Wylla outgrew her little vintage dining set so we upgraded her eating station to a small wooden crate. She's kind of a messy eater, so I put a piece of vinyl on the top to catch the drips. It's working well for now, but I'm sure outgrow it soon enough. Once she's done getting longer, we'll build a permanent piece for her dining needs.
Here's our lanky girl today.
Here she is back in April.
And here she is in early March, when she was first diagnosed with Megaesophagus.
My, how she's grown!
While cleaning the house in preparation for our Tea, I ran across this list of the medications she was on back in March - she's really come a long way. Now, there's no daily doses of anything other than a nutritional supplement.
Things have definitely improved for Wylla, but she's not all better. We had hoped she might grow out of her condition, but it seems if that was going to happen, it would have happened by now.
That's OK - she's feeling good, growing (albeit slowly) living med-free, and her Mega-E is manageable. She's in a good place, and I'm grateful for the progress she's made.
Wow! It's easy to see just how much she has grown with these pictures. Can't wait to see just how big she ends up getting.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those comparison photos really show how much longer Wylla has gotten, both in body and in legs! She's really looking like a very small adult kitty now, isn't she?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so glad she's off all those meds! No wonder you didn't want to foster again until you got her all squared away. That's a complicated medication regimen for anybody, human or feline!
And off topic, if I could ask for good thoughts for our elderly lab, Isaac. He was discovered yesterday to have a *very* enlarged liver; we're hoping it's just an infection, but if it's a tumor, it may mean Very Bad News indeed. He's nearly 13, so he's had a good life, and fortunately he's still happy and seems in no discomfort. But any goodwill coming his way would be much appreciated!
Fingers crossed that good news for Isaac comes your way soon! Virtual hugs to all of you.
DeleteBest wishes for Isaac!
DeleteWoof, woof to Isaac...am hoping for good news...<3.
DeleteSending good wishes to Isaac!
DeleteSending good wishes to Isaac!
DeleteSending reiki healing energy to Isaac & all of you <3
DeleteFeel better, pup. (That's from me. LG says "grrrr." It's nothing personal. He's just that way about doggies. :-))
DeleteSending best wishes to Isaac!
DeleteWarm healing and love to you and Isaac.
DeleteIts never easy when they feel so poorly.
She's such a little dear! It's so great to see how much she really has grown (if not yet fattened up) over these past several months!
ReplyDeleteThat baby girl got so lucky when she landed at your house. Thanks for taking such good care of her and sharing her with us all---good and bad. :-)
ReplyDeleteTina & The Kittyboyz
It is heartening to actually see how much Wylla has grown. While I have missed you fostering many kitten litters this summer, it has been delightful to watch an Itty Bitty become a teenager on her way to adulthood. Thank you for keeping her in our lives.
ReplyDeleteShe is definitely in a good place. I would say she is in a VERY good place!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your home became her furever home!
ReplyDeleteKinda-Long Kitty is kinda long. ;) So glad to see how well Wylla's doing.
ReplyDeleteWylla is so darn cute! I love that teeny tiny tail in the March photos... And I'm also glad to hear that she is off all of those meds. That was indeed quite a list!
ReplyDeleteYou and Craig and Charlene are so wonderful for her!
ReplyDeleteHer progress is amazing, I forgot how small she was at first...Shows what a lot of TLC can do for a kitty!!! Thanks for loving her and keeping her in the family so we can watch her grow up and get healthier! Even though she might not outgrow her condition she is in the best place she can be!
ReplyDeleteWow! She really is a miracle kitty.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Wylla and it is so wonderful that you are raising her. A lot of people would not be kind and patient enough. I'm just wondering if you plan on fostering kittens again. I know it might be difficult with Wylla needing special care.
ReplyDeleteDoes she think other kitties are odd for not eating while on tippy-toes?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of Wylla's growth and progress. She is such a little trooper! Her new crate is perfect for her.And I adore her magnificent tail!
ReplyDeleteThank Cod, she is no longer needing all those meds! Hugs all around!
Wow! You don't really notice the progress until you see how things were months ago. You've helped her so much and she's responded fantastically!
ReplyDeleteI recognize one of those books in picture 5 - "I Could Pee on This" is a book of poems written by cats; someone just gave me a copy as a gift!
ReplyDeleteAww, what a sweet, lanky little girl. Maybe she needs one of those ruler-thingies like they put on the wall for kids, to track her growth. Just a thought. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great foster and then furever mommy she has, to cobble together those little dining sets, keep track of all those meds, walk around with her after each meal, and, oh yeah, take pics and blog about it all. Makes me tired just thinking about it. You go, mommy!
I am going to show that list to my cat who objects to ONE medication twice a day...my heavens.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteLaurie, I always knew you were devoted to this girl and put a lot of work in to get her healthy, but I'm not sure I comprehended just what that meant until I saw that med list... and I probably STILL don't, really.
WOW she sure has gotten lanky!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that she's off all of those meds. Yay acupuncture, standing-up eating, mega-TLC, & the Laurie-Craig-Bean team. Look at Wee Wylla grow!
It's truly amazing all the work, patience and emotional strength that Laurie, Craig and Charlene have put in to raise Wee Wylla. You are all such caring folks.
ReplyDeleteAnd golly Wylla's an amazing girl! And with her stepping out adventures, traveling, wardrobe shopping, tea party-hosting, etc., seems to have a life more amazing than many of us.
That little cat touches my heart. I think if Alex came home and saw me teary eyed, his first question would be "is Wylla okay?".... Laurie- you are the BEST.
ReplyDeleteYay - how much she's grown!!
ReplyDeleteYay - so happy to see how much she's grown!
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great job raising Wylla! She's so lucky to have found you. Hugs to Both Bean and Wylla. Mary A
ReplyDeleteOh she is so darling. As is her stylish eating nook.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for you Laurie, Craig & Charlene :-)
Smiling all the way from Aus :-)
Such a fantastic reminder of her truly wee days!
ReplyDeleteShe has lived a charmed life - furrbulous big sis, amazing parents who saw her through such a challenging start.
And I don't believe that was a list of meds, that was an inventory of a pharmacy!
That little flashback made me very happy. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm thrilled that Wylla has come such a long way from her iffy beginnings, and it's wonderful to see her sweet, sleek healthy self … I have to say I dearly miss the days of that round little baby belly.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet, though, that Laurie and Craig do not miss, not for one minute, keeping track of and administering that array of meds. A nutritional supplement only after all that - Hooray!!
Wee Wylla is precious in every form! What a lucky girl to land in your home :)
ReplyDeleteKeep on growing Wylla!
ReplyDeleteWe are always praying, Laurie, for her complete healing....you just never know....it may take a year or two even, but miracles do happen, in my world, anyway.
