When I tuck the boys away at night and during the day for naps, it always is such a disappointment for Wylla. She'll wait by the door, and when I pass by, she will let out a little cry that ends with a question mark.
She seems to be asking "Now? Is is time for them to come out now?"
Just like the last batch, as she's gotten to know them better, she's become more affectionate. They started out as curiosities and as playmates, and now she's spending more time bathing and snuggling with the boys. They love and seek her attention.
Fielding will brush against her, walk under her belly, then come out between her front legs and rub the top of his head on her chin. She'll give him a few licks as he passes under her. We call this the "Kitten Carwash".
Bart isn't as subtle and just throws his body agains hers, drops to the floor, and surrenders to her for his grooming. He'll stay there until he's soggy and every hair on his body has been smoothed in one direction. He will object to an ear cleaning on occasion, but otherwise, it's bliss for Bart.
The boys both weigh two pounds now, which means their chapter with us will soon be ending.
I think it's going to be hard for all of us to say farewell to these two special boys, but it may be especially hard for Wylla. She loves those little guys.
And they love her.
Charlene has taught the Little One well.
ReplyDeleteIndeed - Wylla has had the best mentoring possible.
DeleteWylla is a good aunt to those kittens. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess because there were only 2 (and not 3 like I thought!) we got to know them so well- and Wylla is really as sweet as she looks. I am so happy those two will go home together and I hope we see a lot of updates!
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely beautiful set of photos! So sweet.
ReplyDeleteBuddy, Tiger and Mr. Mistofelees' Mom
Looks like Fielding has had a minor whisker trim
ReplyDeleteI love the term "kitten carwash". I feel bad for Wylla, that she's soon to lose her companions and "bathtime buddies", but hopefully when she gains new little ones to mother and make soggy, that will soothe her sense of loss.
ReplyDeleteAdorable, just adorable!
ReplyDeleteThese are such sweet pictures! Wylla, Fielding and Bartholomew, you are so dear!
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly the sweetest set of photos ever..."sigh"!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever considered doing a calendar, Laurie? You have so many amazing pictures.
ReplyDeleteLooking at these photos, it's hard to believe some "experts" (insert eye roll here) say that cat's don't experience love.
ReplyDeleteLove is the only word to describe these scenes!
Such a lovely, soothing, touching set of photos. Many thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteThis post made my day! How adorable! And the way you described it - lovely, as usual. I could literally see the kitten carwash in front of me :)
ReplyDeleteWylla sure has embraced her wrangling apprenticeship with her very own style.
ReplyDeleteI do love how she and Charlene enjoy the kittens and teach each kitten such wonderful skills.
Aw, Wylla has developed into quite the nurturing soul, but then again she did have good teachers.
ReplyDeleteOh precious lil wylla has 2 nephews that will always love her like a mama!! :-) even when the boys leave, they'll NEVER forget their lovely auntie Wylla, & she'll NEVER forget them. Now, that's LOVE!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Mittenflosses are my all-time favorites and I, too, hope for frequent updates. Dear Wylla, you're such a good kitten auntie!
