Wylla at Her Itty-Bittiest

This is the very first picture I took of Wylla.  She was barely a month old at the time, and weighed almost 14 ounces - most of which was floof.

It's fun to look back at the early pictures to see how she's shifted from the ridiculous, other-worldly kitten she once was to the refined, beautiful little cat she is today.

And it's fun to look back at these old pictures with a new pair of eyes - she wasn't my baby then, but now she is.

  1. I used to wonder if she could ever grow into all that floof! She has beautifully and I'm so glad we'll get to see how all that floof turns out!

  3. I love this! I will never forget this pic (or maybe it was one very similar). Hubby and I were on Kauai on holiday and I checked IBKC like I do every morning...and there she was! I squealed with joy! I will always remember when the Stouts came on board - and especially little Wylla!

  7. I contemplated linking it in comments the other day once I found it on 7 February -- I remember the huge "get your heart meds" lead up and everything. So cute then! So cute now!

  8. And who else but you, LaLaLaurie, would have kidden size furniture just for her special medical needs? She will be a great fund raising ambassadoress along with Sister Bean. We are all so happy to see her grow right along with you.

  9. It's funny, the fur on her chest still has that wavy, out-of-control styling to it!

  14. I looked back to this photo about a week ago, and marveled at how much she has matured. I will never forget "The...Floofiest...Friday...Ever!" She was, is and always will be so adorable! Her transformation from that little ball of fluff, to the wide-eyed beauty she has become, is a testament to your commitment, hard work, and love for what you do. I am so happy for you, Craig, Charlene and Wylla that you decided to keep her! You are all saints!

    1. This is the best BEST news in a not-so-happy week ... so many other things going on and then there's this bombshell of happiness. Thank goodness for darling kittens and ESPECIALLY WYLLA! "She wasn't my baby then, but now she is." It made my throat close up... oh Laurie, I'm so glad you have your very own little Wylla now. May you have many many happy years together.

    2. I know! "She wasn't my baby before, but now she is." is just the sweetest thing ever. Heartwarming :D.

I am also glad that now Laurie doesn't have to try to tone down or hold in her love for Wylla at all.

  20. I think it's nice that Charlene now has someone to back her up on the "I'm not fat, I'm floofy" team. :)

  21. I'm so happy she's officially part of the family! And the more floof, the better, IMHO...

  22. So so glad you are keeping her. She belongs with you. She is simply adorable.

  23. Are you going to put the little yellow house collar on her then take her out to the porch and bring her back in...just to be official?

  24. Ok, I am not the only one who got a heart leap at the phrase "...but now she is" So happy for you all!

And I agree with a previous commenter - a Bean and baby sis fundraising campaign could reach new heights this year for the shelter!!!

    Hugs to all!

  25. Wylla is your baby now Laurie (plus Craig & Bean!), as you have observed before, the universe came through once again in a big way! I look forward to seeing her grow up with Bean to guide her - lol, kind of like Barbie and Skipper :)! I've been following IBKC since the Mayfields and I understand how huge it is adding Wylla to your family - she's so special! This little girl is a welcome addition indeed!

  26. I do believe that you have the most adorable, flooffiest baby ever. (I can safely say that because my own kitty isn't the floofy sort and also isn't within earshot at present. :-))

  27. Like everyone else, I remember this photo so well, and all the OMGGGG!s and *thuds* and ded from the cyoot!s and FLOOOOOOFs that followed.

And now Wylla is Laurie's baby, and little Audrey is buggin' out with her furever family, lol, and Filbert is watching his sisters and Beanie from kitty heaven, knowing that all is right.

  29. Of all the new-to-your-care kitten pictures you have posted over the years ), I think this is the cutest EVER. All that floof! And those big eyes! And those long whiskers! And that curly chest fur! I've always preferred short-haired, sleek kitties, but Wylla grabbed my heart instantly, just like she everybody else's, I suspect -- especially yours, Craig's, and Bean'! And now she's your baby ..... you really know how to make us all melt, don't you?

  30. This whole thing makes me so freakin' happy for everyone concerned that I can barely stand it.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Wylla responds to her first litter of fosters, and betting she takes to them like a kitty to catnip.

  31. She was always your baby, Laurie. You just thought she was going to be someone else's eventually, too!

  32. =(^-^)= I could never imagine Wylla being anywhere other than right where she is. After all the love and devotion you've showered her with, she'd have been soooo confused if you just suddenly vanished from her life. Charlene, of course, has known this all along; hence, the plethora of extra attention she's given Wylla along the way! =(^-^)=

  36. I am so glad you kept her....and I can tell that you are basking in the happiness of this decision!

Whenever I saw photos of her, all I chould think of is " what is this poor little thing going to do without her current family, who have perfectly cared for her during difficult times? Who else could care for her like they do?" I was always worried about that.

I am so happy that she has a forever home with you guys.

  37. Laurie, I discovered your site a couple months ago and very quickly became a daily visitor. IBKC is one of the best sites, in my opinion, on the internet...

I am sending positive energy for your book deal because you and your love of cats and artistic, beautiful photography really deserves a book and more.

I wanted to tell you that I had some extra time today and checked out glitterhausholiday.blogspot.com and lalalaurie.com and WOW, you are one amazingly talented lady!

Your stunning collection of holiday ornaments and decor is some of the best I have seen and I can't thank you enough for your sharing of them with us.

I love especially what you did in the party suite of that hotel over this past holiday and the one before. You are a genius!

IBKC and your world is one in which gentleness, sensitivity and vulnerability are celebrated....I wish everyone was like you and saw things thru your eyes...the world would be a much better place.

Thanks again for sharing your luminous, magical world with us. IBKC and even your craft sites, are a welcome respite from the craziness of our everyday lives !

  39. Wylla eye color changed. I know it is very common, but now I looked at it again. I loved it both.

  40. My favorite thing about Wylla was her floof coloring, but also that sweet pink nose! I don't remember any other kitties where that nose just stood out! As she has gotten older, I notice in the pictures that it isn't so prominent. But in the early days it was just the cutest thing EVER!
