That Wylla is Such a Hoot!

Well, we ALMOST left with the orange fleece vest,  but ended up with the owl sweater in the end.

While in the store, I examined the fleece coat closely, and thought it would be easy enough to make one for Wylla's fall and winter outings.  Also, it didn't fit quite right - the length was good, but it was a little too big through the middle. It had velcro closures, so it could be cinched up tight, but it made it too bulky underneath with all that extra fabric.  She's an extra-small/extra-long and needs to shop where dachshunds buy there outerwear!

She has a couple of events to attend this fall, so I thought the owl sweater might be good for these special occasions.  The owl sweater fit her well  - the length offers decent coverage, the placement of the arm holes is good, it's wide enough to easily slip on and off,  but not too big through the middle.

It will keep her toasty and stylish too!

The squirrel was a close second, but I thought the light color would get soiled too easily.  The moose wasn't really a contender at all.

So, to all of you who guessed the owl sweater, please give yourself a pat on the back!

  5. Oh, yay! Although I voted for the fleece, I'd hoped it was the owl sweater! Can you give us a hint, Laurie, on how big around Wylla's tummy is and how long a sweater needs to be to fit her properly? Pretty please? If I knit something special for her, I want it to be something she can wear and enjoy!

    1. Let me think about that - I fear if I share those numbers I may create a sweater frenzy.

It's very touching that folks want to create something for our wee girl. xoxoo You al; are the best.

  6. This was my first choice but I didn't realize about the fitting issues; hard to tell without being there. She looks adorable in it! Can't wait to see photos of her scampering through the snow (Please? Please?)

    1. Winters are wet here, but not usually snowy. It snows maybe once a year, and it's usually not much. Given the fact she gets cold so easy, we'll probably avoid stepping out on days that cold.

  9. Instead of "woot woot!", I'll have to say "hoot hoot!" for Wylla and her new sweater now! :)

  10. The color really brings out her ginger patches. And she is a wise little owl.

I'm guessing Charlene's not much of a clothes-wearer, but maybe she'd tolerate a scarf or something in a matching color long enough for a nice fall family picture?

  11. Well she just looks adorable in her sweater. I must say, a girl can never have too many sweaters and if she has a number of social events to attend she may also need the squirrel sweater - it just looked so good on her. Surely her dainty self would not dirty her duds.

  14. I love that when Wylla does all her stepping out, she goes shopping for crunchies and toys for her big sister Charlene. Such a thoughtful little sister! And so convenient for Bean not to have to interrupt her napping schedule to run errands.

  16. She could not be any cuter! So glad you picked the owl sweater. The color suits her perfectly! She's going to need a mini dresser to match the mini table so she can store her fancy duds!!

    1. Or even a Wee Wylla sized clothes rack on wheels so she can push it around and chase it when her sis is just not into pouncing.

  17. I wanted to vote for the owl sweater, but thought you'd probably get the fleece. She will be so hooterly adorable. And yes, hooterly is a word, if I want it to be.

  18. Hi, y'all. Laurie, you have a point about whether or not to disclose the little owl's measurements. I'm not a knitter... but it would be very, very difficult not to go out and get a little something commissioned. Especially if she has a lot of socializing this holiday season!!! Love, darin

  21. I agree with Denise. That color is great for her coloring. The neckline is especially stylish on her!

  22. Are there special safety issues for cat coats? Cats lick groom so much more than dogs and some cats I know chew on wool. Wylla looks great, though. Hope she's warm.

    1. If I felt wearing a coat posed any sort of safety threat, she wouldn't be wearing it. She only wears one when we're out and about on colder days, and I doubt she's thinking about grooming when we're on the go.

  23. I can only imagine what it must take to get Wylla in & out of a sweater... Oh, dear, I fear her red leash may clash with the orange sweater.
