Gifts for Cats
I did a little Christmas shopping for Bean and Wylla. Shhhh, don't tell them, but they're each getting a new catnip banana. Actually, Wylla may have figured it out. When I came hope from shopping and was unloading the car, she jumped up on the counter and had her nose in the bag.
Do you have any favorite gifts to give your cats for the holidays? Do tell. I thought I would put together a list of great cat gifts and would love to have your input. Thanks!!

I am getting yet another cat tree. You can't have too many! :-)
ReplyDeleteLG's favorite ever Christmas gift was a nice, tall cat tower. He spends a lot of time on there, snoopervising the neighborhood through a front window. I think he might need another one, for the kitchen. :-)
DeleteOne of our cats is addicted to colorful springs and the other is a fan of wands with dangly bits and the sparkle balls we ordered from you.
ReplyDeleteSparkle balls!
ReplyDeleteI second this nomination!
DeleteSqueeeee! Look at her toes! this pic just made my day!
ReplyDeleteHa! I came home with a catnip toy the other day and my Thumper found it, pulled it out of the bag and was rolling on it, on the counter before I had my coat off. I let him keep it. Back to the store I go...
ReplyDeleteI'm getting mine a new track ball toy, some new purr pads as well as some new crafty-made catnip toys (I got them at my local Harvest festival). They really need a new cat tree, but that will be a birthday present for 2016 !! :)
ReplyDeleteWe wrap up an empty toblerone box with a marble inside and tie on a curly ribbon ribbon bow (taped down for good measure). It makes a great cat toy--they can rabbit kick it and the marble rolls around and makes mysterious noises.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea. I'll have to keep that in mind for my own cats.
DeleteCool! Now I HAVE to get a Toblerone bar. :)
DeleteI just gave every cat owner I know a Zoom Groom and a Cat Dancer. These are by far my cats favorite things in the world.

My girl Maya LOVES her Cat Dancer. She's wild for it! When she gets going, she'll hiss at it, which is the funniest thing. My other cat Sam could not care less about the Cat Dancer, though. He's utterly devoted to his grey mouse, and he chirps and trills odes of his Great Hunting Prowress every time he catches and kills his grey mouse-y prey. *G*
DeleteEven the packages are itty bitty - hee hee. Gail
ReplyDeleteZeke put an over-the-door cat climber on his Christmas list two years ago. It's a bit pricy so he still hasn't received one. I believe he's trying to figure out if he can start a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to buy it.
ReplyDeleteCharley is easy to please and a cheap date too - his favorite gift is the decorated tree which he gets to sit under for days on end. And then after Christmas he gets the pleasure of rolling around in the used tissue paper! Plus, I'll always give him his favourite treats of course.
ReplyDeleteThe box the oranges came in.
ReplyDeleteExtra pop carton boxes made into complex
tunnels.
The box UPS delivered with incoming presents. (Ooooooooh! Bar codes! BUG!!!!!)
The boxes... (etc etc etc LOL).

BOXES!
Everything else is details, LOL--from Arowyn
Freeze dried salmon treats. Each of the 3 cats in my house - Nicky, TLJ, and Izzy will each get a bag. And there is 1 bag for their cousin Princess Letitgo (named by my 3 yo niece.
ReplyDeleteThe plastic rings on the milk jugs are a huge hit in my house. Also felted wool balls with bells inside (Thanks to the NY Sheep & Wool Festival for those). Also crinkle balls so I can hear that crunchy sound at 4:30am...
ReplyDeleteEach year, both of my cats get a Joy Stick in their stocking from KGrant Designs. They're like catnip bananas but prettier, so Mama can enjoy them too. https://www.etsy.com/listing/109058800/joy-stick-a-cat-nip-filled-delight-yacht?ref=shop_home_active_14
ReplyDeleteI don't tend to buy my cats gifts for holidays or special occasions, as a rule. I spoil them year 'round and do my best to keep them in 'nip and toys and treats regular-like. ;D
ReplyDeleteCat Grass is the most-requested at our house, followed by foil balls and plastic drinking straws in wrappers. Since clothing is NOT requested, I will get my adult daughter's new puppy a dress.
ReplyDeleteWe order many (human) gifts online during December, and we let Maggie enjoy all of the boxes and pieces of cardboard.
ReplyDeleteWhen we leave her with a cat-sitter for a few days over Christmas, we buy a bag of sparkle balls (she enjoys the IBKC brand!) and tell the sitter she can have a new one or two every day.
On special occasions, I mix some wet food with their kibble for their morning meal.
ReplyDeleteI have an older tabby and this year I got him an orthopedic bed. Its really for dogs but I figured he wouldn't mind.
ReplyDeleteMine got their present in the mail today -- a cat tree, so they can climb up to the loft bed in my guest room and hang out. I'm having some buyer's remorse because it is so large and heavy, but I think with my big guys this will last longer than the cat ladder I was planning on getting. It's here -- good price and solid construction. Amazon has them for about $10 more.

Cat toys from Snow Leopard Trust! In addition to being goodies for your cats, they are made by folks in areas where snow leopards live. Since they are getting income from these toys (among other goods the Trust sells), they are able to live in peace with the snow leopards.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, you get a gift for your cats, AND help other cats.
I just found an Etsy shop called WraptCats, They have catnip toys, in particular the "Southern Fried Chicken","Whole Roaster Chicken", and "StinkRat" that were HUGE hits with my crew. They also have awesome wool cat beds.
ReplyDeleteOur Ringo is obsessed with the Cat Catcher (a wand toy with a small mouse at the end). Da Bird is always a favorite, and refills are a good gift. Also, freeze-dried chicken is popular, as is freeze-dried shrimp or liver.
ReplyDeleteOur new guy, Spanky, is getting a large bag of pompoms! He goes crazy for them. Our older guy, Louie, will get some new ribbons and treats. He prefers dragging snake-like things around.
ReplyDeleteCatnip. That's what the Bisse would like, all the time. Lots of catnip. Oh, and for the dog to leave the house permanently.
ReplyDeleteCardboard scratcher things in fun shapes! They also get a "kitnip box" once a month that they really really like (Betty opens it herself if I undo the packing tape) - thing-of-the-month subscriptions like that are always fun for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLG generally gets some kind of treat, in addition to the odd catnip toy or two. I've not tried the freeze-dried treats on him. Maybe I'll pick some up. He also loves the discarded boxes and tissue paper.
ReplyDeleteBottle caps. The ones from 20 oz soda bottles are their favorite, but they also enjoy the ones from gatorades. I used to buy lots of toys, until I realized these were their favorites. They can bat them around and chase them.
