A Loss in Our Community
A few days ago, I received a very sad email from Evelyn, who had adopted our sweet Virgil Pettibone back in 2008. If you were following the IBKC all the way back then, you'll remember how dear that whole litter was. OH, how we loved those Pettibones.
In her email, Evelyn reported that her lovely boy had passed away at the end of July due to a blood disease. He was a very special little guy who brought a tremendous amount of joy to his mama, and we know this loss is huge for her.
We're so sorry for his passing, Evelyn, and deeply saddened by this news. That handsome, blue-eyed, boy was indeed a special one. We remember him with great fondness and so enjoyed the time we spent with him while he was in our care.
This whole community shares in your loss, Evelyn, and we're sending lots of love your way.

The day Virgil went to your home, he hit the jackpot. He lived the best of kitty lives and you gave him that gift. Big hugs for you and those who also enjoyed the life of Virgil.

Evelyn, I am so, so sorry about your loss of the sweet, beautiful Virgil. He left much too soon.
ReplyDeleteI know that his time on earth was the best, in the arms of a family who loved him dearly.
The Pettibones were one of my favorite litters and little Virgil was, in my opinion, the pick of that litter. I'm so sorry to hear this and know how much you must be hurting right now, Evelyn.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I remember Virgil and especially love that last picture. I lost my Magoo only last night at 5 years old. I know all too well how hard it is to lose a furbaby that young. I hope my Magoo is now playing with your Virgil.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Susan, on the loss of your Magoo....this is so hard. As I told Evelyn regarding Virgil, at least we know that they spent their little lives in the arms of a loving family.
DeleteThank you anonymous at 2:04. Also, my grief-math is terrible! Magoo was indeed four- not five. Scary I am a teacher, right? Anyway, I hope he and Virgil are fast friends.
DeleteAnother kitten has his wings and will see you at the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I'm so sorry for your loss, Evelyn.

ReplyDeleteWhat is so wonderful is the supportiveness of this group. Thank you Laurie, for being such a strong, compassionate leader and deft storyteller, and letting us all share in the life of these incredible kittens/cats. Please continue to post even such sad news. You have created a community, and a community shares both joys and sorrows.

My heart goes out to you, Evelyn. Virgil was certainly a special one - as you know better than anyone! I hope you can feel the collective arms of this community that are hugging you in this sad time.
ReplyDeleteI've been following for years and absolutely remember the Pettibones and those handsome blue eyes! I think the second to last picture says it all - his hugging his gold medal to his little chest. He didn't know it then, but he had just won himself a Mommy! My thoughts are with you and with commenter Susan. Love, Darin.
ReplyDeleteA big hug to you, Evelyn. What sad news...
