Well, Mary's been busy.
She stitched fifty, yes FIFTY, beds for the kitties.
Before I left on my trip, I met Mary at the shelter when she delivered the beds. Look at the stack! And look at the cute little Tabby roosting on top.
Mary sent over a couple of pictures to share with you. Here's a portion of the fleece it took to create all the beds.
And here's her Sophie giving the blankets a test and making sure they were soft and cuddly enough for our special shelter cats.
Thank you so much, Mary, for being so generous and creating all these lovely beds for the kittens and cats. I know the shelter appreciates them, and the cats and kittens do too! And thanks to everyone who made a donation during her challenge, and helping make this all happen.
Mary, you're a blessing! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! Such a wonderful thing to do.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are gorgeous! Thanks for all of your hard work, Mary. The shelter cats and kittens are sure to love your blankets.
ReplyDeleteAnd that top photo reminded me of "The Princess and the Pea." So cute!
What a wonderful gift. The kitties will love all of your effort!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary! And Sophie is beautiful!

Nice job and kudos to Mary! That's a lot of time and effort!
ReplyDeleteWould Mary be willing to share the pattern for us on the East Coast to make blankets?
ReplyDeleteShe used Sue's pattern to make them:

Check with your shelter to see what size they prefer and adjust if needed. They may have different sizes of cubbies than we do at our HS.
Laurie is correct, those are the basic instructions I used. I did tweak the size a little to maximize the amount of beds I could get per yard. I cut them 18x20 so I could get 3 out of a yard of fleece if the top and bottom were the same, or 6 single pieces if they were going to be matched to other fleece.
DeleteThis size worked for TPCHS but definitely check with your local shelter.
Mary, the blankets are beautiful and so are you!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind words but it was Laurie and this amazing community of kitty lovers that made it possible! It is especially heartwarming to be seeing one of the blankets in the shelter photos of adoptable kitties.
ReplyDeleteMary, thank you for your creative challenge and for the darling models on the lovely finished products. You’re an inspiration and a valued member of Team IBKC. Yay!!
DeleteIt's clear that they were a labor of love and kindness and will give pleasure and inspiration for years to come!
ReplyDeleteMary! Those are wonderful. They look so cozy and I know the kitties will certainly feel the love that went into them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to help other cats!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Mary, you are beloved by the shelter kitties and all of IBKC! Sophie is adorable, clearly she approves of your work :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge pile of blankets! Imagine the cats and kittens getting comfortable on them as they wait for their pawents to come pick them up. Thank you! It's awesome to see the results of your fundraising.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to do for the dear shelter kitties. You are amazing Mary--and Laurie.
ReplyDeleteWow, amazing! And Sophie looks very cute (and comfortable).
ReplyDeleteThe shelter cats are going to love those beds! What gorgeous models in the pictures, showing them off to everyone who visits your blog.
ReplyDeleteThe shelter cats will be impressed! Awesome job on the beds! I bet a lot more throats will be purring because of you, Mary!
