Good morning, everyone!! We had a busy weekend around here! I spent most of it packing up all those magnet orders! Charlene enjoyed the watching the activity. She also enjoyed all the cardboard boxes.
Thanks to all who purchased a set! Charlene's magnet was our big seller, and we sold out yesterday morning. She's such a popular girl! I've got an order in for more, so we should see those in about a week or so.
So, kittens. Where are those kittens?* Really, it must be any day now. Late February and early March is when they usually start trickling in again, so I don't think should be too much longer of wait.
When they arrive, we are ready for them. Their room is all set up - blankets and toys are all in place, bowls and litter box are waiting to be filled.
I've been dreaming about the day the next litter will arrive. I wonder what they'll look like. I wonder how many there will be? And how tiny? If you could dream up your perfect litter what would it be?
*It's a very good thing when there are no kittens in need of fostering.
It's just a matter of time. We'll see them. Now, as for the litter itself:
ReplyDeleteWhat They'll Look Like: CUTE.
How Many of Them: Enough to get into trouble.
Boys vs. Girls: I think lots of boykitties this time.
My Ideal Litter: Happy and healthy and snuggly. Floofy is a bonus.
Such a good thing! I do however miss the cute, little kittens. My kitten is just about out of the kitten stage, so I can't wait to see some new babies here soon!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm doing a celebratory happy dance that there are no kitties in need around Miss Bean (even though there are so many in other places...), but to be perfectly honest I also can't wait to see those babies when they arrive! :D
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I think every litter you've had is the perfect litter - it's hard to say. But if pressed, I do love litters with grey tabbies and/or torties, but that's probably because my babies are a tortie and a grey tabby!
ReplyDeleteBecause I've been following the IBKC and Pitter Pats for so long I now know that every litter is perfect in its unique way.
ReplyDeleteAlso, because there are 7 kitties in my immediate family, I know which of these 7 I'd like to have a whole litter of, but I would never tell which ones I'd put at the bottom of the list.
Healthy purry soft kittens! I'd wish for black kittens with a mix of tuxes. All darling with a dash of naughty in them. Eager to snuggle in a puddle of downy kitten floof. Makes me smile just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are ready (I bet Charlene loves that too!) and I am thrilled that there are still no kittens...and it did give us a chance to see some IBKC (AND Pitter Patter) updates - BUT I am pleased that the dedicated foster homes for kittens will be there for the kittens who need them.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream about tabby kittens the other night. Maybe it was a sign.
ReplyDeletea litter of curious little tabby girls with perfectly striped tails and belly spots. But that's only preferred a tiny tiny smidgin above other litter combinations.
ReplyDeleteOrange tabbies, with white toes.
ReplyDeleteThe kittens are just starting to trickle in down here in Portland! Any day now.
ReplyDeleteA family of floofy polydactyls like the Treadwells! Or really....just any kitties, they are all so incredibly special. Glad there are none to be had right now. I worry about this cold weather. :(
ReplyDeleteAny size, any colour, any amount of whiskers and purrs ~ we'll love them whatever! Fact! xx
ReplyDeleteI'd like a half dozen miniBeans and another half dozen Pearlas. Oh, and some torties with white bellies and mittens. Lots of floof.
ReplyDeleteBut any kitties at all would be loverly.
we love them all....and we understand - while we would love to SKIP kitten season, we do love fostering them....
ReplyDeleteMy perfect litter is one that already has people ready to adopt them when the kittens are ready. Not only would the adopters be perfect but they would live close by so I can see them because I would worry too much about them otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for the dark kittens with chubby cheeks a la Norman Ashby
ReplyDeleteMy perfect litter? Kittens, any kittens! I don't care, I love them all, just like Charlene. And yes, it's a good thing there are no kittens to foster...but selfishly, I still want some to come in so Charlene will be able to return to teaching them how to be happy, healthy cats!
ReplyDeleteFloofy. Tabbies with toe floof. Orange & white babies. At least one with a love affair with Beanie. And lots and lots and lots of pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy beautiful Tootsie is a polydactyl and I think her color is usually described as diluted calico but she has tabby bracelets on her arms and rings on her tail. I'd like to see a litter with an assortment with at least one Tootsie lookalike...but I think it unlikely. She's one of a kind!
ReplyDeleteAlso still holding out for the coffee table book, calendar, coffee mugs, pee-chees, school binders, and mouse pads featuring the IBKC...just sayin'...*G* I'm actually serious, though... :)
ReplyDeleteI woud love to do more products, but it's tricky because with every new thing, it first requires a big investment on my end. More IBKC products will come, it's just going to be a gradual process.
DeleteDear Laurie:
DeleteI LOVE your photography. If you ever decide to do a book, I'll be one of your first customers. I can't wait until my orange marmalade kitty magnets get here!
Renee
I'm a sucker for calicos. So, teeny calicos and torties and also tabby boys of various descriptions...
ReplyDeleteThat's for sure. Unfortunately there will be far too many soon. I would like all white, medium hair with 2 coloured eyes, please.:)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to be happy that there are no kittens that need fostering, but... KITTENS!! I think I like the variety pack litters the best. Or a whole litter of little Spooner lookalikes.
ReplyDeleteAny litter would be perfectly adorable! But I think I also love the variety packs best - like the Medleys and the Dearborns!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Squeee, the Furman Five! They were one of my favorite little families.
We are bunny sitting. A two year old chocolate lop, named Max. He arrived last night and both Geraldine and Phoebe are fascinated! They sit up in their kitty condo and just stare at him in his wire trailer. He will be with us for nine days and I already know that they are going to miss him.
ReplyDeleteOh! Have you got any pics to share? (Cause that would be awesome!) :D
DeleteOh I love hearing about Geraldine and Phoebe -- such darling kitty-cats!
DeleteI am trying to get some pictures, but the bunny stays in his cage and the kitties are always moving before I can take a pic. Phoebe just loves sitting in her condo on the top of the Mondo scratching post looking down on Max. Geraldine is also so interested that she actually did not notice that her dinner was ready! A first!
Deletemy dream perfect litter would stay a dream - cause there would be no homeless kitties - but in the dream - Mama would have had a little fun ya know so there would be a lovely mix - a couple floofy long hairs and 3 short hair - 3 boys, 2 girls - a couple tabbies (one orange and white and one black and white), a tortie, a silver gray one and a tuxie.
ReplyDeleteAnd since there are still litters of kittens that wind up at shelters I am so very, very grateful they have your home and Bean's tutelage to prepare them for a wonderful life full of joy and love. Till they all have a home. :)
And woot woot - got my email that my magnets are on the way.
My dream litter? It would include a pair of floofies who would grow up as gorgeous as Charlene; a couple of orange babies; and perhaps some Siamese mixes to provide my Blueyed fix :)
ReplyDeleteOur shelter got the first litter in this weekend: they are adorable! 5 boys and only one girl: four brown tabbies, a black and a dark smoke.
torties, torties, torties!
ReplyDeleteI like it when there is a mix of types for everyone - floofy, short-haired, white, tabby, tortie, ginger, etc. I suppose that's why the Dearborns and the Medleys were two of my favorite litters.
ReplyDeleteThen again, it is kind of cute when you get "variations on a theme," like the black jellybean (my favorite BTW) Easterbrooks, or the black, grey, and white patterned LaBath ladies... sigh, I don't know what the perfect litter is. I guess I'm going to go with purry, healthy, happy, and adopted by loving families who send frequent updates to Laurie!! I absolutely adore the alumni updates.
ReplyDeleteCute little tuxies with big white pawses!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's great in the broader scheme that there are no kittens needing home at the moment. Of course, the most important things are for them to be healthy and have a good home awaiting them, but if I could choose, I'd love a mixed litter like the Dearbourns. Mine would include lots of floofy long hairs--definitely at least one long haired tortie (like my Peeps), and one medium haired tortie, a blue eyed Siamese mix long hair like the delicious Bean, a long haired big ginger boy, a sleek beautiful blue like my little boy, a floofy goofy Blue, a sleek brown with big amber eyes and a long haired patch tabby, a classic whorled brown tabby with big cheeks (like a Scottish fold's face) and a long haired black kitty with big amber eyes. But I love them all regardless of colour, shape and size.
ReplyDeleteMy perfect litter would have lots of variety and lots of floof, with at least a couple of floofy calicos/torties/torbies. The Furmans and Dearborns are my favourite litters, especially Edith and Geraldine.
