I've been spending a lot of time at my computer these days, so I put a little bed on the corner of my desk, so Charlene can keep me company. She loves it there, and I love having her close.
The Tiptons, who get more and more adventurous each day, discovered they can climb my pant legs and make their way to the top of the desk. They too keep me company, but their adorableness is a tad distracting.
And like to steal my pens and post-it notes.
And they spill things.
But mostly they are adorable, so I let them stay.
So why am I spending so much time at my computer these days?
(Here's the huge news part.)
I'm writing a book.
Yep, an Itty Bitty Kitty Committee book.
And the manuscript is due very soon.
It's been in the works for quite some time, and I've been slowly sharing the news. Some of you local folks may have found out about it already if you happened to catch this podcast I did with my friend, Marguerite.
I'll be telling you more about it later, and promise to share every last detail then.
: )
I can hardly believe it, but a dream I've had for a very long time is coming true.
The next couple months will be hard ones, but don't worry, it shouldn't interrupt your daily dose of itty bitty kitties.
Duh, they're not "distractions," they're being "inspirations"! :) How can you write a book about kittens without some kitten muses?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book!
That such wonderful news, Laurie! I look forward to reading more about it!
ReplyDeleteThose are some mighty adorable "distractions" you have there Laurie. And congratulations on the book! That is so exciting! I can't wait to get a copy!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! I can't wait to buy it!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's so sweet of Charlene to share her bed with the boys.
Yay! An IBKC book! It'll sell squillions of copies of I'm sure. Will there be a special edition with Bean's pawtograph?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you Laurie. You're so creative I'm sure the book will be a total delight. And of course, a dose of itty bitty kitty adorableness will help :)

ReplyDeleteAlso, I would never get any work done with those kinds of distractions.
Yay! I will be the first one to buy it. These little ones are so adorable ... can't wait til we get into an apartment that allows cats & bring home our own.

ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting about the book! What wonderful news! And boy, those little distractions sure are something else. I could hardly manage to get this comment typed up with kittens like that on my desk, let alone write an entire manuscript. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book, I can hardly wait to read updates, but in the mean time the Tiptons and any future IBKC's will keep me happy.
ReplyDeleteI love that wildly out of order bit of ear fluff in Royal's right ear.Fits with the rest of his luciouc fluff.

ReplyDeleteSo pleased that you're doing a book. And the podcast was the sweetest. With all the kittybitties draped all over you, I see you inherited your Dad's cat whisperer talents.

Most deserving blog-to-book EVER.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to the podcast. Loved it. The Smalls, shown on the podcast, really were itty bitty when they arrived. looking forward to the book.

ReplyDeleteI just got a Nook for christmas but this is a hard cpy i must have!
Congratulations on the book deal!! And I DID catch you saying, "the first one" - so it's exciting to have a series to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who got all teary eyed at seeing the Smalls? Laurie - you are truely beautiful - both inside and out.
Many congratulations -- this is the best news I've had today by a long chalk! There's some major, if silent, yippee-ky-aying going on around here.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Your hard work for the kitties has paid off in yet another way. =^..^=
ReplyDeleteSheldon and Pearla can't wait to gnaw on your book! No, really.. they really can't wait. I'm going to have to feel them notecards and Real Simple magazines in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteSo awesome, congrats!!!
Laurie, this is terribly exciting. Very happy to learn this fantastic news. Can not wait!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope we can get Butterbean's autograph. Oh, and yours too, of course, tee hee.
Good luck with the remaining work.
Congrats!!!
ReplyDeletegood thing you have the distractions aka Tiptons on your desk to help with your book! Congratulations, can't wait to buy it!
ReplyDeletecongrats. being a regular reader (and hardly leaves a comment) our mama would surely keep an eye on the release of the book. she can hardly wait now.
ReplyDeleteemma and buster
I am so super excited for you.
ReplyDeleteI personally think Miss Bean's tale would make an excellent children's book. "Hi, I'm Charlene Butterbean. When I was a baby I met a bunny rabbit.... then one person visited the blog.... then one more visited..... and all of a sudden, I had a lot of friends I had never met before! And they loved kitties too!"
I don't see how you can get anything done! Whether it's Charlene or the kittens!
ReplyDeleteWho can get any work with those Tipton brothers looking so dang cute on your desk?! Awesome pictures and awesome news about the book, I can't wait to get a copy...
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful - sure do love the pictures, videos and reading about the kitties!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Laurie! I'll look forward to ordering one for me and a dozen or so for gifts.
ReplyDeleteLove these little Tiptons, too!
Congratulations! I assume Charlene is your protagonist? (and that it's nonfiction, so there really isn't a protagonist)
ReplyDeleteWonderful news! I know what I am getting folks next Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI can see Charlene's providing you with inspiration while teaching the Tiptons how to be muses!!!
Laurie, you live my dream life!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book, Laurie! And what cute little Tiptons!
ReplyDeleteWOOO!
ReplyDeleteHaha on stealing pens - Sheba takes pencils out of my hand and carries them across the room like a prize when she wants attention.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, a book, what a wonder! GOOD LUCK!
ReplyDeleteFabulous news, Laurie! I can't wait for it to be published. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous news. Congrats! I can't wait for it to be published.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I can't wait to hear more about your book. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a book blogger, I fully appreciate this news. Congratulations :-)
ReplyDeleteWell done, I look forward to reading it when it comes out in print.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous news about the book! The Tipton boys are adorable, and you've picked fabric that really compliments their coloration.
ReplyDeleteOooo ... we'd love an Itty Bitty Kitty Book! Very exciting. Congratulations. :)
ReplyDeleteWatch your red Sharpies - the scent makes kitties crazy. Congrats on writing a book!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is hard work - harder with such adorable distractions. I know, worked 10 years with a shop cat, Little Sister who stole all magic markers to sniff them dry.
Awesome news! It could be nonfiction (How to save the world one kitty at a time) or fiction illustrated by wonderful photos of your graduates (Little kitties, new place, and Charlene the Queen). I am so excited!
ReplyDeleteAnd I never noticed how taupe tabbies are. These three look color coded for the modern neutral home!
Oh, what fantastic news. Congratulations! I will be sure to read it. It's funny, I work in publishing and never get any cat books across my desk, which is quite disappointing, boo.
ReplyDeleteI love the Tiptons. I sent their group-tipping photo to my mom because they remind me so much of my kitty when she was a baby. All tabby floof and saucer eyes.
OH MY GOSH (book!!!!)! Cannot wait - everyone I know will get a copy for Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled to hear you are doing An Itty Bitty Committee Book. I will be First in line to buy one. I can't wait. Your photography is amazing.
