As I've mentioned before, the catnip banana is a favorite in our house. Usually it's the big cats that are enjoying it, but it's the toy of choice for little Fielding Mittenfloss
He loves wrestling with it and giving it lots of bunny kicks. It will keep him occupied for minutes, which is a very long time for a kitten who has a very short attention span.
And he loves chasing it, too. We call this game "The Banana Dash" and it's a fun exercise for big and small cats. Fielding always wins this game because he's quick on his feet and highly determined. But win or lose, all cats have fun playing The Banana Dash.
See for yourself...
Can't decide which is cuter: Fielding's fast bunny kicks to the banana or his sliding on the floor in pursuit of the banana. In any case, I hope his mom has lovely wooden floors to slide across.
ReplyDeleteWylla is so sweet how she won't approach the banana until the babies have cleared away. I hope Fielding's Mom has a banana ready for him when he moves to his new home :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Bart still melts my heart - those little white paws. You'd think I never see white paws and yet all four of my cats have white paws, lol!
The banana is a hit at my house and my parents' house. The size and shape is just right for biting and kicking. I have yet to know of a cat that doesn't love that banana.
ReplyDeleteOh, Fielding-----this is your brain on drugs... ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf you don't talk to your cat about 'nip, who will?
DeleteFielding's leap off the couch slays me. So cute!
ReplyDeleteAwesome slide in the opening. We have wooden floors, and LG loves to charge at the rag rugs and slide, then ride them.
ReplyDeleteHow often do you have to replace the banana? With all the claw and tooth action, anything but Kevlar (TM) would be a cloud of yellow fuzz in no time.
ReplyDeleteThe last a long time. I usually get new ones not because the bananas are destroyed but because the catnip becomes less potent.
DeleteThey *usually* last a long time. Glogirly had one die an untimely death at the paws--or should I say teeth--of a certain ginger mancat who shall remain unnamed *coughWafflescough*. She posted a photo of the slain nip 'nana, and the toothmarks were impressively large and deep. The poor 'nana never stood a chance against such a show of force. *shakes head sadly* Glogirly was surprised the ginger mancat was able to disembowel the 'nana because, like you said, they're tough pieces of fruit and last a long time.
DeleteSweet Fielding Mittenfloss, that catnip banana toy seems to be about the same size you are! xo
ReplyDeleteHe's a brave kitten! He will not fear this strange-shaped, oddly-colored foe, no matter what size it is! If he can take his brother, he can take..whatever this is that smells so good! ATTACK AND KILL WITH BUNNY KICKS!
DeleteItty bitty bunny kicks! I love it!
ReplyDeleteCharlene isn't interested in catnip bananas? Or does she just benevolently observe while the youngsters play?
ReplyDeleteMiss Wylla does a good job supervising The Banana Dash. She's all like, you know I could take the banana from you if I really wanted it. But I don't. So I don't.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Sarah has added to her list: One catnip banana.
Smiles!!!!! Kitten energy is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove Fielding's focus on the 'nip 'nana!
ReplyDeleteAnd Bart wanting his turn but not willing to intervene.
And Wylla deciding she didn't want it THAT badly.
Go Fielding! Beat that nip 'nana into submission! Show it who's boss!
ReplyDeleteYes, the catnip banana (or "nanner" as it's affectionately known) is a favorite toy in our house too. We have a catnip stogie from the same company which get similar mileage. This was the only package that has ever been delivered that attracted interest as it was opened - I guess the catnip is that potent. That first few days we literally had to take the banana away from them and put it in the closet to give them breaks because they played with that toy so much - to give the humans a break from the drooling and kicking and madness. :-)
