Over the Gate
Wylla has been coming and going over the gate and into the kitten room since quarantine was up last week. She makes a dash to find their food first, but once she realizes dishes are out of her reach, she moves on to mingle with the kittens. She's got her priorities!
Bean can't leap over the gate, so the other day I picked her up and dropped her into the room. She hopped up on the bed where most of the Von Tussles were hanging out, and made a beeline for her favorite flavor - the long-haired tabby boy. He was very excited to meet her, too.
Greta has figured out how to scale the gate, so yesterday I let the Von Tussles out to explore the main floor. Though they've seemed completely happy in the guest room, I think they were pretty excited to explore a bigger space.
I don't want six kittens under foot all day long, and I do want Bean and Wylla to have some peace and quiet, so the plan is to bring the Von Tussles out for play sessions, then tuck them away in their room for naps and meals. So far, the plan is working fine.

OMG, all the cats/kittens together just pushed the cuteness threshold!!! Love the pics of Bean and little Malcolm getting introduced! She is not the only one with a weakness for tabby boys!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to Bean's preference for long-haired tabby male kittens...always my favorite!
ReplyDeletelove the way they all politely sit in a row while Bean does her inspection
ReplyDeleteDitto!
DeleteOh, I would love to spend a day with you and this adorable bunch!!!
ReplyDeleteI too love the floofy boy! Got one of my own, Reilly the Maine Coon. Glad Beanie got to meet Malcolm finally!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great plan. Do you think Butterbean taught Wylla that the kitten crunchies are the highest priority or did she figure it out by herself? It's amazing how both cats are so welcoming of new kittens. Has Wylla decided on a favorite "flavor" yet?
ReplyDeleteI think any cat could figure that out with out any help.
DeleteMy cats totally think kitten food is the best part of fostering! It's always tricky for me to get the kitten food where the itty bitties can get it but the resident adults (and the dog) can't.
DeleteLooks like Malcolm has developed enough charm for people and cats alike.
ReplyDeleteWylla has certainly earned her Jr Kitten Wrangler badge!
ReplyDeleteWylla and Bean are such good kitties! We got a wee one on Sunday, and our fluff monster has been all jealous growls... though today she licked the kitten's tail briefly.
ReplyDeleteI love watching Charlene perform the meet & lick ritual.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun to see what preferences Wylla develops as time goes forward
OMG wylla is so beautiful & amazing! i love seeing her & bean with the kittens!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Wylla was passing on secret Tortie knowledge in those pictures you snapped. And I won't even hate on Charlene's preference for cute tabby boys. A cute ginger guy will turn my head so fast you can hear vertebrae crack.
ReplyDeleteHuman kids aren't the only ones meeting their teachers this week, I see. ;D I'm glad the Von Tussles took to Bean and Wylla quickly. Bean and Malcolm are adorable together. The line of kittens on the bed is too much.
ReplyDeleteTabby boyz are da best, right LG?
ReplyDeleteAw, love seeing Wylla playing in the "S" with the kittens, and Bean giving Malcom the inaugural Bean Bath!
ReplyDeleteSuch big ears little Midge has! If she ever grows into those things,Lord help us all!
ReplyDeleteIf you attach some plexiglass to the top half of the baby gate it will keep the kittens in the room a little while longer - that's what I do with my fosters :) At about the 7-8 week period they are finally able to jump high enough to grab the top and pull themselves over.
