It's true. His new mama, Laura, came and picked up our sweet little dumpling this weekend. He's doing GREAT in his new home. His new big brother, Tiberius, a three year old Bengal mix, is thrilled that he moved in. He's already taken to grooming Leonard and they're having a blast playing together. It's always nice when they bond so quickly.
Leonard will remain "Leonard".
Tiberius was born around the birthdays of Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, so his name is a Star Trek reference. Tiberius is the "T" in James T Kirk, Shatner's character. It seems there are many Sci-Fi fans hanging out at the IBKC, so I probably didn't need to explain the reference, but for those not in the know, there you go. So, Leonard is the perfect name for a companion cat to Tiberius. And Leonard's ears are pointy, kind of like Spock's.
We'll all miss the little fellow, but take comfort in knowing he's so happy in his new place.
Thank you, Laura, for adopting our little fellow! And thanks to Tiberius for being so welcoming! We know our boy is in great hands.
Please please please send update photos of Tiberius and Leonard together.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE the update photos!!
Thank you- Nic
Thank you Laurie! I love him ever so much, so does Tiberius. They will both "live long and prosper." :)Laura
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura for taking sweet little Leonard! And I <3 the name, Tiberius!
DeleteAnd thank you, Laurie for being such a good foster mom - and Beanie, too!
Thank you! It is fitting for him. I am sure there will be future posts where you can see him in all his glory. :) He and Leonard are absolutely adorable together! - Laura
DeleteOh I'm so happy to hear he will have a playmate and big brother and that they are all getting along so well.
ReplyDeleteEveryone, please look at the Alumni pics to see how Zoubi (formerly Zelda Lamm) is getting along with her new sister!! Adorable!
Who is that saying goodbye to Leonard in the final two pictures?
She looks very happy and like she's got a good friend/sister. :)
DeleteIt's Bibi.
DeleteSo, maybe I'm blind, but where would I find the Alumni pictures? Would love to see Zelda Lamm!
Delete@Gretchen...In the right hand column, just above the box that says "Big Kitties Need Homes Too" you'll find a link that says "Itty Bitty Kitty Committee Alumni Group." Just click on that and you'll be there.
DeleteThanks! I had no idea that was there. Great... one more site for me to go to and look at pictures of cats! :)
DeleteWhen I heard the name Leonard, I thought of the character from The Big Bang Theory... don't know what that says about me. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too!! And it still seemed appropriate!
DeleteOnce I learned of the Star Trek link, I thought Leonard was staying Leonard because of Dr McCoy on the original ST...but it has a dual connection to Leonard Nimoy. How awesome!
DeleteIt sounds like such a lovely welcome home, that I can't feel sad.
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura and Tiberious, and please do keep us updated.
Live long and prosper, Leonard!
ReplyDeleteAND, Dr. McCoy's first name is Leonard. That's who I first thought of :D
ReplyDeleteDitto!
DeleteOh, my, could a more perfect home have been found for Leonard? Have a wonderful life with your new big brother, little cutie -- I know you'll both live long and prosper indeed!
ReplyDeleteSo very alert....
ReplyDeleteWho is it saying g'bye to Leonard in his carrier?
It's Bibi.
DeleteAwww... she did seem quite taken with her big brother. That's so sweet.
DeleteThis whole story makes my nerdy heart and my crazy kitty lady heart so happy! I'm so glad to see another sweet baby go to an amazing home.
ReplyDeletei have visions of leonard reminding his big brother at every opportunity that "i'm a kitten, not a doctor!"
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me SO MUCH of my Guido :D The same white face and chest, wide-eyed and head-tilted look of "what's going oooonnnnn". If he's got half of Guido's personality, he's gonna be a handful and the best cat EVER!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that Leonard and Tiberius are fast friends already! I love happy beginnings.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful life, Leonard! So glad to hear Tiberius took a liking to you promptly. It's a lot better than all that hissy growling stuff :)
ReplyDeleteLaura, Tiberius and Leonard - how perfect is that? Live long and prosper...and please send updates!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Leonard! I hope we get to see some pics of him and T. He looks very proud to be wearing the gold medal.
ReplyDelete"Dang it Jim, I'm a kitten not a can opener."
