Cats have 18 toes. 5 on each front paw and 4 on each back paw.
Why climb? To escape the Huddle Puddle. TO stand out and up. Because that is what Mighty Hunters do. Because one gets a solo post.

Ah, and who can blame her? Honestly, I remember being an 8-year-old, and having a light and flexible body that could climb any tree. Often it felt like I could do anything I wanted. I didn't know to miss it until it was gone!
I am wincing in sympathy from the sight of those claws digging in...
