Mr and Mrs Kitten Whisperer arrived at the end of last week, and we've been having great fun spending time with them. Mostly, we've just been hanging around the house doing holiday things and watching the cats play, but we did have to venture out yesterday because our cat food supply dwindling down.
Wylla absolutely loves going to the pet store, so we brought her along.
She sniffed around, test-drove a few kitty towers and beds, and we picked out a few cans of food. She rode on Grandma's shoulder and kept a safe distance from a couple of over-accessorized, small, yappy dogs that were circling the store in a cart.
We took a stroll down the rodent aisle - she loves to watch those critters burrow and gnaw.
But the best part of this trip was visiting the parakeet display.
She could watch them for hours.
She found all that fluttering about and chirping to be quite fascinating.
I think she could have coaxed Grandma into buying her one of those birds - Grandmas can be such pushovers - but instead we came home with a pair of felt mice.
Love the birdwatching pictures.. Mean ol' Mom, not letting her take one home. :( Do you have birdfeeders in your yard that the cats can watch? Mine love the entertainment that they can provide.
ReplyDeleteShe has grown up to be quite the lovely lady.

ReplyDeleteWhat delightful photos! If we ever get a kitten again (we tend to adopt adult cats), I'm going to encourage her/him to ride on my shoulder.
ReplyDeleteYes, but bear in mind the "Wee" part of "Wee Wylla"...haha.
DeleteWylla and Mrs. Kitten Whisperer clearly have formed a lovely bond. So cute, the way your mom was pointing out the birds to Wylla!
ReplyDeletewhat fun! Wylla and grandma look like they are having a great time!
ReplyDeletelove seeing Wylla out and about.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to send you a link: http://bestfriends.org/Get-Involved/Guardian-Angel/Animals/Mimi/ This is a kitty that makes me think of Wylla when I read the updates - and they put her food dishes up on flower pots :)
My old lady cat used to watch bird videos on youtube; hours of innocent entertainment!
ReplyDeleteWylla has certainly trained her grandma well :)
ReplyDeleteTotally adorable!!
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable! I'm glad to hear that everyone is enjoying the visit. I love the way Wylla was looking right where her grandma pointed--what a great team!
ReplyDeleteIndia and Zou love birds also. (Of course). What an adorable trip to the pet store. Wylla is beyond well behaved.
ReplyDeleteAwww, Grandma! C'mon, can't a kid have fun?? Our cats have lived somewhat peacefully with our 'Tiel, Daniel for 5 years....(knock on wood)
ReplyDeleteAww, felt mice are nice, but NO comparison to chirpy, fluttering birds! If mama won't let Grandma buy a parakeet, then get a bird feeder to hang outside a window!
ReplyDeleteWylla looks so cute eyeballing the Budgies! Have a happy new year!!
ReplyDelete"A couple of over-accessorized, small, yappy dogs" (giggle) My dogs roll their eyes every time we run into that at the pet store!
ReplyDeleteWylla sure looks like she is fun to spoil !
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful photo essay! She's such a smart alert girl and so comfortable in so many settings. She looks so happy with your mum--I hope you are having a wonderful time with your parents. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWell said -- and I'd like to second exactly these thoughts because I couldn't say it any better than this! :)
DeleteYou said in one post that you believe Wylla often reminds strangers of happy memories of cats they have known. Wylla's intent gaze on the parakeets reminded me so much of how my late kitty would watch the birds from the window sill of my apartment. Some cats are fishing cats and some love chipmunks or mice, but the cats who love birds are dear to my heart.
