In first place, by a landslide, is Marguerite! How kind of you to make me the subject. I'm blushing.
Here's her award-winning entry.
Come, children, I’ll tell you a story
Of a magical hero named Laurie
She saves kittens’ lives
by the threes, fours and fives
without ever accepting the glory
It is told throughout the whole land
how they thrive with a touch of her hand
(Or she brings in Charlene,
the Esteemed Butterbean,
and those kitties will grow on command!)
So let’s all raise a glass of Bourdeaux
To the incredible Laurie Cinotto!
I have many more raves
For the kittens she saves,
I think I have run out of rhymes, though.
And in second place, this charming piece by Wendy
There once was a kitty so wise,
A nanny in soft fur disguise.
A paw she would lend ,
For sweet kittens to tend,
And watch with her pretty crossed eyes.
Third prize goes to Lynn for her wonderful limerick.
In a little red basket they sit
Warm and cozy they certainly get
Little kittens will stuff
Every ounce of their fluff
It’s a wonder that everyone fits
Nice work, everyone. Thank's to all who submitted, and everyone who voted too.
To our winners, I will be contacting you shortly, and we'll work out the arrangements for your prizes.
That was fun, wasn't it? We'll have to do it again!
Bravo to all!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners (and all the others) for their wonderful limericks!
ReplyDeleteCats and poetry: two of my favorite things! The fact that it's IBKC cats and rhyming poetry makes it even better. :)
ReplyDeleteGolly Gumdrops!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! Am I a sore loser if I point out that the winning poem has 3 stanzas? Why yes, I am!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great contest and lots of fun -- Congratulations, Marguerite! I loved your verses!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the three winners, and to all the others who created great limericks!
ReplyDeleteIt was SO hard to pick, they all evoked memories, smiles and warm fuzzies.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Marguerite! And Wendy (the wonderful image of a nanny in fur) & Lynn (I am so glad the BASKET made it into the competition)!
Congrats to the three winners and to all the other poets who submitted their limericks. I enjoyed them all! Thank you for adding some light and laughter to my week. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners, and also to everybody who entered! It was really hard to choose which ones were my favorites, there were so many good ones.
