I've been gone for nearly two and a half weeks now and I'm really starting to miss my cats. I Skype with Craig, and if the cats aren't sleeping, he'll go and grab one and hold her while we talk. I appreciate this, but they never stay on his lap long enough, and they don't seem to realize it's me on the computer. The other night he put his computer on the guest room bed and I got to watch Bean nap and Wylla play with a length of ribbon. That was awesome.
Of course I've got Mimsey and Nigel here, so I can get my cat fix, and even though they are lovely, sweet and affectionate cats, they are not MY cats, and it's not quite the same.
Thankfully, I've got this huge archive containing stories about and pictures of my cats so I've been able to spend a little time "with" them this way. Again, not quite the same, but it does help.
As my day was winding down, I took a little time last night and visited the blog archives in search of my favorite Bean and Wylla moments and photos. After much contemplation, I decided that these two are my favorites, and they're now the wallpaper on my computer.
I'll be home in just a couple more days and all will be well again.
I'm going to hit the ground running, though! Our big FUNdraisier will be kicking off the morning after I return (Thursday) and I'll be racing to the shelter first thing to pick up a set of volunteers for our phone bank. This will be quite exciting week!
I can't wait to reveal this year's set, so for the next couple days, I'll give you a couple of little peeks at it.
Here's one of the sparkly details.
That must mean our dear Kitten Whisperer is on the mend - GREAT NEWS! I don't envy you having to select a favorite picture - I love each of your photos of every single cat so much....but Captain Wylla on her yacht? Yeah.....Evangeline and Lilliane are making a catnip stand to raise money for the FUNdraiser.

ReplyDeleteHow is the Kitten Whisperer doing? I know the feeling of having darling cats around that are not YOUR cats. Can't wait to meet the new volunteers - have they been practicing?
ReplyDeleteWow, it is fundraiser time again already?? Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Wylla is my absolute fave! Glad to hear Mr. Kitten Whisperer is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited !! glad your dad is doing so well that he can spare you to come back and do the FUNdraiser!!
ReplyDeleteWe use a kitty cam when we are away so we can watch the cats in their cat tree. I don't think the Skype would work with us either.
Also glad that your dad is doing better.
ReplyDeleteWe also use a kitty cam when we're away. It gives us a little bit of a kitty fix. Even when we're staying in a home where there are resident cats, it's not the same as being with our kitty. Never thought of the Skype idea, although my husband and I are most often on the road together. LG has Skyped with a couple of our friends and family. He likes to show off for them on camera, which he would never do in person (too shy).
No offense, Bean - you are and always will be awesome - but I love the picture of Cap'n Wylla scanning the horizon for enemy vessels!
