I went back through the IBKC archives to see if there were any photos of a wee Bean with the folks, and I believe this would of have been their very first visit after we adopted Charlene.
She would have been about 18 months when this photo was taken. Her coat is so much lighter then! And my dad's was so much darker!
Look closely, and you'll see little Willamena Bouvier perching there too.
On occasion, Charlene will occupy the back of her favorite pink chair when a house guest sits there, but usually when people are around, she'll walk into the room, make the rounds, brush up against every pair of legs, then will sit in the center of the living room rug and observe her surroundings. She likes to see what's going on and feel in control of the situation. In the middle, she can do just that.
When she feels she can let her guard down, she will flop and lay belly-up. She is NOT soliciting belly scratches - she's just signaling that she's relaxed, ready to play, or in need of some cooling down.
I've seen my dad do the same on the living room rug. But you can scratch his belly.
Awww Teen Bean! <3 She was cute then too!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, and I was lucky enough to get the following underneath:

Charlene is adorable at any age!
Oh my goodness that is one of my all-time favorite posts - poor Drewey!
DeleteAwww! Your family is awesome, Laurie!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Hi Little Miss Bean! <3
ReplyDeleteHi Beanie! (Also, Martin Hooper, "Teen Bean": A++)
ReplyDeleteHey guys, not to bring down the room or anything, but my darling Mini is not doing so well. She had a tooth extraction last week, and we're waiting to hear the results of a biopsy. She's lost over a half pound since last year and is more bitty now than ever (and she was never not wee, hence "Mini"). She'll be 18 soon. She's everything to me, as I am sure you all understand.
This community is just about the most amazing group ever in the whole history of time, and I've seen us move mountains time and again, so maybe you all could cross your paws and say a li'l prayer for my girl. (Don't tell her I asked, though. She'll be all "Moooom, I'm fine!")
thanks in advance
Aw! This will probably sound corny, but you have such a cute way with words. (For Example : Bean doesn't want belly scratches, but your Dad doesn't mind! That made me chuckle.)
ReplyDeleteLvV - sending healing thoughts your and Mini's way!
ReplyDeleteLove the Teen Bean comment, Martin!
And little Willamena! <3
Thank you, Julia. :)
DeleteLvV: The paws of one human and several cats are crossed for your Mini. Bless her. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you Anonymous. Your well wishes mean so much to us.
DeleteCharlene is just gorgeous. Who is the little one facing away from her?
ReplyDeleteWas this before your dad realized he was a kitten whisperer?
ReplyDeleteAwww, even back then she was floofy.
ReplyDeleteLvV, LG and I are also sending healing thoughts and prayers Mini's way.
Thanks so much, LG and LG's mom :)
