A Thank You and A Thunderous Herd
First, I want to start of by saying thanks to all of you for the many kind comments left on our 2000th post. You say such sweet things. I am happy to know that this blog can be a bright spot in your day. You all do the same for me. THANK YOU. You truly are the best. Truly.
Now on to kitten business.
Remember when these kittens first moved in and I said that they were short-timers? Well. It's almost time. Three out of five of our little Winklers are off getting snipped today. The other two will be going in next week. So, our days our numbered with this precious set.
But they're not gone yet. They'll be trickling out the door over the next 12 days, so let's enjoy these sweet Tabbies and spend some time getting to know them better.
Just a couple days ago they got the full run of the house and got to meet Charlene. I've got some clips of their first meeting which I'll share with you tomorrow. Movies take so much more time than photos, so in the interest of getting a post up sooner rather than later today, it will have to wait.
They Winklers were SO ready to get out of quarantine. The last couple of days, it was virtually impossible to get through the door to their room without someone escaping. Once they had a taste of the outside world, they needed to see more. I tried to block them with a dust pan as I passed through the door, but they just jumped over it and through my arms. They are small, smart and fast.
Now that they are out and about, they are absolutely insane. I know there are only five of them, but if feels like fifty. The tiny but thunderous herd runs the length of the house over and over again. It's fun to be so free!
Of course they still have their quiet moments too -they do tire eventually. Even Flip, pictured above, who might just be the rowdiest one in the batch, eventually settles down.

Flip is so flippin' CUTE! Deceptively cute and innocent looking.
ReplyDelete2 weeks equals a LOT of pent up kitten energy!
That's just about the sweetest face I have ever seen. purrs
ReplyDelete"I know there are only five of them..." Only five!! Spoken like a true kitten wrangler. We've only ever gotten two kittens at a time, and have had our hands full keeping them in the nursery (aka the guest bathroom).
ReplyDeleteRecalling those leaping photos, and Flip's little froggy legs, I'm not at all surprised you've had breakouts. They must've been practicing their Alley-Oop moves!
What a sweet little face! He's just begging for a squeeze. :)
ReplyDeleteI love Flip.
ReplyDeleteAwe...Flip is such a sweetie-pie. Looking forward to the Thunderous Herd videos...it only takes 2 kittens to create that "herd of wild elephants" sound, in my experience...I can't imagine five!
ReplyDelete2 of my 3 kitties are tabbies and I tell you they are a rowdy lot. :p
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more pics and videos of these cuties.
(post) 2001: A Thundering Tabby Odyssey
ReplyDeleteOh, perfect!
DeleteI can only imagine the tiny herd thundering back and forth -- don't old wood floors sound wonderful under kitty feet? Emily only weighs 6 pounds, but when I'm in the basement and she jumps on the wood floor over my head, it sounds like an elephant just landed. It sounds like the Winklers are definitely making the most of their freedom!
ReplyDeleteSame with Louie. He's only 7 pounds and he makes so much more noise than my parents' 15lb-3' long cat! Maybe the tiny ones do it on purpose? Haha
DeleteIs Flip really that buffy-sandy color under his tabby stripes? He is astoundingly gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Flip looks so grown up already! Glad to know he's still a little devil anyway!
ReplyDeleteTotally flipped for Flip! Snorgle them all and tell them the good times are just beginning. Furrever families are coming.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, hope their forever homes are wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your experiences here on your blog.
ReplyDeleteAll the babies in this litter are just adorable! I have seven cats and they are definitely a thundering herd! They have their "zoom time" after they eat and it gets pretty loud. BTW, how do all the kittens get their "last names"?
ReplyDeleteLaurie, step on me if this is inappropriate, but ... anybody in the DelMarVa area have room for another cat? Fairfax County is out of space and is euthanizing cats as they arrive. They need help.
ReplyDeleteMore info.
I'm looking at my finances and my current feline situation and deciding whether I can take in another cat. If I can, I will.
OMG! So cute!
ReplyDelete"How can you keep them down on the farm once they've seen Paree?" ;) My three kittens are determined to climb over every barrier I erect now that they've had the run of the upstairs. If I had 5, I'd just barricade myself in the bedroom and let them have the rest of the house!
ReplyDeleteAdorable - I wish my grumpy old boy could tolerate fostering! I love seeing all of your pictures!!
