One of her favorite pastimes is catching flies, so to have one so close yet so far away, was pure torture for the wee girl. That thunk you hear in the video is the sound of an angry cat's tail slapping against the glass.
This one got away, but I'm sure there will be plenty more to come now that it's getting springy around here!

She has serious butt action going on there :)
ReplyDeleteI love how she chitters to flies!
ReplyDeleteWe had an identical situation at our house yesterday - a fly caught between the window and the screen! Pixel is typically not a good bug catcher, but she was convinced that this one was was catchable and was chattering up a storm at it, and boy was she angry that I was a mean mommy and wouldn't open the window!
ReplyDeleteNothing conveys anger quite like a cat tail being thumped...
ReplyDeleteSince it is getting 'springy' - does that mean kittens?
I love the quivers of excitement and ADORE the nose wiggle at around 1:03!
ReplyDeleteYou can see her vibrating with annoyance in the first part of the video.
ReplyDeleteHow DARE that fly be out of reach!
ReplyDeleteI love the little exasperated squeak towards the end. You can almost imagine her saying 'dammit!'
ReplyDeleteAdmirable right-paw preparation and all-round concentration!
ReplyDeleteThat chittering is something that my cats do when they see birds. According to "Catwatching" by Desmond Morris, it's the cat "practicing eating" the intended victim. :) Your little trivia tidbit for the day!
ReplyDeleteKitten I had about 18 years ago leaped straight up stretched out vertically one night and SMACKED a giant moth that was hovering about six inches from the ceiling. I cheered.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! How frustrating!
ReplyDeleteWhen will there be kittens ? When will there be kittens ? When will there be itty bitty kitties ? They are the reason I'm following your blog . However nice Your blog is , I'd probably stop following someday sooner if I knew there would be no more fostering . Can we please , please , please have some of the tiny kitties ? Love from Norway
ReplyDeleteWe had ring worm come through here with our last litter, and we can't foster right now.
DeleteThere is a community that's bonded because of the foster kittens, but also because of Bean, Wylla and our world That's totally fine if you don't want to be a part of it.
If you want tiny kittens right now, maybe try fostering or volunteering at a local rescue organization.
I love how she gets so excited and wags her tale, gorgeous cat!
