Two Little Piggies

This weekend, both little girls completed the transition to solid food!  This is a major milestone!  Hazel figured it out fast, but it didn't come as easy for Effie. She had a hard time letting go of the syringe, but once she did, there was no turning back.

They burrow their snouts into the food, and it gets all over their faces. They step in their dishes, and track the food everywhere.  With every change in diet, no matter how slow the transition, there is diarrhea.  And they step it that too, and track it everywhere.

This is one of the messiest stages of kittenhood, but we'll transition out of that soon.  Until then, there are many sponge baths and loads of laundry!

  3. Reminds me so much of 'dining with the Dearborns'. Like little Sheldon and Pearla at the trough! :). Thanks for the morning giggle dear Laurie, you have your work cut out for you with these two.

  5. I stumbled upon a kitty burrito flashback here: http://news.distractify.com/fun/animals-fun/the-21-most-ridiculously-scrumptious-animal-burritos-ever/?v=1

#11 is one of yours, Laurie! The linked it to "lovemeow" which properly credited you at least. I can't remember who exactly it is though! I just recognized the excellent burrito technique.

  6. This brings back sweet memories of my 2 oldest kitties when they were bottle babies (they are 7 now, time flies!!!) At this rate, Effie & Hazel will be growing like weeds eating all that yummy food!

    Hazel: Have any more?
Effie: (giving the stinkeye to Hazel) Eat yer own food!

  10. This is why you are such an angel for fostering these little babies. Most people don't realize how messy, and smelly and poopy and messy and smelly kittens can be! They are a LOT of work BUT they are also adorable and hilarious and sweet and innocent and curious and adventurous and .....well you get the picture.

  13. Oh my gosh, they are so cute at that age. I need some new fosters. I know the kitten season is coming so it shouldn't be long now.

I had a little foster last year that even after her siblings started eating solid food refused to do so, she loved her milk. I started mixing in small amounts of canned food into the milk a little at a time until it became a pretty thick mixture. A few days later she started eating it without milk. The best part was no diarrhea.

  14. lol! Also loved the last pilfering shot and Effie's quivering tail and the nom-noises. (LG also eats with much gusto and lip-smacking.) I also liked little Hazel tipping her saucer up in - is that pic #8 (kinda small screen here)? Oh, and her mush-beard in multiple pics. Such adorable little kits they are!
