off the ground and perched on top of a stack of crepe paper stash.

I have absolutely no idea how she got up there.

Since this episode, they have all been relocated to the guest bedroom.   And if that doesn't work, I'll need a padded cell.   For me.

We've got a full day ahead.   We'll be seeing some more art up on the auction.  Also, our surname naming right auction is over,  I'll let you know what their last  name is shortly, and we'll start some more naming rights auctions for  the first names!

Tea with the Bean is up on the auction now and so are Craig's beautiful watercolor paintings of Charlene. Be sure to check those out!

THIS IS OUR LAST WEEK OF FUNDRAISING!!!  So, If you're planning on making a donation, but haven't done so yet, now would be a very good time!!   We'll be wrapping everything up on Saturday, so please don't delay!

Please pay a visit to our FUNdraising page to make a tax-deductible contribution.  Thank you!

  1. I definitely didn't win the auction, but if I were naming this brood, my money would be on the Derringdos.

Adorable little acrobats. Do you know the circumstances by which they came to be at the Humane Society?

  2. Oh she is adorable! I can't wait to follow their adventures. I'd also love to know more about how they came to be at the Humane Society. Is it just me or are these kitties a little bigger/older than some of the other litters?

  3. When we first got our little Sophie I was trying to sit back and just let her discover things on her own. After a few minutes I went to see what she was up to and couldn't find her anywhere. We looked every single place we could think of, and I really started to panic. Then for some reason I thought to look behind the microwave...and there she was. She was so incredibly tiny, I still have no idea how she got back there. And wonder why she's never gone back since...

  4. Given their love of acrobatics, I think I'd call them the (Flying) Wallendas! :)

  5. I agree -- the Wallendas would be a hilarious name for them!

  6. I love the "What?? Something wrong?" look she's giving you.

  7. I agree with ShortWoman - this little cutie is all "Wut?" She's not worried, at all!

Looking forward to more adventures with these sweeties, and looking forward to finding out their surname and first names!

  9. she's a cat. cat's can do magical things with their bodies sometimes. isn't that just wonderful? personally, i think it is :) but, being a person who lives with 4 cats, i am biased about their magic.

    :)

  10. I think she looks very satisfied with herself :)

Does she boss her brothers around?

  11. No doubt - she levitated!
These little kitties are an amazing litter. Be prepared, Laurie! There be magic afoot...er...apaw!

  12. Perhaps the little miss was simply checking out the itty bitty accommodations beside her wondering if any of these houses would resemble her forever home.

  13. She looks quite proud of herself. :-)

  14. Having had a cat who could leap from the floor to the top of the fridge with seemingly no effort at all, it wouldn't surprise me if Little Miss here just took a big jump! So what if the stack of boxes is ten times her height? She's just getting in practice for the fridge in her future! :) Such a cutie-pie -- I can't wait to find out her name!

  15. Also, by the way, I love the series of photos showing just how high up she is! From a photo showing 3 boxes in the stack to the final shot with at least a dozen, it's just perfect! Your photography skills truly are out of this world, Laurie; you have a real gift.

  16. Too funny....mom had this problem the other night - walked into the bathroom and there were NO kittens. Someone had gotten the cabinet door open and there were 2 kittens asleep in each drawer. MOL

  17. She floated up on her floof. My kitty Maggie also thinks the floor is for silly bipeds.

  18. My old roommate had a cat that could leap from the floor to the top shelf of my closet, which had to be at least 6 or 7 feet off the ground. I swear that cat's a ninja. Perhaps this little kitten is following a similar path in life.

  19. Random Felines, my last litter used to climb into my dresser drawers from the BACK of the dresser, so I would have no idea they were in there until I opened a drawer to get a shirt!

  20. I once had a cat that, on her first day with us, managed to get stuck inside the couch and then the stove. It was difficult getting her out both times, but it was managed without damages to household items or the cat. I, however, was a nervous wreck both times. I wanted my new kitty.

  21. Webbthistle got my first thought, darnit!

I love this sweeties head tilt!

  22. And the whole time you're looking for the kitten, you feel like you have a pair of little kitteh eyes following you.. Like the time my Smudgie got up on the ledge over the closet. Finally looked up to see her looking back at me, and I'd swear she was laughing. Took me a while to figure out how she got up there too: Floor, to bed, to top of bed post, to valance over the patio door, to the ledge. Wasn't so bad until she'd do it at night, and would bypass the bedpost, and make the leap from valance to Mom's bladder.. :)
