I didn't get a lot of photos of the Waddells while they were with us. When they moved in they were filthy little things and don't like to take pictures of kittens in that state.
They had their baths and there were really just a few days before things started spiraling down, and once that started, I didn't do a lot of documentation. I wish I could have got a formal family portrait before they left, but I didn't. But I did get a couple of them all together in the hands of our friend, Sarah.
These aren't the greatest photos in the world, but I'm grateful to have a few images of these dear things from this period of time.
I thought I might be sharing a little more on the blog, but I've been struggling to post. I have a couple of stories to share -- like our Tea with Bean (and Wylla) and an adoption tale from our previous litter -- but I'm just not feeling very inspired to write. Partially because losing our Waddells took the wind out of my sails a bit, but also because of all the horribleness that's been happening in our country. I haven't wanted to be online -- I've wanted to retreat and just be with the ones I love the most.
Instagram seems like a safe space, so I've been sharing a lot more over there. Until I get things back up to speed over here, that's a good place to see what we're up to. Wylla and Bean have been particularily lovely lately -- they both look so beautiful in fall light.

When you have your summer fundraiser, you tell us about the many, various programs that your Humane society has (making us in rural areas jealous - gentle smiles). ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the Instagram photos and videos. I just spent a while going through them, so that I could actually face the day. I, too, have pulled the plug on social media, the news, and the ugliness that is out there. I spend my time knitting, weaving, watching hummingbirds and making my own kitty purr with lots of love. Thank you again for posting the photos and for caring so much. If you hadn't cared so much for all the foster kitties, you would not have made soooo many families happy with their adoptions. Take time for YOU and Craig and the girls, that is what matters.

Obviously, you're far from alone in unplugging from the recitations of hatefulness that seem to be taking over the world right now. And like others, I've been spending as much time as possible listening to audio books and knitting; it's so much nicer than listening to the news. And, of course, I've been looking at Charlene and Wylla on your Instagram. You take such lovely photos, and they are such photogenic kitties, I do hope you'll post a few more posts on your blog, even if they're just posts that have pictures and no text. The last time you had a year's vacation from fostering, we spent a happy year looking at pictures of Charlene and Wylla, and it would be lovely if you did that again while you're making up your mind about future fostering.

Maybe you could post pictures of adoptable kittens at the shelter and there stories.

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing about these photos of the Waddells that isn't precious and beautiful. They will be adored forever, don't you worry. Their little lives were going to be shorter than you knew when they came to you and you made every moment of them better than anyone else could have.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on in this country right now would make anyone want to hide under the bed with a soft toy, metaphorically speaking. It's so good you have creatures of comfort near you, of multiple species. If it's any help, please know there are millions of us out here working to make things better in spite of everything that seems set against us. That's Wylla power at work, don't you think?
