Diagnosis: Glitter
Charlene had a vet appointment on Friday. Doc was running her hands down Charlene's back and examining her spine when she "Well", followed by a very long pause, "She has glitter on her coat". The way she Doc made this announcement, I was prepared for a much more severe diagnosis than that!
And then we both joked about how we could be using faerie dust to help treat her hyperesthesia and had a good laugh.
I've been keeping my glitter usage to a minus this holiday season, but had been making bows from a very sparkly ribbon last week. The ribbon did shed some glitter as I worked with it, and Charlene managed to pick some up while visiting me in the craft room.
I swept it all up, but you know how glitter is, and Bean still has a bit of a shimmer!

I have a hyperesthesiac cat, also. She is doing well on doxepin.
ReplyDeleteAlso, catnip appears to make the hyperesthesia worse in my Squeak. HTH.
DeleteCharlene is gorgeous, glitter or not!! :)
ReplyDeleteI bet that long pause felt like a year... Glad things are going ok for Charlene
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! In addition to being such a big part of the "magic of ordinary days", a house is so much more a home with a cat/cats at these and other special times, too! Love that The Glamour Puss also got some glitter! (Am pretty sure the newer stuff is safe in small amounts.)--from Arowyn
DeleteGlitter fur... I was in a dance troupe where there was often body glitter. A side effect of that, no matter how well I washed up, was Sparkle Kitty after I held them close. The boy kitty was most appalled.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Charlene and Wylla are doing well!
A couple of years ago I had red glitter in my little tree (don't judge me, it was all they had left at Rite Aid. But then I really liked it!). And my girl cat Lyra, who likes to eat anything that resembles string (speaker cords, bra straps), of course ate some glitter. Which I found out when her poops were metallic red. Space poops! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm rather enchanted by the idea of glitter being the cure for hyperesthesia!
ReplyDeleteThe dining picture is so cute ;)
