Finally Free!
The Fishkin Twins visited the shelter on Friday for a round of vaccines and a check-up with Doc. They got a clean bill of health -- no URI symptoms were detected. When we returned home, instead of tucking them back into their room, I opened up the carrier in the living room and set them free.
While they explored every square inch of this new space, I went upstairs and found the girls and told them that they could now meet the boys.
The big cats sauntered into the room to say hello. Like they always do when the meet the little ones, the girls were reserved and took it slow with their introductions. Once they said their hellos, they let the kittens go about their business, and just sat back and watched. Then, of course, Bean tiptoed off to the kitten room to see if there might be some kitty crunchies to snack on.
The boys are pretty tight, and though they are curious about the big cats and engage with them a little bit, they seem to prefer their own company. Our last pair, Poe and Marigold, started off the same way. They kept to themselves at first, but as you know in the end all of that changed and they became the best of friends with Charlene and Wylla.
Hopefully, this will play out the same way.

Where did you get that sofa-corner scratcher??
ReplyDeleteIt came from Petsmart. It was part of the Martha Stewart collection many years ago.
DeleteIt takes time to convince the Ladies to wrastle with kittens. Sometimes it is easier to just attack one's brother than woo a Lady to play.
ReplyDeleteI like the last one. Climbing the castle tower to reach the fair Princess Wylla.
ReplyDeleteAdore the two kittens looking up to supervisor Wylla in the 'loft'
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I love the introduction stories. Bean and Wylla never fail to impress me with their patience around the little ones.
ReplyDeleteIt still amazes me how great Bean and Wylla are with every new foster batch! Your foster kitties are so lucky to get socialised by your own two! x
