Standing Up and Keeping it Down

Wylla's getting a wee bit longer, so I had to elevate her eating station with a couple of boxes. The more stretched-out she can be while eating, the quicker the food goes down.

I puree her food and add a little water, so it's easier for her to digest.  It's a little messy and she gets a few drips on her bib, but it works.

We're still fine-tuning the process, but these days, she's managing to keep most of her meals down.

  1. That third picture is so funny! It reminds me of my older brothers during meals, trying to make me ill by showing me their chewed up food... Apparently Miss Wylla is not dainty 100 percent of the time.

I'm so happy that she has grown enough to need her food bowl raised. Keep eating, Wylla, and keep on keeping it down!

  2. She's getting to be a big girl now. We saw how long she was getting yesterday. Whatever you're doing is working well for her to grow so big!

  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you and Craig are the perfect parents for wee Wylla! You care so much for her, and DO so much for her...thank you for being so great. She is such a doll!

  4. Yay! that she's keeping most of her meals down, even if she is a bit drippy! I hope she grows a bit more, even though I know she'll always be small, but the bigger she can get, hopefully the healthier she'll be.

Will we get to see a picture of her shaved tummy before all that delectable floof grows back?

  5. I am so surprised that she willingly stands and eats. All the kitties that I've ever had would have knocked the bowl down with a swat of the paw. Wylla must *know* that this is what is best for her!

  6. This little one tugs at my heart every time I see her - I love today's photos.

  7. Well this brings to mind the humorous story of Bean's trip (fall, slide, ??) down the porch rail and the picture of Bean in that "sitting on her butt, belly splayed out, upright" position. Every girl has her less than dainty days and a real Mom always catches it in a picture. Well done Mom and equally well done Wylla - you are still dazzling.

  8. I was wonderng what type of food you feed her? Is it special A/D diet type stuff? For extra protien? Or is that stuff too rich for her system? I'll understand if you don't want to go into great detail about her feeding. Just curious. She is obviously doing well, whatever you are doing...well enough to outgrow her dining table :) She is so sweet and lovely, even with her breakfast dripping from her cute little mouth.

    1. She was on Hill's i/d but now we've transitioned her to a grain-free food from Halo. It's working well because she likes it, and will remain standing while she eats it. With other foods, she would nibble and hop down.

    2. Ah yes-of course the most important consideration of all...is what Wylla likes!

  9. I just want to snorgle that drippy, cute chin! She is quite the smart young lady, to know that her food will stay down better eating this way. And I rather like the long lanky kitties, especially the floofy ones!

  10. So adorable--she's so lucky to have you to look after and love her, and treat her with such kindness. And we are so lucky to be able to share her life through your photos and posts. The one of her with the food around her mouth is just so sweet.

  12. Please tell me those aren't mini boxes of mini reams of mini paper for the mini copier.

    1. Ha! No! They contained 4 x 6 postcards.

    2. Not little mini postcards for the FUNdraiser set?

      Phooey!

    3. Darn, so they aren't itty bitty postcards or tiny fliers for the FUNdraiser?

I adore the 'Wylla Interrupted' poses in her 2nd and 3rd pix.

  13. Hard to believe she used to stand up to eat on that little table (right?).

  14. The third picture down, it's like she's saying, "Mom, do you have to take pictures of me like this? It's so embarrassing!" *G*

  16. So darn precious with her licking her chops and smacking her lips! No wonder Bean loves to give her so many baths! You are an amazing mommy for this little girl and I think we are all relieved that sweet, dainty (sometimes messy) Wylla is in a home where she will always be cared for and loved!

  17. I was wondering how many times a day you feed Wylla and if you could recommend any web sites that talk about Mega E.

And then of course mostly, does Bean ever want to eat Wylla's food?

    Thanks

  18. Usually 4 times a day. Try googling it - there's not really one place to recommend. Sometimes Bean licks up the left-overs, which is fine. It's not kitten food, so it's OK for her.

  19. Hey, I use a bib myself. And I'm not nearly as adorable as this dinky dolly.

How wonderful that she's taking all this in her stride. I know that the attitude you and Craig exhibit goes a long way toward helping her deal with all her challenges.

  20. oh, these pictures made my day. :) precious. glad that she's well!

  21. She's going to be such a majestic little cat!

  22. I notice her water bowl is on the floor. Does it stay down all day or only at feeding time, and does she not need to be upright for drinking, too?

    1. She usually has a small bowl on the table. Must have been in the dishwasher at the time i took this photo.

  23. How cute! I'm guessing she's getting used to having her face washed :)

  24. Now THAT is the face of a very happy baby cat! :-)

  25. What a delight Wylla is! My younger cat had a lot of digestive problems when he was younger and needed to have his food heated up to encourage him. Several years on, I still have to add just-boiled water to his meals, even when my apartment is hot as all get-out. But it's nothing compared to what your beautiful youngster needs.
