Well, they were adorable kittens, so it's no surprise they grew up to be beautiful cats! Nigel and Mimsey are a great pair - and as close as close can be.
Mimsey is the more outgoing of the two, but Nigel is not shy by any means. She loves attention and is especially fond of having her belly rubbed. Nigel prefers having his hindquarters scratched.
Nigel is a fantastic athlete and can easily jump up on any table or counter in the house (you naughty kitten). I'll have to try to catch a little video footage of him leaping after his feather wand. It's really quite impressive.
Mimsey is a little less interested in playing, but does enjoy fishing Sparkle Balls out from beneath the couch cushions. They do like to chase each other and wrestle.
Nigel's a coat is long and think and his tail is truly spectacular. His pink nose is perfection. Mimsey's coat is much shorter, but equally dense. Her markings are the best. She's got cute polka-dots on her backside and that Tabby eyepatch of hers is adorable.
Their favorite hobby is bird watching. My folks have an enclosed porch with lots of windows. Just ten feet or so away from the house, they have a variety of bird feeders which attract all sorts of birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. Nigel and Mimsey LOVE to camp out by the sliding glass door and watch the show. Their swishing tails are synchronized and they both chirp at the birds. There's a little chipmunk that has been camping out in a drain spout just a few feet from the door. He's been keeping their attention this morning.
It's clear they're happy here. They're living the good life and my folks adore them. They get lots of love and attention and plenty of toys. It's fun watching the cats and these first-time cat owners.

Those babies! They are so big! And Nigel got the fluffy toes from Charlene! I can't stop using exclamation points! I'm so happy! They are gorgeous! :DDDD
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Sounds like they have a perfect life :)
ReplyDeleteI love Frost updates, they were such sweeties as babies and have grown up into beautiful cats.
Give them a cuddle for us :)
They really & truly have grown up into lovely cats. But, of course! purrs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, both of them. Delighted to hear they're so happy, but what do you expect, given their primo family!
ReplyDeleteIs it me or are they getting a little on the plump side? Obviously it's harder to tell with Nigel being the big ball of floof that he is, but ...
ReplyDeleteNope. I'm going to second that. It could be the camera angle...but even if they are, they're young and there is plenty of time to correct that. Obviously they're well loved.
DeleteVery much so. They're happy and well-loved, just getting a little on the plump side :D
DeleteAuntie Bean needs to teach Nigel to say "I'm not fat, I'm floofy!"
DeleteOh Nigel and that inter-digital toe floof just barely peeking out in the first picture... I bet it's even more impressive from the bottom side.
ReplyDeleteWhat beauties they have turned into, I'm so happy that they are thriving and happy, and it seems like their owners are happy to have them as well!!
Beautiful big kitties, all grown up from the beautiful little kitties they once were!
ReplyDeleteThey look very, ahem, "well-fed."
ReplyDeleteYay! Happy kitties! I'm always sad to see the kittens go, but updates like this make it all worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to a few more Nigel and Mimsey posts and getting to know these sweethearts as grown-ups.
Hi there !
ReplyDeleteYou are very beutiful both of you !
Own!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I am a relative newcomer here (just three or four itty bit families) I did not know Nigel and Mimsy as babies. My goodness though, these are impressively beautiful cats! I love the image of them watching the squirrels, birds and chipmunks with synchronized tail switching. These two look very well-loved and definitely well-fed.
ReplyDeleteIf you click on their names to the right, you can review their IBKC tenure.
DeleteThey were delightful as kittens and gorgeous, well loved and uber contented cats!
thanks KBJ!
DeleteAlways glad to share the 'early days' of any IBKC alumni!
DeleteThey're obviously well-fed, too. ;D They're gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful cats they've grown up to be! And they're obviously not starved. :)
ReplyDeleteDid they recognize you at all, Laurie? Or were they too busy getting spoiled by the Cat Whisperer(s)?
I'm so happy that they've grown up to be such beautiful cats!
ReplyDeleteWhen you go on these trips, do you ever take Charlene with you?

ReplyDeleteThank you! I have always said that dieting could kill ya. (Of course I am not a cat, but I will use any excuse).
DeleteThe Frosts look like they are so spoiled, and they know it.
Yes, it really can. A lesson for both people and cats alike!
DeleteHi Laurie, I just finished looking through all the old posts about Nigel and Mimsey. What a great story about their trip to Iowa! How exciting for your parents, you mom is such a sweetie, with tears at the airport. Unfortunately there were very few photos; is there anyway you could repost the photos of when you introduced everyone to Nigel and Mimsey? I would love to see what they looked like on that October day? Just wondering.
ReplyDeleteDid you try Laurie's Flickr Feed? I noticed the links seem to be broken but the pix should still be on that site. And they were beautiful kittens! Who turned into beautiful cats!
DeletePhotos mysteriously disappeared from flickr and i would have to dig through my external hard drives to find them and then try to match them to the right posts. It's not an easy fix.
DeleteOkay, Laurie, thanks anyway. That would be way too much work.
DeleteOh, and to think you had to make sure Nigel gained weight for the trip....sheesh, he hasn't stopped, lol.
ReplyDeleteThey are really adorable kittens. They also looks healthy and smart. I'm glad those have a good life we can see them in their face.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kittens grew into gorgeous cats!
ReplyDeleteThey sure grew up into some pretty cats!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful cats, people! How much they weigh and what they eat is none of our darn beeswax. Let's just admire them and remember the point of this blog is to celebrate the awesomeness of cats and to be a positive community!
ReplyDelete(stepping off soapbox now)
Thanks, Sarah for jumping on your soapbox and posting this! I agree, they are beautiful cats and are clearly happy and being very well taken care of by Laurie's parents.
DeleteThank you for saying that, Sarah.
DeleteYou're absolutely right, Sarah. Both cats are absolutely adorable with healthy glossy coats and bright eyes. My apologies to Laurie and her parents if I went too far on food recommendations. I just always feel the need to warn people against putting their cats on strict diets because I saw what can happen with my friend's cats when they went into liver failure -- it was very scary.
DeleteThank you, Sara, for addressing the concern-trolling in these comments. I don't even know what people are talking about because Mims and Nigel are not even chubby. And I say this as the owner of a 16-year-old kitten who rarely breaks 6 lbs. M n' N are gorgeous, healthy, happy kit-cats, it is very clear.
DeleteWhoa, not so itty-bitty anymore. Though it looks like they have settled in as Lord and Lady of the Manor. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful! And you take such great photos. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThose cats are so clean! Are they bathed? ;)
ReplyDeleteMy [also tubby tabby] cat spends most of her time on the screened-in porch in full view of the bird feeder. She loves it; I love that she loves it. I'm glad Nigel and Mimsey have such a lovely quality of life. Clearly well loved kitties!
You tell them, Sarah in T Town! I agree wholeheartedly! All I see are two happy babies in a happy, loving home! And that's all that matters!
ReplyDeletePatti in KY
Ooooh! Chubby kitties are the best for snuggling! They are absolutely adorable and obviously loved. They were such cute kittens, I'm so glad they found their forever home with your parents.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah in T town! Yes, let's celebrate two fabulous kitties who found the purrfect forever home thanks to all the hard work of Laurie, Craig and Bean -- and the Kitten Whisperer! Great work everyone! Mimsey and Nigel are adorable and loved and clearly have one of the best bird-watching situations EVAR!! Yay for the IBKC!!
ReplyDeleteVery fluffy and rather well fed by the looks of them! XD
ReplyDeleteIt's so interesting how they looked so similar (to me) as kittens but now they look completely different as cats! Nigel's long hair is so gorgeous. They sound like real sweeties.
ReplyDeleteI know your folks love them, Laurie, but could you mention that they are overfeeding their babies?
ReplyDeleteSince Nigel and Mimsy are still young, it's going to be easier for them to slim down sooner rather than later.
I know I'm not minding my own business, but it's because I know overweight cats don't have as good a life as normal weight cats.
Thanks for letting me say my piece!
They look perfectly healthy to me.
DeleteWow Doodle Bean, really? In my experience when someone says "I know I'm not minding my own business", they AREN'T and they should rethink saying anything at all.
DeleteCan you imagine how hurtful many of these comments have been to Laurie's parents? They love these cats and clearly take very good care of them.
I'll be amazed if we see any more Frost updates at all and I wouldn't blame them at all.
-Mary Louise
Yay for Frost updates! Nigel and Mimsey are precious little tykes, and Sharon and Dave are GREAT parents - to their kitty kids and their human ones, too. They're also *wonderful* people, and I'm so grateful they graciously allowed this update, and that Sharon sends her lovely written updates and photos from time to time.
ReplyDeleteSo please, keep your opinions about the weight of the Frosts to yourselves and confine your comments to their adorableness.
thank you for saying that Lynda, I couldn't agree more. let's celebrate the wonderfulness of the whole IBKC. altho confining my comments to the Frost's adorableness might hard given the word limits of this comments field :) Mimsey and Nigel are sooooo adorable!!!
Deletewhat a gorgeous duo!!! they've grown into such stunning cats...and to people commenting on their weight -- all we are seeing is pictures and have no real perspective on their weights. One of my kitties always looks huge in pictures but in real life, she's totally average. In any case, as long as kitties are happy and healthy (which they clearly are!) who cares what they weigh! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, you know how they say the camera adds ten pounds. Imagine that on a kitty ;-)
DeleteI'm appalled at the inappropriateness of people on this thread. Thank goodness for the few sane people telling others to mind their own business.
ReplyDeleteI bet Sharon and Dave were so excited to share their cats again with everyone. To show off their pride and joy to the whole community. If I was them, I'd never share pictures again.
It's stunning to me when adults can't grasp how their words can hurt others. Imagine if someone said something critical or negative about your babies or pride and joy. You'd be mortified.
Use your heads, people. Laurie knows more about cats than almost all of us. If there's any information they need to have, Laurie will give it to them.
Sharon and Dave, please don't deprive us of sharing your kitties with us! They are so gorgeous and sweet. I would be so sad if you let a few comments make you feel bad about the Frosts. Please keep in mind that people have often left messages on Maru's videos saying he was overweight because he is big-boned boy and has what I call a "chubbalicious" face but Maru is one of the cutest kitties in the universe! Frost and Mimsey are utterly gorgeous and they are so loved by all of us who frequent this site.
Deletewhat GORGEOUS cats they've grown into! thank you so very much, laurie's folks, for sharing pictures of your precious twosome! <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeletecarys
What beautiful kitties the Frosts have become!! What a joy to see them again!! Thank you so much for the update. So beautiful to see Laurie's "siblings" enjoying a wonderful life. I can't get over what absolutely gorgeous cats those two little babies have become!! Love to Laurie's mom and dad for giving them a blissful home and lots of love. Please keep these updates coming in years to come!!
ReplyDeleteOh what is wrong with people. If these two babies were shaved their fur would weigh more than they do!! They were always wonderfully, beautifully fluffy and always will be. Look back at their kitten photos if you don't believe us.
