Ellis is nearly three years old, so naturally, meeting five adorable kittens got him a little excited. His enthusiasm did frighten the kittens a tad, so they scurried away and under things.
We encouraged him to be still and quiet, and told him that if he was patient, the kittens would come to him.
So Ellis closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep, and Pheona decided it was safe to perch upon him.
Too cute! I think I'm going into diabetic shock from all the sweetness here this morning.
ReplyDeleteBless his little cotton socks!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That just couldn't possibly be cuter! Unless all the other kitties joined Miss Pheona.....
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! And that a 3-year-old could lie quietly long enough for a kitten to come to him? Amazing! I'm trying to imagine my son doing that at that age, and I honestly don't think he could have -- so kudos to Ellis for learning at such a young age how to get along with the kitties!
ReplyDeleteIn honor of Opal (the human) and Ellis I matched their $12.86 donation. Maybe we should have an informal match day - surely we can each match the generosity of a pair of compassionate, adorable future animal advocates. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember a couple of years ago when, in honor of Opal, so many of us added a $1.05 to our contributions. It was terrific! At the end of the fundraiser was another scramble to see that .05 stayed on the tally. Time to check the sofa and car cushions on a quest to match Opal and Ellis' generosity!!!!!
DeleteCherie, I did what you suggested and matched the $12.86.
DeleteCherie, I love that. I just did the same thing.
DeleteJoin the $12.86 party, kitty people!
Brave Pheona!
ReplyDeleteThis photo is adorable! Getting a 3 yr. old to be still and quiet is pretty difficult. Good sleep pretending, Ellis!
ReplyDeleteWell done Ellis! Obviously a future Kitten Whisperer. :)
ReplyDeleteSo adorable photo!
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I agree with PattiS, future Kitten Whisperer!
ReplyDeletePheona's thinking "You can't fool me, kid! You're not really sleeping!"
ReplyDeleteYou got me again! What is it with small children and kittens that make me smirk like a fool?
ReplyDeleteGosh, Ellis did so well pretend-sleeping that Phoena just had to check him out!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious moment!
Laurie,
ReplyDeleteI am interested in speaking with you about this blog. I am associated with my local Humane Society, and would like to start something similar to what you do. I doubt I can do the foster thing though, because I am 7 for 7 when it comes to adopting my foster babies. So, my husband has "banned" me from the fostering role. I am sure you have had many similar requests in the past. But you have done so many wonderful things for your shelter that I would like to "adopt" for my shelter, I just had to ask.
Love that little grin.. He knows that the cat is there and can hardly stay still.
ReplyDeleteSo, so cute.
Too adorable. Love how excited Elis is even though he is being 'still'!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that his self control came with a pay off in the form of Pheona's paws on his back! Great story and adorable photo.
ReplyDeleteThis is me (52 year old white male) when one of my cats stops by when I'm in bed.
ReplyDeleteShe's like "WHY IS THIS MOUNTAIN GIGGLING!?!?!?!??!"
ReplyDeleteSqueeeeee!! Ellis is absolutely adorable!!
