This is a very messy stage for little Effie and Hazel. As they learn to master eating and using the litter box too, both ends are often in need of wiping. Warm water and a rag usually do the trick, but Sunday morning, that just wasn't enough, so into the sink they went for a good scrubbing.
Both girls did great, and didn't squeal or struggle at all. I wouldn't say they liked it, but they didn't protest.
After a quick blow-dry, we put them into their warm bed, and they both gave themselves a post-bath bath.
Here they are all shiny, floofy, and clean.
Look closely, Effie has a little heart on her nose.
Sadly, they don't stay clean long. I'm sure they'll be back in the bath before the week is out.
Effie has a little love kiss on her snout! Oh, kitten, you won't spend a minute on the market. Someone out there has already fallen for you!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of them wet confirm what I already suspected: They are 90% floof. Adorable floof.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Hazel is all eyes and ears in the first pic. I think she may be the cutest little bat, um, cat girl I ever saw!
ReplyDeleteHer cuteness burns!
Deletelol
DeleteSuch pretty babies! And I love how cats always have to bathe themselves after a human-provided bath - it's like we're not doing it right!
ReplyDeleteClean babies!! I just love Effie's little heart and Hazel's worried expression.
ReplyDeleteAhhh such cute little fluffballs :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing... clean now but for how long.... but they are such little bitty sweeties. I wish I could cuddle them.
ReplyDeleteI love that heart on Effie's nose... too sweet.
I cannot wait till Charlene can take over this task!
ReplyDeleteI do believe they will have long fluff- especially Effie. I hope whoever gets her keeps posting pictures so we can watch her fur grow!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking the same thing. Both little sweethearts look like they'll at least be medium if not long haired domestic kitty girls. Their ears look so fluffy.
DeleteThey are just the cutest little baby girls!
Buddy and Tiger's Mom
I have never had kittens, since we always adopt adult rescue cats. Therefore, can someone please answer this question for me? Will the kittens keep the eye color they have now or can the eyes still change color? (Much like a human baby can change eye color for up to a year of age.)
ReplyDeleteThey are all born with blue eyes. There's a good chance that Effie will keep hers - many Siamesey types have blue eyes. Hazel's will probably change.
DeleteYep....been there. We laugh that all freshly bathed kittens look like aliens :)
ReplyDeleteOMG OMG OMG
ReplyDeleteHazel has the most perfect down-turned stuffed teddy bear mouth EVER. And Effie's heart, guhh. These gals are too cute!
Big Squeeeeee. They are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteCute! Cute! Cute! Did I mention Cute?
ReplyDeleteLaurie, you might want to provide some caveats about bathing kittens so that someone doesn't try to follow your example and do it poorly. Warm room, Dawn or soap without additives, immediately dry, do not dunk their heads, etc. Love these girls!
ReplyDeleteI think it's okay. Laurie always provides such great care - and usually is quite descriptive about making sure the room's warm, having the little post-bath heating pads, and such. . I believe enough in this community that if someone is inexperienced and needs tips, they know they can ask Laurie. Or even Bean! :-D
DeleteLaurie, how you manage to get ANYTHING done that isn't kitten related is beyond me. I'd be lying on the floor/bed/couch staring at these wee ones all day long.
ReplyDeleteI'm.In.Love.
ReplyDeleteI hope Effie keeps that heart as she grows up, that's really special! And I love Hazel's white patch on her chin. What squee!
ReplyDeleteGah! They've gotten so big in the last couple of days! Adorable!!
ReplyDeleteMy late grandmother, named Hazel, was an expert disapprover. I think she may have been reincarnated.
ReplyDeleteSeeing your kittens is the highlight of my day...adorable ! I particularly LOVED the first photo but all were amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have no words for this. Too adorable! xo
ReplyDeleteMessy babies and baths! My beloved Sissy got used to having her back half washed. I've wondered if frequent bathing as kittens makes cats more tolerant or less tolerant of baths!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Love Effie's nose heart!
ReplyDeleteThat first photo of Hazel is killing me! She looks like some sort of alien creature, all eyes and cuteness.
ReplyDeleteHow do you get the kitties to tolerate the blow dry? Is the trick to start training them early? My cats are deathly afraid of the hair dryer.
Oh the little nose heart! I hope she keeps that into adulthood!
ReplyDeleteOMG if I live near you I would adopt Hazel, she has stolen my heart. The love heart on Effies' nose is adorable
ReplyDeleteHazel's picture is definitely a "You haz betrayed my tiny trust" moment.
