A Few Photos
I didn't get a lot of photos of the Waddells while they were with us. When they moved in they were filthy little things and don't like to take pictures of kittens in that state.
They had their baths and there were really just a few days before things started spiraling down, and once that started, I didn't do a lot of documentation. I wish I could have got a formal family portrait before they left, but I didn't. But I did get a couple of them all together in the hands of our friend, Sarah.
These aren't the greatest photos in the world, but I'm grateful to have a few images of these dear things from this period of time.
I thought I might be sharing a little more on the blog, but I've been struggling to post. I have a couple of stories to share -- like our Tea with Bean (and Wylla) and an adoption tale from our previous litter -- but I'm just not feeling very inspired to write. Partially because losing our Waddells took the wind out of my sails a bit, but also because of all the horribleness that's been happening in our country. I haven't wanted to be online -- I've wanted to retreat and just be with the ones I love the most.
Instagram seems like a safe space, so I've been sharing a lot more over there. Until I get things back up to speed over here, that's a good place to see what we're up to. Wylla and Bean have been particularily lovely lately -- they both look so beautiful in fall light.
Thanks, as always, for the love and support.

These are great photos of these little sweethearts. Much love to you, Laurie. - Sara
ReplyDeleteSending hugs, purrs, and understanding. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself, darling. You and your efforts are very much appreciated. And there are many of us who care deeply about you all. XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteFirst, thank you for these pictures. Second, the world is crazy right now, so take your time. We all love to see Charlene and Wylla pictures. So post when you want to. We will be here.
ReplyDeleteI think about you all often, and it's not surprising that the words are hard to find these days. Be gentle and provide yourself a lot of grace. We'll gladly look at your lovely ladies in the meantime on IG.
ReplyDeleteWe’re all a little dazed from man made and natural disasters in recent weeks. When you have your summer fundraiser, you tell us about the many, various programs that your Humane society has (making us in rural areas jealous - gentle smiles). An occasional success story would be nice to hear. Gail
ReplyDeleteThose are such sweet pictures. When you feel like doing so, I'd love to hear about Joseph's new family.
ReplyDeleteSomething really lovely and fitting that the family portrait of these wee ones is when they are being held in loving, gentle hands. I have felt the same way about writing — though without your added devastation at losing these peanuts. We will all find our way back.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on the need to stay away from media, and be with family. I just want to knit and craft all the things. I follow on IG. I love to see any and all posts, but totally support your need to protect your heart and soul right now. Hugs and love to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI think you are expressing what a lot of us are feeling lately. Thank you so much for posting the photos of the little ones. Seeing them in loving arms was a bright moment in all the gloom.
ReplyDeleteWylla and Bean are always lovely. Thank you for sharing when you feel up to it.
ReplyDeleteI'm spending evenings curled up with a good book, preferably featuring cats, and a cat or two within petting distance.
You've given so much. Step back, take care of yourself. Grieve and heal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the lovely pics and your thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking care and loving them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the Instagram photos and videos. I just spent a while going through them, so that I could actually face the day. I, too, have pulled the plug on social media, the news, and the ugliness that is out there. I spend my time knitting, weaving, watching hummingbirds and making my own kitty purr with lots of love. Thank you again for posting the photos and for caring so much. If you hadn't cared so much for all the foster kitties, you would not have made soooo many families happy with their adoptions. Take time for YOU and Craig and the girls, that is what matters.
ReplyDeletei love the images you have been posting on instagram Laurie, just beautiful. i also agree that it is a much gentler place to be right now, not exactly like a fantasy world but the terrible does not seem to infiltrate the same as it does on other social media sites.

Obviously, you're far from alone in unplugging from the recitations of hatefulness that seem to be taking over the world right now. And like others, I've been spending as much time as possible listening to audio books and knitting; it's so much nicer than listening to the news. And, of course, I've been looking at Charlene and Wylla on your Instagram. You take such lovely photos, and they are such photogenic kitties, I do hope you'll post a few more posts on your blog, even if they're just posts that have pictures and no text. The last time you had a year's vacation from fostering, we spent a happy year looking at pictures of Charlene and Wylla, and it would be lovely if you did that again while you're making up your mind about future fostering.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, thank you for these wonderful photos of the Waddells, not to mention your Instagram photos. And thank you for all these years of fostering kittens who end up wonderfully socialized and ready for the rest of their lives. Your blog has been a very special place that has brought many people great joy!
When the world is terrible, I escape into blogs about cats. It should have occurred to me to ask: When the world is terrible, what do the cat bloggers do? :-(
ReplyDeleteWishing you well in this time of sadness and transition.
Laurie your "aren't the greatest photos in the world" are still awesome and better than I could possibly do. Thank you for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteSweet little things captured I think perfectly. And you gave them so much love and comfort while they lived there short time here, a lifetime's worth. Much Love and Respect to you always, you are my Hero.
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for continuing to post on IG even though you aren't writing long form here. We said goodbye to one of our two 15-year-old sister kitties on Labor Day weekend and seeing your two lovelies there helps my healing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all you do. ((((hugs))))
Laurie these pictures are perfect, they are so sweet. And Lord knows we need some sweetness these days.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy. Indeed Instagram is a safe and friendly space, and I love watching your posts there.
Sending lots of love your way.
Laurie - I Love seeing the wee kittehs. Sarah's tattoos are more kittehs, how cute. I'm hurting with you and loving the Wylla and Charlene pics on IG. Take care
ReplyDeleteYou showered them with love, so very important to any creature of God's!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful little bunnies. It's so sad that they weren't able to recover from their illness, but at least their brief time on earth was spent with people who loved them so dearly. I'm deeply sorry, Laurie.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you put these up! Those sweet Waddells will never be forgotten.
ReplyDeletetotally understandable. Rest and regroup. Your fans are thinking of you during what is bound to be a difficult time.
ReplyDeleteAww they were just so lovely; and what darling photos. Looked like they had spunk too; the face on the gray kitten in the 2nd pic! Such darlings, I hope their 2nd stage of life will be filled with fun over by the rainbow bridge. :)
ReplyDeleteYou and me (and many others), Lauri, with all that's going on. I'm losing my mind over Puerto Rico and how the aid 'effort' has been handled there.
Maybe you could post pictures of adoptable kittens at the shelter and there stories.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it would help a ton with kitten adoptions and adult cat adoptions too!
I know I'd love to hear stories like that.
We love you! Virtual Hugz!
ReplyDeleteYou take wonderful caring photos !
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing about these photos of the Waddells that isn't precious and beautiful. They will be adored forever, don't you worry. Their little lives were going to be shorter than you knew when they came to you and you made every moment of them better than anyone else could have.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on in this country right now would make anyone want to hide under the bed with a soft toy, metaphorically speaking. It's so good you have creatures of comfort near you, of multiple species. If it's any help, please know there are millions of us out here working to make things better in spite of everything that seems set against us. That's Wylla power at work, don't you think?
