Because Wylla has been doing so well lately, we've started introducing some dry food into her diet. Several times a day we'll give her a few morsels, and she seems to be processing it well. Since we've begun our experiment, not one bit has come back up!
Right now crunchies are a real treat for her, and she gets very excited when she gets a few bites. We're hoping that in time she will settle down and we'll be able to leave a bowl out so she can graze at her leisure. If we can do it, that will make it little easier for us to be away from the house for larger windows of time. With her eating schedule as it is now, she keeps us on a short leash!
As you can see in this video, we've got a long way to go. Once the crunchies come out, so do the grabby little paws.
Wow! She's getting big! I remember when she was very tiny.
ReplyDeleteGraduating to a few crunchies is quite a landmark!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Wylla!
Yay, Wylla! Look at you growing and eating big girl food.
ReplyDeleteLG's always been similarly grabby about treats. He and my hubby have developed a sort of high-five routine where he high-fives dad and gets a couple of treats. For me, LG sits and lifts his paw (similar to how a begging dog would do) to ask for a treat. It's funny to see the little wheels turning depending on who is holding the treat bag - [Ooh - treats. High-five! Wait, it's mom with the bag. Activate paw lift and, yes!]
I like the way she pretends to be washing her face rather than lunging for a crunchy before giving up on the pretext and going for it...
ReplyDeleteI agree with LG's Mom - time to teach Wylla a trick to get the crunchies. My Maine Coons have to "touch" my finger (a reverese nose boop) and do a "tail parade" (walking side by side with their huge tails up) to get their dry food. Perhaps a "meerkat" position? (Upright on back paws)
ReplyDeleteLove the "tail parade" phraseology. Every morning after we go downstairs, LG swirls around the dining room, where I keep his food. Then, his tail held high, he leads me into the kitchen, where I keep his bowls. I call it the morning kitty parade.
DeleteWhat grabby paws? She looks completely disinterested. ;D She does quite the song and dance act. Eager, aren't you, Wylla? It's great to hear she's doing well and graduating to dry food.
ReplyDeleteLove it! She's such a cutie-patootie!
ReplyDeleteAwww, don't tease her!
ReplyDeleteGood news for Wylla. Those crunchies are just so delicious!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 indoor cats who eat the expensive CD by Hills, and 3 outdoor cats who eat the least expensive pet store brand. The indoor cats love getting a kibble or two of the outdoor food. It seems my indoor cats like eating junk food as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to trick her into an eye exam, the part when they see if you are tracking anyway.
ReplyDeleteBrava, Wylla! Your beautiful crunchies song sent Bonnie Border Collie searching.
ReplyDeletePeggy
Yay, Wylla! I'm glad you are doing well at eating a few crunchies! I like your happy tail and your "please give it to me" paws!
